Really depends on where you are fishing. Like Shadcranker posted, smaller profile jigs or finesse jigs will get you alot of bites. I really don't think there is a "best" jig. Just look for one with a quality hook and head design that best fits the cover you fish.
  2. Welcome to Bass Resource. My mom was an upolster for years. She always said that it was cheaper to go buy new seats if it were something common. CJ
  3. Not everybody lives in Texas. I fish a trail on the Smithland Pool (Ohio River). The chances of catching a 5 lber, according to all of last years weigh ins, is about 1 out of 5000. There was only one 5 lber caught all year and only two or three 4 lbers, on this trail. At a fishery like this a simple lure change and slow down is all you could do. Another factor, are you fishing for points to qualify for a Classic? You may not want to chance "big fish hunting" first thing when your chances of catching a big fish are so slim. I've heard it several times myself,"we're gonna go to X and get a limit, then go looking for a big fish".
  4. Welome to Bass Resource! I'm not much on boat restoration. You will probally get better feedback posting this in Bass Boating and more. CJ
  5. It all depends. Alot of times it's change of location and lure. I may fill a limit in 6 ft. of water during late May then go drop a big t-rigged worm off onto a 20 ft. hump (just an example). Then I may not change anything. Big fish often feed during the middle of the day. So I may just be waiting on "big momma". Really it's a pending question that has lots of factors. It's not to often that I got a back up plan for a big fish. It's usually my first plan.
  6. I guess I stand corrected Micro. This is the link I compared the pic withhttp://www.freesnake.com/indianpython.html: Do you think they made a mistake?
  7. Muddy, reports have said the elbow is feeling fine. Earlier they did say if the Cards aren't in contention after the break, Pujols will probally go ahead with surgery. I just hope they do what is best for him in the long run. He will be the greatest hitter the Cards ever had and that's saying a whole lot! Stan Musial's numbers have set a high bar to any hitter. Anyway, I think it's the Met's turn. They really got a great team. Reyes is the most exciting player to watch in the game today and look what ya'll got backin' him. And I know all of your guys are hungry!
  8. WOW! What a way to break the ice. Nice fish Russ! CJ
  9. Ahh...I finally "lured" in the guy I was looking for! Risk kid, it ain't a good bet for me but it will be worth a few Rapalas just for the fun! I got Muddy doubled down and Gone-Phishin down. Sorry guys, that's all of the Rapalas I am willing to lose......if I lose! Muddy, Grandma said it was okay as long as it was a friendly wager. DISCLAIMER:Bass Resource has got nothing to do with this. It's not gambling only a friendly lure swap with stipulations. :
  10. I'll take that bet. I'll take a DT by the way. Pretty confident! That's good! I prefer a DT16 or DT7 flat.
  11. I snap into a slim jim...oooooh yeahhhh! 8-)
  12. Look closer. The outer, lower strand is insulted. It is laying across the fat part.
  13. The snake is an Indian Python.
  14. They're not photoshopped. Those teeth are some massive grippers. I'm a little rusty but I think that is a Reticulated python but it has the size of an Indian python. Must be an electric fence he's in. Looks like he recently ate too! A snake of that size could eat a yearling deer. If the photo isn't fooling me.

OOPS!!! I didn't think they were rolling that camera. : I started driving tractors and farm trucks around twelve. Us country boys do things a little different I guess. I let my 7 year old steer my 21 ft. Stratos w/ 250 hp. Is that bad too or are we just living up the moment?
  16. I say, tie on a Rat-L-Trap or vibration lure of your choice, and go sling it! Work as much area as you can. Fish can do things, as far as location, that baffles the most educated of fisherman this time of year. BTW, you need some wind to help a trap bite.
  17. Man that's a great story! Thanks for sharing it. Sorry for your loss. Your brother will always be with you. My Grandmother was always my biggest fan. No matter what I did, baseball, bullriding she was there with her support. Her passing was the reason for my Papa to buy a fishing boat which put him, my dad, and me back out on the water. She's with us everytime out.
  18. Okay! I gotta brand new Rapala that says the Cards will post a winning record against the Mets!
  19. WOW! I hit that link and while I'm listening to most touching performance, I've heard, of the National Anthem, my 2 year old baby girl walks over and begins to sway to the melody. Thanks for sharing! CJ
  20. IMO, nothing beats the real thing. With that said, both WR's, brown and green were caught on artificial. To me, locating the WR and catching her is the main feat. Regardless the lure or rig. WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE BREAK BOTH OF THESE RECORDS SO WE CAN HAVE A POSITIVE THREAD ON THEM!
  21. Bottom line is....you like him or you don't! Best thing to do.....keep it to yourself. Bass fishing is a growing sport. It doesn't need critizism from it's own! I'm like Senko77. I didn't read all of this but when I glanced at a couple post a Brad Pasley song came to mind.
  22. Ronnie and Speedbead, What BPS request are you talking about? If it's classified....okay then or send me a PM. Remember this is Bass "Resource". Chris
  23. Muddy, you da man! Wish you were making it but I understand your reason. Again, thanks! For those who are attending......Can't wait to meet ya! I won't be arriving until Monday around mid morning. If any of you will be around at that time, I'll be launching about noonish. If not, look for a white, black bottom Legend w/225 Optimax and wave me down if you'd like....that is if your not to busy wearin' em' out! Chris
  24. Yeah..they sold the seats to the old Busch Stadium. I couldn't afford one. Just a couple more weeks guys and it will be game time!!!
