Whittler, those photo lures look good.I don't visit this forum as much during the season.I am gonna have to come around more often.I will be back at it this winter though. BTW,I caught a good un' on one of those monster cranks I got from you.I painted it rootbeer and now I am gonna have to paint it again.E-tech lite don't like to get hot.It got rough up a little. On another note the foil bluegill was hot for awhile too.Your work is diffenantly proven!
  2. I have seen gar rolling alot in the late summer and fall.I have caught fish with them rolling but haven't took notice on how well. Thanks for that info, oba!I try to pay close attention to all fish activity especially in the fall.I have noticed that when baitfish are flipping or jumping, solo on the top, fishing can be slow(this would be in shallows).I was wordering if this could be low DO?Huh,baitfish observation.....would make a good thread. BTW,I see mostly if not all longnose gar.I don't think they bother bass. They rarely hit any of my lures.
  3. Best I could find was 17 games won by a Colorado pitcher,in a single season.Kevin Ritz and Pedro Astacio both went 17-11 at one time during their Rockie career. The Cards are going to be in this thing. However Mulder is NOT!I believe it is going to rely on starting pitching and for the rest of the position players to stay healthy. If it weren't for the inconsistant starting pitching and the ? Izzy puts over our heads, they would have the make up of a championship team!
  4. I have fished with 8 new people this year.A couple of them had never caught a bass before that day.Just to see there reaction when a decent size bass gives them a tug,man it's cool.I have only gotten to fish with one member of BR(Bud). We had a good time but it was January and it was cold.We still caught a couple dinks.
  5. The fishing could be different.I would check to see where the nearest tackle or sporting goods store is and go bug em".
  6. If you can see it in the water, they can see it.That is what I have been told.
  7. In 20 years when they speak of Albert Pujols....There will be NO MAN worthy of being added to the conversation!
  8. The Mets are going to wish they would have stayed home tonight!!!!!
  9. That would be the one sponsorship I could use!!!!
  10. I totally agree with you about Wright. He is going to be a superstar, well he is already.I think the Mets will own the NL east for a while.I still think Pujols has the MVP in his back pocket. HR RBI AVG. Runs Wright 22 90 .298 80 Pujols 38 107 .328 93 I know Wright has an awesome glove but Pujols may be looking at a Gold Glove this year! On the other hand,Pujols has contributed to the Cards as much as Wright has for the Mets,I mean do the Mets have a 13 game winner with an E.R.A over 5? :.
  11. Wright has more right to the MVP than Albert?
  12. I'm glad I missed the game last night. :(I guess I'll watch tonight.Let's see.....Marquis is pitching for the birds. He will throw a no hitter or give up 10 runs by the third! :
  13. I may have to do some shiner fishing myself in the early winter.I haven't tried it but I did get skunked for the most part last winter. I agree,On Ky.Lake the smallies are only going to get better unless we get another heat wave. The nights have started cooling into the low 60s,the lake is on the drop and that usually is a sign fall feed is just around the corner. Great post RW!
  14. The Cards just lost another tough onoe.If Izzy don't get it together..........I wish they would just give him away! > You can tell he is getting use to walking off the mound before there is 3 outs.
  15. I can't give a scientific explanation for bass schooling by class, they often do.I can say from on the water experience that I have caught larger bass that are schooled(5-6 lbs.)and I have caught larger bass schooled with smaller bass.I do think that seasonal patterns effect the schooling process. In the late spring(post-spawn)is when I have caught big fish schooled togather. In the fall I don't catch bigguns' togather nor do I catch bigguns' with smaller schoolers.I wouldn't say that these experiences would hold true on all bodies of water. Smaller largemouth bass are known chasers, where mature bass have learned to ambush their prey. Not saying smaller fish don't ambush, they just don't mind chasing. This may shed light on bigger fish being loners and smaller fish schooling during the fall feed.Just my experiences and opinions. 16. Man,I can TESTIFY.....but no footage .
  17. Smallmouth primarily feed at night.Especially in the summer.Jigs and spinnerbaits work around here!
  18. The many realms of fishing have caused me to curse the wind and to pray for wind!I live on big water.I gotta boat that can handle it but that doesn't make it easy to fish. The wind has caused me to not be able to fish some loaded spots but it has also pushed me into other bays where I had found some loaded spots.I don't sight fish due to my lakes lack of clarity.Sometimes the wind helps sell a crankbait or spinnerbait.Sometimes it makes it impossible to feel a jig bite.I guess it can go either way for me!
  19. I agree with Matt-Fly,any fish that gives you a memory. As far as what I consider a "good fish",I think a 4 lb. LM or a 3 lb. SM.That's where I draw the line.Anything over 6#'s is a toad here in the midwest.
  20. The best advice is to learn from that mistake and get ready for the next one.Cause if you are anything like me you make another! ;D
  21. I am a student fisherman.I am constantly trying to learn something new!
  22. For night try to locate a shallower point or flat near deep water.Increase your lure size and add scent and sound. Then slow your presentation down.Black spinners with big colorado blades slow rolled work well for me.I also like a 10" worm in junebug then I add a worm rattle and bead in between my sinker and hook.
  23. Reelady,I have a few of that same glass rap. They work well in the late summer and fall here on Ky. Cool pic BTW. fishinaz, good subjestions so far.My top 2 lure selections would have been a Sammy 100(walk the dog or spook style lure)or I would have had to wake a spinner bait. That would mean to reel the spinner up fast enough to bring it to the surface, let the blades surface and kick over then kill it for a second. If waking didn't produce I would just slow it down a little.Thats my 2 best options for schooling fish or fish in a positive feeding mood.Another good one would be a buzzbait and I always have something t-rigged on hand like a 7 1/2 worm. I always throw at a boil if I think it is a bass.Especially in the shallows, especially in ponds or small lakes.
  24. Cajun, its August 2nd where I live. ;DBTW,the world record smallmouth was caught in August if I'm not mistaken.
