The Richmond Fishing Expo is on January 18, 19 and 20 this year at Meadow Event Park in Doswell about two miles east of I-95 at exit 98, the Kings Dominion exit. Wow! What a surprise. A freshman quarterback beats the best team in the world. Go figure. I had it all wrong. I was sure Bama was going to prevail. Congrats to Clemson. I know a lot of teams who will be studying the video of that game for next year. Now its on to baseball in February.

Tom, we bought specific name brand sports underwear while in high school we put on our uniforms from top to bottom in the same way for good luck. Did it matter? Of course not. Did we play better? Of course not. But we did it. Just like baseball players who will not step on the chalk line from home plate to first base while heading into the dugout. And what about having a banana on your bass boat? Bad luck. So why did Pistol Pete Maravich never change his outer sox during basketball season? He thought it brought him good luck. My grandmother would put the "Gree-Gree" on you if you got her upset. You never want to have the "Gree-Gree" put on you. That is really bad luck. And while watching LSU football on TV I will sit in the exact same position when LSU gets the football if they had scored or made a good play prior to the next snap. It is my way of sharing the good luck that happened before. There is a psychiatric term for this behavior but I can't remember what it is. You have to just have to "Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler."

Good post. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Here are my thoughts. 1. Patterns - they can be as short as three fish to as long as three hours or more. And they will change during the day so when you find a pattern that works you play it out for all you can before finding your next one. 2. Always have a "Plan B" - This is why we take so many rods and reels along with us plus 1,000 pounds of baits. Yes, it can be confusing and very frustrating to figure out which technique and bait to throw, but it is part of our hunting efforts. So when "Plan A" falters we go to "Plan B" and then "Plan C" and then just say screw it and start throwing what you think may work. 3. I have a good friend who will make up his mind before he hits the water as to what he will be throwing, where, and how. He is very stubborn and he will not change his mind until he is totally convinced that what he is doing does not work. He is still frustrated to this day although he is a very good tournament fisherman. He could be fantastic if he was just more flexible with his thought process. I really do not have an established milk run. I know where I want to go and will try to hit the places during the day. But to go to a predetermined point A to point B to point C to point D is not my cup of tea. I do have favorite creeks and coves plus shore lines and pads that I will hit first. Then, I have to put myself in a "self-control" mode as I look down the bank for even better targets than the one I am fishing. This means that I may not give my current targeted location the time and love needed to nail one out of the area or turn around and fish it again before moving along. Or going to that "special" place where I caught one five years ago. But this is bass fishing and we all suffer from the same malady: "The Next Spot is Where the Big One is Hiding" So let's move along and say goodbye to all the bass we just passed over.

Mardi Gras will be on March 5 this year so all of you guys start planning your trip to New Orleans and the French Quarter for that weekend and into Tuesday. For all in college remember to tell your parents you went when you return to school because if you tell them you are planning to go before you leave you are not going. Beautiful craftsmanship. Congrats on creating an outstanding product. All I can suggest is that you write down all of the dates, names, and details of the project so future family generations will know what you did making the items more valuable to your relatives. This was suggested to me by an antiques dealer in Philadelphia back in the 70's and I have 3x5 cards taped to the back of a lot of furniture in our house so when my daughter-in-law throws it away after we croak at least she will know about its history. But that is another touchy subject we will not dwell on at this time.

Festivus, Woo Daves, a Bassmaster Classic winner, used to hawk Mr. Twister products. Woo did not say he won the Classic with Mr. Twister products. But Mr. Twister was one of his sponsors and Woo served them very well. It seems Mr. Twister products have taken a back seat to the newer brands and styles in the market.
