Lets Talk About Your Fishing Goals For 2014??

Recommended Posts

So what's your goals?

What's your number one plan for success?

I'm hoping my back doesn't hinder me this year. But soon as the bass are up out of the mud from there winters sleep I'll be out there as much as possible. After missing most of last year even a school of drinks would make me happy, happy.

My goal is to break the state record. My PB is at 10# and I had bigger ones on my line twice and lost then. I seen bigger fish swimming by me at the drop offs. So they say the third time is the charm. I just upgraded my rods and reels to better quality stuff with heavier action. I need a better stronger hook set.

I should hone my hooks too.

This is my year. It's time. I never planned this as my quest till I landed a 10 pounder. I'm fishing for fun. If the big gal bites and she weighs in as the new state record my life isn't over. Then my goal would be to set the bar higher and do it again. From what I'm seeing in the water I know it's possible.

I'm older and feel like the grumpy old men going after catfish hunter. I feel like a gambler with the big prize on my mind. But my odds are good I been there before.

Remember it's not luck, it's skill.

Since this is my first year back in the fishing game after an eight year absence, one of my goals is to be a sponge and soak up as much information as I can from these forums. I hope to be able to go fishing as much as possible but with our first child on the way Im sure my hands will be full most of the time. I would say my number one goal would be to learn how to locate fish on large bodies of water, so when my son gets old enough to tag along I can make memories of good fishing trips like those of my childhood.

Don't bother, just go get yourself some Trokars. They're sharper out of the package than you'll ever be able to get any other hook.

Relax more, learn new ways to fish this one spot with big swimbaits. Learn the art of swimbaits . I dont mean learn catch a few and stop. I want to fish 3 swimbaits this year and really understand how to fish them. How to make persice casts for the best percentage of slaying a hawg.

To fish before May!!!  The ice is making it tough   :cry3:

Getting on fish within a week of ice-out.  The last couple of years I struggled very early in the year.  I'd like to be on fish by the end of my second outing.  The early season is pretty tough around here.

i dont really set fishing goals, i let things come to me. of course i want to get better at it, just dont see a need to set goals. Less pressure of meeting goals = more relaxation while fishing...

I'm starting small, I just want to catch something. Anything really. I'm new to this and had two unsuccessful outings last year.

(After joining this site and doing some research I now know why we didn't catch a thing.)

This year I want to take part in some tournaments and hopefully win some as a co-angler. I also want to catch a PB and learn as much as I can about the sport.

My main goal this year is to make our 6 man team in our club. We have about 20 - 21 members and last year I finished 13th so looking to improve

big time. My next goal is to learn different techniques. Im not real comfortable with a spinnerbait and deep fishing 15+ ft. Then I would say my last

goal would be to be able to buy a bass boat.

Further develop jig fishing

Develop topwater fishing beyond just a buzzbait

Develop an ability to actually find fish instead of just fishing "bassy places" and hoping to get lucky

Break old habits of continually using just a few select baits. I own about three hundred hardbait lures and rarely use more than 20 per year. This does not even count all the plastics.

Only goal is to get out of bed each morning.  Just to continue do what I'm doing now until I'm no longer capable of it.  I love the species I fish for.

Besides just enjoying nature that God created....I would like to learn to fish a jig slow (learned the swim jig last year) and catch some fish away from the bank.
