Elite series on Kentucky!
That's an interesting point Olebiker. The fish here really like Bomber Fat Free Shads, Rapala DT16's, and DD22's. From the pics I saw KVD was throwing a DD22 and a Bomber, not a Strike King series 6. I could be wrong I guess but I had a look at his rods on his boat when he was putting them up after he weighed in on the first day. He had 5 different crankbaits on 5 different rods, on the deck. I still think his bigger fish came on a jig though.

Question about fish in the livewell
Thanks for clearing that up Lane. I'm sorry I misunderstood. I'm just trying to make sure I'm doing my part with the fish's well being. I noticed the smaller fish I caught yesturday got a case of the red lips. I should have recirculated the same water. It was the first time I didn't this time of year because I had read about the ammonia build up. I use 4-6 blocks of ice during a tournament this time of year. I guess by pumping in the new water , I just kept adding warm water. I have both of ya'lls products. I think when I need to recirculate the same water I will use the C&R formula. Chris

Question about fish in the livewell
Lane, I appreciate your advice. I'll take it and use it. I hope I'm not reading this right but it sounds like you are calling me a liar. On my old boat, the port side livewell switch would dump it's water when turned on to auto. Hydrogen peroxide won't help when there is no water. It was when I first got the boat and was unaware of it. It killed 2 fish. Again, thank you. Chris Jones

MUST READ
It won't let me vote the way I want to. I vote for jigs, plastic worms. spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. I would say a jig but sometimes something else works better.

Question about fish in the livewell
Just a simple question and I would like to get a specialist to answer: Why do bass' lips and fins turn red in the livewell? I've only noticed this in the warmer months. I use a lot of ice, I put my livewell on auto (which means I'm pumping in new water), I use Please Release Me, I leave my aireators on manual (which mean they run nonstop). Is the red lips a sign of anything bad. I have only lost 2 fish in 4 years which was due to a faulty livewell drain. I can't say for sure what my survival rate is beens I don't know what happens to them after the weigh-in. I was unhappy to notice FLW had very warm water in the holding tanks at my BFL and I saw a dozen or so dead fish in their holding tanks on the release boat. I wonder if that is Rejuvinade in their tanks?

Jig and Pig work anywhere?
If there wasn't any crawfish in the water then they would be a delicacy to the fish. Which as I understand it, they are anyway!

Elite series on Kentucky!
5Bass, it doesn't suprise me at all. When you take a guy like KVD and turn him loose on Ky. Lake, it's going to happen. Have you heard what the Elite guys are saying? KVD said Ky. is fishing better than ever. For the last 4 years the weights keep getting bigger! I was really expecting somebody to catch a 25-27 lb. bag this week. When I first said I thought it would take 70 lbs. to win, I thought it was a 3 day tournament.

And the next two BASS Elite Series tournaments on Kentucky Lake...

MaxDal, I misread the post anyway. I'm glad you cleared that up. Brian, everybody owes you a big THANK YOU!!! Your time served must have had it's tough times. It's a sacrifice that is very appreciated! I hope you can make it to Ky. Lake next year! No need to bring a boat. If you make it, one of the days you could fish with me but, I want to wear the bracelet! I would love to swap jig techniques with ya! Chris

Temp Effects?
The deep fish shouldn't be effected much. Their relativity to structure and/or cover may change. Current and the cloud cover are usually the main factors on the deep fish. Sunny days or when a resevoir is pulling water usually put fish near cover. Cloudy days and cold fronts may cause them to suspend a little bit, which around here they do on and off anyway throughout the day.

Temp Effects?
Pending on how deep and how shallow your talking about, it's not likely that the fish that are deep will make a major vertical migration due to their gentle swim bladder. Fish that remained shallow may become more active though.

Elite series on Kentucky!
Hey guys, I came home and crashed last night. It was a tough morning out on Ky. Some big storms blew over Friday night and left alot of cloud cover. Some bass came off the brush and roamed. Finally, I started getting bit around 10:30am. The bass did suspend some on the side of the ledges. I caught all of my fish by lifting a 12" worm up off the bottom about 3 ft. and letting it fall. The problem was, I was banking on a couple spots that were discovered by a couple Elites. My boat had a coil go out on it early Friday so I spent all day looking for someone who could fix it( THANK YOU SPORTSMAN'S EDGE!!!) I lost the day of practice so I just went fishing on Saturday. I did manage to catch a nice 6 lb. 3 oz. LM! The rest of my bag were just swimmers. I like the way you look at things Preach! Looks like I would have got Purolator Big Bass too! CJ

This is going to be a problem!!!
I'm not scared, I just don't want to do that to one of the Elite guys. They're fishing for some big money but I still have a job to do. What's really gripping me is some of my competition is "hole stealing" and all of us locals will get the blame. I'm going out tomorrow to see if any of the Elite is fishing my spots that are holding fish or was anyway. I hope they have overlooked them but, they are the best anglers in the world.

This is going to be a problem!!!
I along with a couple hundred tournament guys are pretty upset. The Bluegrass Brawl and LBL BFL events are overlapped. The 3rd day of the Elite series and the BFL event will be fishing on the same day. This is a bad call on FLW's behalf. They should have moved us back or up a week. It's cheating everybody. For one, many anglers in general have been reported to be following some of the Elite members and GPSing their holes. > It's just cheat shots who can't find their own fish. Then the Elite guys don't go out until 8:00am, the BFL will blast off at 6:00, most likely. How many Elite guys are going to get screwed here? I have only been out once this week and that was yesturday evening because I understood the Elite would have to come off the water for a meeting. I didn't want to see them and I didn't want them to see me. Still though Ky. Lake is getting pounded to death. I just hope I got a spot left with some fish on it. :-/ CJ
