  1. Great looking bait
  2. Great info guys. This is good to know.
  3. I am using plano boxes with the safety pins as well but I also add 1-3 of the small desiccant silica pouches to help with any moisture/rust issues. Save them from new clothing or ask a pharmacy to save some for you. I looked at the flambeau boxes with the zerust but they seemed a lot more flimsy and not as strong to me. Forgot to add a link to a post from almost two weeks where someone else was having the exact issue you described with the hooks sliding under the dividers. There is some great info on how folks have solved that.
  4. Are the color changes you are seeing in new baits bought recently?

I bought these lures back in the mid 80's from an old marine shop that was closing up. The lures had been there "forever" according to the owner back then. I have never fished them but all 3 came in separate hard plastic hinge-top boxes which (like an idiot I threw them out shortly after buying them) had the labels in them. I cannot recall who made them so I was curious if anyone might recognize any of them. All 3 are topwater as you can see. The red/white is a wooden popper with a screw in the hind end. The prop bait has the front hook on the side of the bait. The mouse is pretty much as is with the tail being a strand on what looks like very heavy mono. Any ideas as to what they are would be nice.
  6. Yikes. That is the current address I believe. When you fish the bait next, let us know how it works out.
  7. Wow that doesn't look good. If that is what the French Pearl will look like from now on I will be disappointed. That is one of my favorite colors. Hopefully the secret night and pro blue have remained the same. Just out of curiosity, what is the manufacture address on the back of the package? From what I understand the company has been moved a few times over the last couple of years and from what they told me on the phone it makes a huge difference.
  8. Thanks Clayton. I had no idea the Screaming Eagle was designed that way. Sounds like what I am looking for. Have a favorite color? :o)
  9. Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the info
  10. I am planning on ordering some buzzbaits and spinnerbaits for the upcoming season and wanted to ask for some advice as applied to smallmouth. I have a few buzzbaits but mostly in white and white/chartreuse in 1/8oz, 1/4oz and 3/8oz. I lose a few to chain pickeral so i need to pick up a few more. I am looking at the Cavitrons, Strike King and War Eagle so wanted to get some advice on what color and maybe what size that I should stick with? In regards to spinnerbaits, my main question is about style. I have quite a few but none that are really great at "burning"m which is what I wanted to get into. They are either too light, don't have the right blade combination or don't track well enough to be burned. I am hoping for some suggestions on which could be designed for "burning". Also weight and color preference as well if you don't mind. The smallmouth up here are smaller, of which a 4 pounder would be considered a giant. Lakes are mostly clear with no crayfish
  11. I bought a few of the Evolve Baits Soul5 SoulJerk 115 that I plan to try this year. I haven't fished them yet but I have heard good things about them. I picked them up for $3.99 which I thought was a good price.
  12. I haven't tried the H2O prop baits but I haven't tried an H2O hardbait that wasn't good. If Bluebasser86 gives it the thumbs up then you can count on it. My prop baits consist of Heddon Torpedo's (baby, tiny and even teeny although I did have a 3lb smallmouth pull the rear screw eye out of the teeny losing fish, hook and prop) and Dying Flutters (don't think the Flutters are made anymore but I could be wrong), Cordell Crazy Shad and Bomber Rip Shad. Oh...forgot the last one that I haven't seen talked about much and that is the Hubs Chub Rattalur. I had watched a few Billy Westmoreland fishing shows back in maybe the mid to late 80's and he was just starting to fish those so I bought a few. It's a fantastic prop bait but they currently sell for $8.49 - $9.49 so they are more expensive than the others mentioned in this thread.
  13. Thank you for sharing that info. I have somewhat smaller hands so will stick with my 50's for now.
  14. How does it compare to the 50's you had?
  15. I had horrible results with big game on spinning reels a couple of years ago. Too much memory and the line develop kinks. Went back to Stren original and was happy again.
  16. Do what Wingman87 suggested or if you really like the LFS they can be had for $80 with free shipping.
  17. Will give them a try. Thanks
  18. Would anyone happen to have a contact number for Luck E Strike? I have sent a few emails to the address on the website over the last several weeks and no response.
  19. Was that a 90 or 130?
  20. Thanks for the replies. I appreciate the info. The Cronarch it is then.
  21. Just wanted to ask for some advice and perhaps be set straight on these two reels. I slipped by my local tackle shop to look at adding another baitcaster to my arsenal. I currently have 2 Curado 50E's and a 200E7. I noticed a lone Cronarch 200E7 sitting there so I asked to look at it. It felt like my Curado 200e7 but no surprise there as they are the same reel aside from the name and color. The guy then passed me two Quantum reels and said "We have these on sale if you wanted to take a look." I picked up the first which was a PT Catalyst. Checked it a bit, then put it down. I then picked up the PT Energy and played with it a bit. Wow...it felt incredibly smooth. Much smoother than the Cronarch. Now this is just playing with them in the store and not actually fishing the reel but I am confused now as what I should get. My head is telling me that the Cronarch is the no-brainer but I just can't get past the smoothness of the PT Energy. Is it just the difference in bearings (7vs11)? I know what to expect with the Cronarch but have no clue about the PT Energy. Am I missing something? Would love to hear some thoughts and advice.
  22. Shortest review ever!! I plan on grabbing a couple 90's and trying this season.
  23. Great tips as always Glenn. I watched Randy Howell freeing his spinnerbait today on Bassmaster live. It was a pure art form.
  24. Looking forward to reading more on this. Thanks for sharing what you did so far.
