I am curious what you guys are paying for zoom flukes and super flukes in the US? Up here in Canada for me locally they are $6.50 + 15% tax = $7.48 a bag. Of course, like an idiot, I missed the Tackle Warehouse sale. Was just curious.
  2. I bought a couple suspending Cordell spots this year. Will try them very soon.
  3. nice fish dreamertino. I love fishing spinnerbaits as well. Thanks for sharing and I hope you keep catching them!!
  4. I am always left confused as to why a company would discontinue a lure that has worked so well for me, thinking of course that it has worked great for others as well. As some other folks have said it was discontinued probably due to a lack of sales. Trying to wrap your head around why it worked so great for you and not for others is a real workout. For me it was (ironically) a Bass Pro white/blue spinnerbait that would out fish any other color that I threw at smallmouth. Also the original Berkey Power Grub in white (but it was more a creamy offwhite body) that was also a killer for me on smallmouth. My thinking is that it was the confidence I had in fishing those colors that made them so great for me.
  5. Thanks to Hootie for starting this thread and thanks to aprw1 for providing the links. It doesn't list all the rods I was wanting to know about but that it has a bunch of them. Thanks guys
  6. I agree with the above. Doug's book "Bass Magic" is a great one as well as his "Field Guide" book. Incredibly informative. I always learned a tremendous amount from his video's as well. Hard to believe it's been a year since he passed away.
  7. That looks really nice.
  8. Definitely a good video to watch with some great info. Glenn: on a side note...Can you still buy 100 lumaflex skirts for $10?
  9. Totally agree!! I asked a friend in Texas stop by their Walmart and was able to snag a bunch for $1 each. Now just need to get it all up here.
  10. You need to teach us how to fight the bait monkey!! I wouldn't have been able to pass that up.
  11. Thanks for sharing the story and pic. Looks like a great fish!!
  12. That is truly incredible!!
  13. Not trying to highjack the thread but I am curious how much of an upgrade would the Triumph be over say a Lightning Shock or Sellus?
  14. How much backing are you guys using? For example...let's say you are wanting to put braid on a baitcaster. Reel specs show 155 yds of 10lb mono. How much mono backing? (assuming you are using mono backing).
  15. This is exactly what I do as I often bank fish.
  16. My main goal is to take my 83 year old Dad out as much as he can go.
  17. My choice as well.
  18. I guess being in Canada is good for finding a good deal every now and again. I will say that a large majority of bass fishermen (smallmouth as we have no largemouth) up here don't use baitcasters so deals can be found...btw, what is a good price for a Calcutta 50B? (I think it was a b ). In the rod department pickings are slim. Shimano sellus start at $60, convergence start at $80, no one local selling Fenwick anymore, Falcon, Duckett, Dobyns and Powell are unheard of. Having a rod shipped in costs about $45 so I have to limit myself to local shops or on a very limited selection on Amazon Canada (free shipping). Sure wish you guys could see what our Walmart has compared to the US ones. You'd die laughing. Be lucky you have Academy, Gander, BPS and the rest. It really sucks not to. I haven't used the 50E yet as I am still trying to find a decent rod for it. Still cold with snow on the ground and the lakes are still iced up. One step at a time!!
  19. I am looking for a casting rod for smallmouth. I am thinking 7' and need it to be as "universal" as possible for throwing topwater, spinnerbaits, crankbaits and soft plastics. I had intended on buying something at the $100 price point but attended a local outdoor show and snagged a new in box Curado 200e7 for $85 so now I need a 2nd rod for it as well am my 50E.
  20. You guys are a huge help. Thank you so much.
  21. You just made me go and look at all my rods from the late 80's and they seem ancient....dang I feel old now. Not sure about the rest of you but there's nothing like hearing Ray Scott's voice............ floods back a lot of memories.
  22. Thanks guys. I will take a closer look at the Berkley rods.
  23. I am on a pretty tight budget so I wanted to get some opinions on the Shimano Sellus rods if you guys don't mind. Anything else around here that is in the price range is Abu's Vengence and Berkley's Lightning shock.

Guessing this is all "in store" pricing?
