    Welcome to the forum!
  2. I use the EWG Gammy treble hooks. They work great!
  3. A buck nor a female will flee to deep water overnight due to a cold front.I don't believe a buck would leave a bed for anything until the mission is complete. It has been believed that bass flee to deep water due to a cold front.Studies have shown that this imediate migration is unlikely. The largemouth bass has a gentle swim bladder that has to adjust to the depth/pressure. Shallow fish tend to hug up tight to cover after a cold front and will become less active.Deep fish however are not effected as much during a cold front.
  4. I like all of em' you mentioned and FLW or Mann's 6" finesse worm. Really,I like a soft pour finesse worm. The softer the plastic, the better "finesse action".JMO

That was just too FUNNY! ;D
  6. Yeah,I use split ring pliers.I feel they are a tool for any angler.Should be a groove on one side and a wedge on the other that points at the groove. The groove side will hold for the wedge to seperate the ring.

I haven't got to see Bill Ingvall, yet.I love comedians and watching them on TV doesn't do them justice.Live comedy is much better!

Welcome to the forum!Nice toad you got there!
  12. There's someone who would disagree but the Cardiff 100 isn't the best for a light lure.I got the 100 and 200.I may not have took enough time with them but I haven't had the greatest of results with them except for heavier lures.JMO.I hope you prove me wrong!
  13. The pic looks great!Nice smalljaw!Welcome to th forum! CJ
  14. Becoming a pro angler!....Great goal and I say go for it! However, the #1 thing for a professional fisherman to do is get his/her education first.I am sure you have heard that before but it can't be said enough. How about a degree in business or marine biology? You will need $$$ to get into pro fishing. You will also need an education. You will need to be able to market yourself to sponsorships.Sponsorships are going to be your backbone when your winning or when your not.Sponsors aren't just looking for the greatest fisherman but are also looking for anglers that are able to market their products, that are good public speakers, have a good education,oh yeah....and you need to be able to catch fish anytime and anywhere. I'm behind you %100!Right now all you have to do is get the best grades to your ability, fish your butt off,and KEEP THAT DREAM ALIVE! Good Luck CJ
  15. I use my 6'6" BPS crankin' stick for traps.I would stick with med.power for deep cranks as well.I just use 7' or 7'6" for deep crankin'. Here's a way to look at this factor: What if you were to tie a horse to a 4x4 post with a small chain? What if you tied a horse to a 4x4 tree with a bungee cord? Which one would allow the horse to slide out of it's halter easier? Am I making any sense?
  16. I got 14 of em'.
  17. Gosh,I hate to see that.So how did you get it out? Yep,that's a Chug Bug in Bullfrog.Caughts lots of fish on them last year including my topwater PB(5 1/2 lbs.)
  18. My Dad has a 170W.Great boat!Lowe has thicker guage alluminum than alot of the alluminum boat manufacturers.I feel for a 17' boat it rides as good as a glass boat. The 170 has 2 different livewells. If I were going to buy a smaller boat,it's what I would buy.I haven't seen many of the smaller E-Tec motors(Dad has a Yamaha). There has been some problems with their 225. Regardless, sounds like a good deal.I would jump on it.
  19. Has anybody used this reel?My Dad brought me 2 of em' he got from Wal-Mart on clearance.I know this model is a few years old.Just wanted some review on it.Thanks CJ
  20. When I first read the post I was wondering myself.Anyway, what about the baskets they make for fish?In my pre-boat days that is what I used for crappie.
  21. It doesn't suprise me at all.Alot of times it is a combination of 2 or 3 lures.Maybe a jig landed most of the winner's fish. Avid,I believe it is the combination of jig and trailer giving the bait a bulkier profile. The rubber strands in the skirt will float around after a jig has hit bottom giving the presentation a soft natural action. But with that said,I feel a jig is worthless with out a trailer.JMO CJ
  22. First off,IMO Berkley Vanish sucks and I'm not saying that after just one spool. When you talk about line size, most people think of it as whether or not the fish can see it.Flouro is not completely invisible underwater just less visible. Lighter line will change the fall rate, running depth, and the action of a lure compared to heavier line.
  23. I just looked at mine and they are moderate tip. I have 2 of the BPS crankin' sticks.I have only used the 6'6"(just got the 7')and I like it.The one thing I look for in a crankbait rod, other than proper power and action,is for it to have good guides such as Fuji.I don't feel the need for a top end rod for crankin'.I'm sure someone would disagree with that.I'm a guy who needs a setup for all the lures and presentations.I got a tight budget and a top end crankin' rod won't fit it.
  24. I have lost as many as 25 and as few as none.
  25. I use a 7" med power fast tip.I also use a 6'6" med light for shallow cranks and a 7'6" med for deep cranks fished out on the main lake.Regardless I use med power for anything that has trebles.
