What else would you suggest?
I agree with Avid. What you got will catch fish but don't be scared to offer them a real meal.Alot of people would disagree with me but I suggest plastic worms t-rigged.You will mis a few fish but you will get bit.If you haven't taken time to browse around the article section, you should.

Match Fishing Update
I saw the Swindle/Clausen match.Swindle has lost my support. He is a crybaby. What was cool to me is Luke fished the same pattern I found myself on Barkley except I use a 5/16 oz. jig.I'm suprised he didn't catch a bigger sack than he did.I also noticed where the quarter finals were going to Guntersville. I can't wait to see Houston vs. Clunn.I think it is going to be a good un'.

Dead Bass
Looks like we may be hereing more about this one.Looks like FLW needs to stay away from there if that many of those fish have LBV.

How does a Jig Bite Feel?
KD28,that is exactly how I feel about it.

Drastic Drop in Temp
jasone,I'm going out tomorrow.I'm planning on starting where I left off (15-25 ft. deep)and working my way shallower if I don't get bit.I would say some of the shallower humps will come alive. An increase in current will be a bigger factor,if we get one.

General Bass Information
Try the articles.Look for the topic Bass Biology and Behavior. Some of the answers should be there and I am sure you will get some of the answers on this thread, which is a good one BTW.

This site
There's no use in getting worked up over somebody asking about another sight. We aren't a Branch Dividian compound. GAMEOVER,have you explored this sight to its fullest? There's not much that can't be answered here. Is there something in paticular you are trying to find or find out about.Other than BR there is only one other sight I use for fishing sources and that is the local one for me.

If you caught a new state record ..........
I would get it certified.I wouldn't be worried about my lake getting pressured, its big enough,I would have to keep my mouth shut about the area.It may sound bad but if I broke the record I would try my best to fully benefit from it......cuz I am a poor boy with a family.

fishing from back of the boat
Alot of good advice already.I'll second that you need to finesse behind him if that is what you feel you need to do once you are there. The main thing is to keep an open mind and be prepared(in other words pack a variety of confidence lures). If you don't know how you are going to fish until that morning your going to need mental preparation.Don't get to carried away with thinking about it just go fishing.A big factor will be if you are fishing deep or shallow. If he goes to wearing some fish out on a specific lure and presentation you may need to fish the same thing amd just pick up what he misses which will be easier in deep water.

Cool Underwater Video
WOW,I am suprised Bill Dance let them fish his pond for that video! ;D That's a cool video.Notice how much longer the fish would hold on to plastics.I was under the impression that those lures had no hooks or the hooks were tipped except for the one that were caught.

Your most effective way of catching suspenders
Needemp,How often do I target suspenders? Not to be a smartie but, when the fish are suspended.I try not to target suspenders.I never target fish suspended at 10 in 30 ft. of water cause I can't catch them often, although I did catch a 5 lber just yesturday suspended in 20 ft. on a jigworm(I think it was luck).I mainly try to target fish that are feeding no matter what their position. The fish on my lake usually suspend in the deeper water and move to the shallower ledge or hump to feed.I usually wait on them to move up to feed.I refer to suspended fish as fish that are inactive(not chasing bait at the surface)and suspended in deep water, not close to the bottom. As I mentioned, largemouth like to ambush their prey.Spotted bass and smallmouth are not as adequite feeders, they are chasers. They may be suspended yet in a very positive feeding mood. From what I have learned on Tablerock, jigging spoons and dropshots may be your answer?

Your most effective way of catching suspenders
Okay,I'll try to make this more clear.First I was posting about Largemouth, which are ambushers more often than chasers.I would say it would be hard for them to ambush while suspended without cover.I believe they come up to feed on the surface and to the water column holding the baitfish.Like I posted, fish suspend for more than one reason.A largemouths habits are going to vary from lake to lake.I should have also mentioned that I was refering to deep fish(10-30 ft. deep).I was also talking about post-spawn and summertime patterns.Sorry my post was a little wild.It was a long day. Your most effective way of catching suspenders
When fish are suspended they are normally in a neutral to negative feeding mood.Quality fish can sometimes be impossible to catch while suspended.Pressure due to boat traffic and fishing pressure will cause them to suspend.Lack of current will make them suspend on my home lake which is a river resevoir.Mature fish spend a majority of their time during daylight hours suspended over deep water. They are very tough to catch. I think there are couple ways to draw a strike from a suspended fish.A reaction strike or a finesse presentation.Jigging spoons, dropshot, jig worms, and jigs are what I use to "try"to catch suspended fish. Stroking or popping a jig off the bottom is the best way on the waters I often fish to catch suspenders.I let the jig hit the bottom then lift it high off the bottom then let it fall on a slack line. You may try the same with a jig worm. You may keep in mind that suspended fish aren't always in a negative mood. They may be suspended in a resting stage(these fish are definately not in the mood to bite). They may be suspended in or around cover, structure,or just below baitfish and ready to eat.Fish suspend for more than one reason.

Do You Remember Your First Bass?
I caught my first bass on a rooster tail(in-line spinner)out of the Clarks River in western Ky.Though my dad was a tournament fisherman at the time,it was my mother who took me and put me on the fish.I was 5 years old but had excellent casting skills. There was a clearing near a blown out bridge that held a number of bass and still does to this day.My mother lined me up to show me where to cast.On the first cast I landed the 12 inch largemouth.I was so excited I chose to leave imediatly to go show it off. I haven't been back to the same spot in a while but I take my two sons down to the Clarks every now and then so that I can hand down the experiences I was once handed.Wow,just thinking about it,"BOYS!GET YOUR POLES!WE'RE GOING TO THE RIVER!

Lure and pres.or location?
I agree with what you guys are saying. It is a simple question,or is there a such thing as a simple question when it comes to bass fishing? I don't really have one answer to the question myself.I know that location is key.I also know that lure and presentation is important as well. What is the first thing we do when we fish for a few minutes and don't get bit? The many realms of fishing makes some simple questions draw an inconclusive answer.
-
Lure and pres.or location?
Just wondering what ya'lls opinion may be on this? What would be most likley to get you skunked? Using the wrong lure and presentation or fishing the wrong location?

who would you fish with on this forum??
I would like to fish with everybody on the forum but if I was to pick only one it would be Rolo.He would probally throw me out of the boat because I would ask to many questions.

When I Realized Confidence
I have to say my confidence comes and it goes.I have gotten used to having it and not having it.

What do you consider a keeper?
I'm with RW.3 lbs. or better is satisfying.Although when I am fishing a tournament,whatever state laws say a keeper is,is a keeper.On my home lake 15".

How Long Do You Stay on The Water?
It's rare for me to be out less than 6 hours.Today I was out for 9 hours.I think it's pretty much common sense that you will catch more fish if your out longer.Sometimes you may need to go home if you start to loose interest or become exhausted.

setting the hook on big fish
When I said lightwire I was probally refering to a medium wire.About the same guage as a 5/0 worm hook.
-
setting the hook on big fish
If you are targeting drums go with a heavier hook.Drums have a thicker, tougher mouth than do largemouth bass.I have never had a big largemouth straighten my lightwire hooks(not saying they couldn't).
