  1. Tough to beat NDYakAngler's video's!!
  2. My goal this year will be the same as it's been the last several years....To get my 85yo Dad out fishing as much as I can.
  3. can't wait to hear the feedback on these.
  4. I managed to snag a few 100's when they were on sale a month or so ago for $2.40 each. Guessing I should have bought a bunch more.
  5. My preference is for the 2500 size as well. As others have said it would be more versatile. If you decide to lean towards the 1000fk just make sure the 7lbs max drag will suit your needs. The 2500 has a 20lbs max drag in comparison.
  6. Thanks Primetime. i will check out the Mitachi's
  7. I looked at TW and to buy the 20 pack is more expensive which is odd.
  8. Just wanted to ask where you guys are buying your St-36's from and if you buy in bulk? Thanks
  9. I appreciate all of the responses. Today was one of those days that happen every few years where stuff just falls into place. I took a trip to my local shops and discovered one of them had a Curado 50E at an incredible price so it came home with me. The search is officially over........well for now.
  10. Super spook jr in bone, clear or bone pop'r and a Heddon torpedo.
  11. Thanks guys. I will try to get a look at a 200i
  12. I'd like to buy another casting reel so wanted to ask a question on size. I have a strong preference for my Curado 50E size as I have smaller hands and this reel just seems to be the perfect size for me. Unsure if I can find another 50E, Curado or Chronarch, in my budget. I don't have a major retailer near me to try the different reels so thought I'd ask if there are any 100 or 200 size reels that would palm like a 50E or close to it? Would have to be $100 or less. What about the Lew's LFS? Any help would be greatly appreciated
  13. I still have that rod. Actually I had two of them but gave one away to a friend back in the day. Might have to dig it out this season. I had a Hooksetter in both casting (5'6") and spinning (5'9"). Not sure what happened to the casting rod but I still have spinning version.
  14. I know the Cordell Pencil Popper only comes in 2 sizes 6-inch 1oz and the 7-inch 2oz. They use them up here for Striper's with great success. Edited this post as I might have found an answer. Gibb's makes a Pencil Popper that is 4 1/2" and a 1/2oz. Colors appear somewhat limited as they are mostly for salt water but they might be an option to look at. They are also almost double the price.
  15. Thanks tons guys. I will continue doing what I have been but just be more organized with my storage. I usually carry 2-3 of the same bait/color but lately I have been buying more of has worked for me over the years. Especially when I find it on sale.
  16. Just wanted to ask what you guys do to organize your tackle for multiple baits. What I mean is....you buy 5-6 of the same baits, of the same color. Do you store them all together? Or do you slip 2-3 in your box and just place the rest in storage? I seem to do the later and just storage what extra's I have. The problem I have is that I find boxes of stuff years later that I forgot I had, or I will order more baits forgetting that I have some in storage. Recently I found a box with some older (guessing 90's) Bagley's cranks, Big O's (both reg and baby), pop'rs, super spots and torpedo's. Think I just need to be more diligent. Would love to hear your thoughts.
  17. My experience is for smallmouth as we have no largemouth here. Whether it is is my head or that the fish actually prefer it I am really not sure. What I do know is that it works for me. It works well enough that I carry a couple Sharpie neon orange markers. I will typically add a throat patch or a patch highlight around the front treble area on a bone super spook jr or fill in the cupped face on a bone pop'r and sometimes add a small throat patch. I will buy baits offered with an orange belly but if not available it is easy to add as an option if you choose.
  18. One of my favorites is a 90's (I think) suspending Long A with KVD's signature on the side. It's a translucent blue with an orange belly. I don't fish it often as I am scared to death of losing it. I took the suggestion from Bluebasser86 a couple of years ago and bought a few STX and STX2's and they have been fantastic. French Pearl and Secret Night being my top producers. Husky jerks in Tennessee Shad and Glass Minnow have also produced.
  19. Topwater gets my vote for favorite method. Certainly not the most effective at times but there is nothing (to me) like a smallie busting on a spook, popper or propbait. Super spook jr, pop'r and torpedo being my most used.
  20. I've has some great success on smallmouth using the Grass Pig jr.
  21. Which walking baits do you find sit higher in the water? I mostly fish Super spook jr's and the H2O TWS.
  22. Must be instore? I see them at regular price on website.
  23. Looks like the sale at BTD is over. I was browsing it late last night and the prices have gone back to regular retail. Was great while it lasted tho.
  24. Being partial to smallmouth fishing myself, I was always a huge fan. His "Fishing Diary" TV show was my favorite.
