  1. thanks for the advice ive been throwing out a size 8 or 10 husky jerk cant remember the exact size but its small the only draw back is it slowly raises back up instead of suspending and it seems like the fall fish love it
  2. so from the sounds of it power pro is the better and cheaper route?
  3. ok thank you so much for the advice im gonna have to try it out cause here in the north east water temp drops quick
  4. thanks for the advice i looked into the float and fly and what size rod do you run for it? i saw a lot of guys say 8ft and what not would a crappie ultra light work?
  5. hows the abrasion resistance? and what type of fc leaders do you guys usually use?
  6. i used a lot of baby paca craws over the summer with great results and for the craws and jigs how do you work them? and lastly what are case helgies i know helgies i use smaller ones for trout
  7. at my local crik ive still been fishing for smalles but now the water is down to around 42 degrees. my question is what baits would you throw and where would you work ive been trying to stick to the deeper waters which is anywhere from 4-8ft deep in slower current waters any advice would be great thanks
  8. thats my big worry spending 20 bucks on a horrible line and end up spending another 20 on something else
  9. thanks everyone ill probaly go the 832 in green than with a nice fc leader i just want something with a little more strength and little more less stretch
  10. has anyone used it because it says its hard to see underwater but im not sure if thats true and if anyone knows any other good braid for spinning reels please let me know ill probably be putting on 10# or 20# on my spinning reel
  11. yeah thats what i dont wanna go braid due to that exact reason it worries me too much
  12. and hooligan where can i find that line you mentioned?
  13. i was thinking braid but the area i fish is sharp limestone so abrasion resistance is a big must for me and hooligan what lb test do you run? ive been using 10# p line fluro clear for quite sometime now its good but still has its major drawbacks just been tough finding a good fc for spinning reels because how it just jumps off the reel unless you underspool it and smallmouth are mean sobs when it comes to hard dives and drives which is why i need a strong like across rocks so ill check out that one you just mentioned thanks the reason i dont really use casting gear much is the area i fish the max depth is 8ft but mainly between 3-5 feet so and the width of the crik i can almost totally clear with a quick snap with the spinning rod
  14. it would be used on my crik smallmouth rod which is a spinning set up which consist of light jigs and light craws and tubes the most ill ever use on the reel is 3/8oz most of my craws are 1/8oz and jigs are between 3/16 and 1/4oz same with shakey head i was looking at getting the 8# and thats exactly what i need abrasion resistance because the whole water way consist of limestone
  15. the reason i ask is because i wanted to use it for my spinning rod set up for fishing the crik i mainly use soft plastics and it said it was made for spinning gear so i might just bite down and buy it
  16. i saw this line in my most recent bass magazine and it says its made for finesse presentations and is made for spinning reels so my question is has anyone used it because 30$ is pretty pricey to risk it
  17. sorry just dont think about using punctuation for this, but i was asking about the difference between fast and extra fast rod tips, and which one should i use with jigs and soft plastics. also on top of that what are the pros and cons of extra fast
  18. thanks for the advice and i mainly use smaller size weights mostly 1/8 and 3/16 oz since im fishing a mainly shallow crik with deepest points 8ft deep i liked the fast action so far but wasnt so sure but thanks for the advice everyone
  19. im planning on buying a new spinning rod to chase smallmouth in the crik and river i came across the fenwick elite tech sm rod and have not seen one negative review but heres my dilemma i dont know if i should go with fast or extra fast tip i will be almost always be fishing jigs and craws with the occasional small crank bait or spinner bait i have a fast action tip rod now and really like its mix between backbone and flex i heard there are some negatives to extra fast which one do you think i should go with a fast or extra fast? all the advice would be great im really having a tough time and if anyone knows more insist on the difference between extra fast and fast please let me know i know the basics like upper part good for single hook but i also heard you have to keep a steady amount of pressure please let me know
  20. dang those are nice what size are they?
  21. i use those a lot too and noticed the same problem i recently changed to paca baby craws and have a little better durability
  22. went to a local outfitter that is the only person in 75 miles that sells ws and alls i can say is love at first sight seat is great shape size everything is so nice about it i cant wait for spring to get my hands on one and the 2012 ones are under a grand now i think i found my new favorite toy
  23. thanks for the advice smalljaw ill go with the 6'3 medium then as long as it cast pretty decent and can lob a 1/8oz a good clip ill be happy
  24. thats good to know how can it handle larger smallies cause where i fish theres some easy pushing 5-6# and i need a rod that can handle them no problem
