Lonestar Shootout
Yep, I figured they were spawned out. If it's anything like around the house, the guys are probally finding congregated groups or lots of quality fish on one spot of structure? I love post spawn fishing. Pull up on one drop and load the boat! Ofcourse timing is everything. I bet there will be guys that make a big move today.

Don Moorman - Double Hudd Rig
Pretty cool article. I got the chance to play with a double fluke rig down at G-Ville. It works! The thought of double Hud Shads had already crossed my mind for fishing ledges this year. Looks like I'll be giving this a try.

Jig color selection for prespawn
Color could vary with season but, water clarity is main the factor. I fish green pumkin with my trailer dipped with JJ's chartuese. Recently though my home water has been much more stained than usual. Texas Craw (black/brown red flake) has been the color that the fish seem to see better. Jig fishing the prespawn is all about the presentation and profile of the lure. I always keep my presentation slow and may speed up as the water warms but slow never hurts. This is a time of year when crawdads are coming out of their own winter hibernation. They aren't gonna be dancing and hopping all over the bottom during the cooler water season. Just remain slow with your presentation and pause for a few seconds inbetween your short, slow drags. I have had much better success during prespawn with a smaller profile jig such as a Booyah Baby Boo or an Eakins Finesse jig. I haven't really sought out the reason for the bass' preference this time of year. It may match the hatch, it may not. One thing I do believe that the slow rate of fall is key. Hope this helps and good luck, CJ

classic country
How bout Bill Monroe I agree Hank Sr. was the man! I like all the outlaw guys. Not as ancient but definantly a classic: Chris Ledioux is the one artist that I could relate to. He sung alot of Rodeo songs but alot of his songs were ballods that really fit the American cowboy lifestyle. It wasn't "how" he sang but "what" he sang. R.I.P Chris Ledioux

Kentucky Lake April 26-28
Hey man, the lakes are 2 1/2 ft. over summer pool and rising. We are getting alot of rain right now, which will probally run it back up to about 4 ft. over summer pool. The fish are already shallow but scattered for the most part. T-rigging the bushes have been the best pattern, slow fall is key. The fish will still be shallow when you are here. I don't know but at sometime the TVA is gonna get the water level back to normal. How they go about it, will determine if the bite get's slow for a few days. If they crack a gate, the water is gonna get muddy. The temps have still been in the low 50s. I expect they will reise and probally be good for more active type presentation by then. Spinnerbaits, shallow running cranks, and flukes. Really, there are so many ways to catch fish on Ky./Barkley. I'll keep you informed via PM. CJ

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
AJ, If you use the Corp of Engineers maps it takes 5 of them to make up Ky. Lake and that's just down to Big Sandy. Then it takes two Hot Spots to make up Barkley and a few Corp of Engineers. Guys and gals who are coming. Ky. is an awesome lake but Barkley in the Spring is hard to beat anywhere. It's just a few miles to either lakes' many boat ramps.

Temperature Trends
I may be getting to technical but it looks like you guys can handle it. If a "bass is a bass" then I got a few questions. 1. Why do they spawn in different waves that stretch out over a two month period? 2. Why is it often that bass are caught at various depths on the same day? Expample: I've caught a 5 lb. 7 oz. bass two years ago on a chug bug in 4 ft. of water in July. The same day I caught another 5lb. 1 oz. bass 20 ft. deep on a jig. 3.Why do some tend to suspend while others hug the bottom? 4. Why do some bass choose to stay shallow year around and some look for deep water? I guess you mean biologically a "bass is a bass"? To me saying a bass is a bass is a shallow statement. On my home lake never are all of them doing the same thing.

Temperature Trends
WRB, I'm not one to attack anyone personally. I think you took me wrong. I was serious. Sounded like a great day! Anyway let's forget I asked. Back to the subject at hand: I feel, temp and it's trend has everything to do with bass activity and positioning in the water column, cover, and structure. Why do you think bass often suspend on sunny days in the winter and prespawn?

WRB, I wanna know where? When? What Lure and presentation? Month? Time of day? Weather and sky conditions? Water depth? What bottom contour? Was there current envolved? Structure? How they were relating to the structure? Cover? How were they relating to the cover? Water temp? And since we're on the subject, water temp trend? Seriously!!! I'm not doubting or calling you out. I really wanna know!!!

Best tough guy actor on tv/in movies
I like alot of them mentioned. But to add, I like Robert Duvall. Eastwood and John Wayne were great. I also agree with 4Bizz. Val Kilmer was great in Tombstone! "I'm your huckleberry"

4th Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
You'll only need TN license if you go south of the Paris Landing bridge. This act (I forget the proper term used), was reinstated 3 or 4 years ago. The paris Landing bridge is over 20 miles south of Aurora. Then a TN license is good anywhere south of the 68 bridge (Egnersferry Bridge), with the exception of Blood River.
