So what about these ???
Is that a topwater?I'm guessing it is.Looks like the same concept as a prop-bait,which works well.I notice the "prop action"would be toward the rear of the lure.Booyah went the other way with that long arm buzzbait they make.

11" green pumpkin
The work great, along with other colors.I fish 10 and 12 inch worms alot on my lake in the summer.

3rd Annual BR.com roadtrip- location
I have mention Ky./Barkley Lakes.Central location and boat rentals are availible.Plus there are several kind and curtious members who own boats in the surrounding area. Oh...and btw Ky. ain't Fork but it is a dynamite lake for prespawn fish as well as Barkley. Now,double digit LM are rare to non-exsistant here but 6lb. smallmouth are not.Just a thought.CJ

River Fishing and the Drought
Anybody got any tips on fishing river pools(Smithland on the Ohio)during this drought. There is no current,it's hot as Haitis.Fish usually like to pull up on the shallow points and banks that have cover and feed. That's when there is current. It's really like the dead sea and there isn't much deep cover or structure to this pool.Just radical drops that go from 40 ft.-2 ft.Some vegitation back in the creeks but it's hard to get to.

most underrated lures/baits
I think alot of the old school lures are underrated anymore. All the new stuff has pushed the 6" lizard and the ribbon tail worm out of the way. Around here, the most underrated lure is a finesse worm. I agree about the inline spinners too but for me they are just under-sized.Tubes are a good mention as well.

Demystifying Structure
Great info CATT and others who have added. Just to clear something up,do you feel this info holds true on all fisheries in all sitiuations?

Chris Hamilton Benefit Bass Tournament
Thanks for making me aware of this tournament.I will spread the word!CJ WOW! Just checked out the web page and this is going to be a great event for a great cause. It is unfortunate to hear about this accident. My prayers are out for Chris and my support is out for this event. Any of our guys who fish tournaments should check out this tournament. It's gonna be a good one!

Different types of vegitation.....approach
I have heard hydrilla and elodea are top oxygen producers? Due to the worst drought in my lifetime,I have had to forget the ledges due to lack of current.I am catching fish in or on the edge of weedbeds.Pondweed has been a #1 producer. My favorite lures are a weightless senko and a toad. For inactive days I have had success by slowing down and giving the senko long pauses.

I cant fish deep! am i missing out.....
Alot of good info.Electronics are a must as noted above,to me it is the combination of electronics plus a topographical map. A simple but good tip is to inquire about the water you are fishing. Some rivers and lakes don't fish very well deep. But those are few and far between.JMO

Other People's Tackle
Amen,Fluke! I rarely use other people's tackle.Mainly because I have to much of my own. When I invite someone to fish with me they are welcome to any of my tackle. To me,fishing is about fun more than anything.I would hate to see someone have a bad time because I didn't share a lure with them.

Boater Needed (LBL)
Strat284,no promises,but I'll see what I can do. CJ

Other People's Tackle
What you said pretty much sums it up.I am always willing to try something different.Anytime I go to BPS or out of town to another bait shop,I make it a point to buy something new.The more confidence lures you aquire, the better angler you will become once you have learned how and when to apply them.

changing crankbait hooks
Amen,Kelley!Split ring pliers saved my fingernails.Dang those little cuts under my nails hurt.

Most Overrated lures....
nra4life,that's not nice. I think a lure brand is mostly a confidence thing.Sure Lucky Craft makes good lures and so does Megabass. They have features other lures don't.Overrated?Maybe...Over priced?Definantly. As far as jerkbaits,Smithwick Rattlin' Rogues are hard to beat once they are tuned properly. Most overrated lure? The chatterbait,IMO CJ

Cleaning hard baits
One thing an angler must do is learn to handle hooks.Take them off to clean the lures by hand with whatever it takes to get the rust off.Be careful using scrubbing pads that may dull or scuff the finish.I have gone as far to use WD-40 on some real rusty lures.About the rusty hooks,if you sand or sharpen them the rust will come right back because you remove the finish.I subjest going to Wal-Mart and getting some Gamakahtsu trebles, but Eagle Claw are better than rusty hooks.

Caught Smallmouth Warning Others
I have had it happen to me a few times.Usely when one breaks the line or comes off.Who's to say that was the reason they shut down or I didn't get anymore bites in that spot.
-
Pickwick Smallies (yest.)
DG,if you got to www.tva.com they have a release schedule on that sight. You may also check the previous day and they update every hour.Just in case you didn't know. Nice fish!

Worm/jig bite
I agree CATT.Nice thread. For the most part an angler must be quicker with a jig but it is not always that way.
-
Gonna give a Jig N Craw a try
Sounds like a football head is what I would use.I like PB&J or brown(maybe purple flash).Twintail grubs work well in clear water as do most narrower profile trailers. Just slowly dragging a jig and letting it fall naturally as possible off the rocks can be a great presentation on the right days.Good Luck

Fishing Structure
I don't think of it as my favorite structure, but the bass's favorite structure.Regardless "structure"is key this time of year, especially when there is cover nearby. I guess I do have a few favorite spots. There features are horseshoes, humps, and as CATT mentioned intersections. As Roger mentioned they all have steep drops, and they all have some form of cover.
-
Gonna give a Jig N Craw a try
What depth and type cover or structure do you plan on fishing a jig?You gonna flip visible cover?Fish offshore deep structure or cover? What would you call the water clarity where you fish(stained, muddy,or clear)?
-
jig idea
Your will slow down your fall rate with that as a trailer. If you haven't caught any fish on a jig,I would keep it simple and go with a chunk or a twin tailed grub.On the other hand,I bet the Ribbit would work for some application.
-
Has anyone used this???
Nope,it's not made to be weedless. It's just a simple slide in jighead.

Another snake pic
I'm with GMan,it's a water snake. MattM,that's what Ky. copperheads look like too, once they show thereselves.
