  1. Wow!Detroit is plaiyn' some ball.I wish the Cards would have got the job done yesturday. Now Carpenter has got to start another game in this series and I thought it would be good if we could save him. They have to win today! I can't believe George would fire Torre.Alot of Yankees fans remind me of the Jews during the days of the crucifiction. They cheered Jesus on when he came into Jerusalem for passover then had him killed a few days later! How many times has Torre took them to the World Series? Then some Yanks wanna get rid of A-Rod(the next best hitter in baseball ).
  2. I would say go as soon as you got safe light. If you wait you will never know what you missed.
  3. Man,I just had to turn down 3rd row seats down the 3rd base line for St.Louis tomorrow. The Mets are lucky they are taking on a team that is crippled!

The fish here in Ky. have gotten over their transition and it has become smallmouth haven.Lots of good reports of brown fish and largemouths are doing great in the shallows.I will be glad to get this tournament over so I can get back home and catch a new PB smallie. I know what you mean Avid,we had a couple of weeks of transition and turnover. It really sucked.
  5. Been following this thread and I think it is a good one.I know where you are coming from Chris. It is becoming clear to me that today's pros are becoming more versitile and some are still fishing their strengths. I have a tournament coming up on a lake that is tough for me.I know a variety of things that work on this lake.Only a few of these techniques are within my element. So should I try to force the fish what I'm best at or do I try to learn the best technique going?I hope the fish are on to what I'm best at.If not I will go to what works best for the fish. To me fishing can be like dancing.I need to be in beat with the fish so I can get in the groove!
  6. I agree, location is everything.Alot of times you will be able to tweek a lure and presentation to get better results for either species. During certain seasons(well late summer and fall)smallmouth are often caught in the same gerneral areas as largemouth,on the lake I fish.I was talking to an elder angler who landed a 7 lb. 3oz. smallie on a spinnerbait right after catching two 4lb. LM.However he has gone onto find that both species are killing a spinnerbait but catching more smallmouth everyday. I really don't think there is anything that a smallmouth will bite that a largemouth won't.There are only preferences and somethings work better on certain days.
  7. The Cards always get these guys for a warm up! ;D Gman, didn't go back and see when I started preaching that Wainwright should come in and close but I'm glad Tony and Dave finally see it my way! Everything has come togather for the Cards the last 2 games.I hope they are on the upside and not peeking yet. I hope L.A. can atleast make this interesting.I'd like to see the Cards get a little rest before they run over the Mets or Dodgers on their way to the World Series! So, GO CARDS! GO DODGERS(for tonight anyway,I wanna see the Cards beat the Mets!) GO TIGERS(since your playing the Yanks) GO........I really could care less about the Twins or A's!
  8. I am needing to replace my front fish finder on my boat.I am looking for a good one for as cheap as I can get by.I was looking at the Eagle Fish Mark 320 and 480.I need something that will have good definition.I want to be to tell what I'm looking at as far as baitfish and whatnot.
  9. Mets and Dodgers Cards and Padres
  10. I have fished Kentucky,Tennessee,Illinois,Missouri,Oklahoma, and Florida. It's hard to say which state would be the best for me.If I ruled out Ky. because I live here and only vacationed in the other states,I would pick Florida.I fished Toho,Monroe, and Walk-in-Water in Florida.I caught over a hundred fish in a 7 day period.Several good fish amongst those and my father got his PB of 7lbs.15 oz. while there. Most of the quality fish I have caught have come from Ky. and Barkley lakes but I have hammered those lakes most of my life.I would like to spend a few months in Florida, say January thru March and see what I could do.
  11. Totally agree with Chris on the jig.Another thought is you made need to slow down your presentation and don't make erratic twitches or jerks.Try just dragging a jig real slow with pauses. If you don't get nothin dragging, make single hops and pause it for atleast 5 seconds.
  12. Well,I thought the Cards were making some magic but there in trouble. If they can't handle teams like the Brewers they don't got a chance against San Diego.I was hoping L.A would win the west because the Cards have dominated them this year. Anyway,it's going to take a miracle for them to get by the NLDS. The Yanks and Tigers is going to be a great series.I'm going with Detroit cause I don't like the Yankees. It will be Detroit and Minnesota in the ALCS. I want to say it's going to be the Cards and the Mets in the NLCS but it's going to take a MIRACLE!
  13. Well things are looking better for the Cards and worse for the Mets.I'm picking the Cards to go to the WS!Sounds crazy?Nope,it's all about who's hot and who's not.L.A is on a roll,Phils and Stros will go home,Mets are Pedroless,Padres might get by,but I think it will come down to the Dodgers and Cards and I think the Cards will beat em'! The Cards may have solved their problems. If the starters can keep it close enough, the bats are coming alive.Wainright can close games. He's got the stuff.Problems solved?I hope so!
  14. Bringin' the funny! You know Muddy,if the Phils get the wild card, the Cards will play the Mets in the NLDS.And Buckner isn't playing for the Cards.
  15. Yeah,I believe it was a young Florida team that handed them their butts a couple years ago. Muddy, the Stros are hot! I hope they get outta St.Louis soon.
  16. Or not, . I got nothin' to say tonight about the Cards except,
  17. Welcome to Bass Resource!
  18. Gman,Wainright is going to get the call!
  19. They may know you're there but do they know what your up to?
  20. I get more chances to sleep than do fish.I say fish, you will get plenty of sleep when your !
  21. Gman,I saw it and I agree that they should have pitched around Berkman.Carpenters Cy Young canidacy just went down the drain. Muddy,Steve Carlton....oops sorry ,I'm not Bassmaster7.
  22. That's where I was trying to go with this.Thank You Avid! I was a little down on this day but I'm not one to stay down.Just wanted to bring awarness to the mental aspect of fishing.
  23. He's alright!
  24. When I find myself in pressured sitiuations to catch fish be it a tournament or an outing with a newbie, sometimes the mental aspect can be overcoming.I recently got some advice from a member "no thinkin'...just fishin'!Possibly the best advice I have ever got. Now there are days that are tough and some that are even tougher, but somebody someway still manages a decent catch.During my tournament on Saturday, which was successfully pre-fished(I was on em'),my pattern totally failed.I was fishing topwaters, spinnerbait, vibration crankbait(rat-l-trap),and weightless senkos around grass points inside the bays.I knew the bite I was looking for would be limited to the morning hours, being it shallow and it was a bluebird day.I just couldn't find them and the ones I found were not biting, only bumping. So here comes that "Mental Monkey".Thoughts running through the mind of a young angler leading to bitter confusion.Time was running out,the sun was up.This is where an adjustment needed to be made. The one thing that I have found to be true, even a good pattern rarely catches fish all day long. There is a time during the day good patterns don't produce. After thinking a little bit,I decided to go hit some docks with a lighter jig.I fished a stretch of about 10 docks with only one taker,a dink.So I go out and fish a few ledges at different depths, notta.Switch to a small diving crankbait, head back to another stretch of docks that have quite a bit of brush around them, switch up the crankbait and the jig, notta.By now I'm starting to stink,my butt is getting handed to me on my own stomping ground, after a week of great fishing. My partner, who is a good fisherman but fishes by instinct that is led by little research on bassfishing. He just goes where he feels and throws what he feels(95% of the time,a jig).He was on the same pattern as me and had the same results, little action. He headed to the same thing I did, docks and brush within the bays.Only he ends up catching a 6 lber and a 3lber off the same dock.Luck may have swung his way but it's what he didn't do that gave him the opportunity, start thinkin'. "Thinking",on some days well help,on other days hinder.Thinking will help when approached in the right attitude but may only confuse even more when when mental pressure is added.Using some thought is a must but to think to much can be a bad thing. So,I have four words to tell myself from now on,"just go fishin'...STUPID! Sorry, don't mean to carry on with a sob story.A bad day on the weater can be some of the best experience. Any input? Cj
  25. Rat-L-Trap,horny toad, senko, and spinnerbait.Along with a spook and a t-rig worm(you might want to take more than one color),you will have something that will catch a fish.
