  1. I agree too, read the articles. They'll answer your ?'s about rod, reel, line, jig types, trailers, etc. I might have some thought on how to start out fishing them though. I think of a jig mainly as a craw presentation. It's really not that hard to imitate a live crawdad with a jig.Crawfish mainly dwell on the bottom and bass are often targeting them there.By simply casting, letting your lure hit the bottom, then "do nothing!"Let it sit a few seconds then gently drag it on the bottom.Don't drag it far and don't drag it hard or fast.During the pause leave a little slack. When you tighten up to make another small, short, and quiet drag, you want to be "like a cat sneakin' up on it's prey".Feel for your jig lightly.Occasionally you will hang on even the smallest rocks and twigs.Try to come through everything as gently as you can, except for the roof of a toad's mouth!Tune in to your line and relax your presentation.I think you'll get bit if you try this. The more you fish jigs, the more tricks you'll learn that catch fish with them.Good Luck!
  2. That's a good bag!Congrats!
  3. My thought excactly,Catt.I know alot of fish that didn't mind rattles at all.
  4. I use the same size hooks on traps(4 on front 6 on back),gammys.I use them in the grass mainly and I think they come through cleaner, leaving the smaller hook on the back. For smallmouth, which do get in the shallow grass here,I've done good on a LC LV-7.Also caught them out on the points and flats with it.I think they tote a 4 on front and back.
  5. I use them on jigs when I am fishing deep.I am usually fishing a brushpile or stumpbed.I can't say that they help but I haven't noticed them hurt.

    Stratos Mercury or Evinrude?
  8. I agree a jig will catch fish anywhere.I fish jigs in my home lake which fishes deep and shallow.I went to Florida to find out that t-rigs and weightless plastics were the ticket.Really those type presentation were more suitable for the grass and weeds.

Chris
  13. There's been alot of talk about lure colors and their effect.I still just can't simplify them.It may be a confidence thing but I think the right color selection for a paticular lake,on that day,can give you an edge.Drop-shot for example, color seems to factor in clear lakes with this technique.JMO
