  1. For me wp mainly cause I'm fishing rivers and creeks. That being said I've been wanting to play around with buzz baits. I think they might also work well
  2. So I have mojo bass and for the price great rods. Im torn between a expride or custom they will come out to about the same price. I guess the plus side on a custom is yiu can get it exactly how you want
  3. Something that has helped me is after a cast I close the bail and pull out a little line. That little thing has seemed to help cut down on winding knots. I saw it on salt strong or some site.
  4. gall replied to Munkin's topic in Tacklemaking
Are you on river smallies forum by any chance? I remember reading about a guy who was doing this
  5. I have bps and Sportsman warehouse both 15 minutes away and Sportsman warehouse is totally bare in fishing and bps is dang close.
  6. Like others said go ml I fish a similar system with some more shallow water and lowest I'll go is ml especially since river smallies even a 12" can fight you like one double it's size.
  7. Yes the cork version That's what I was worried about I like the idea of lighter weight more then the top end rating
  8. Whoops yeah spinning rods
  9. Hey guys so I'm looking for advice on the cork version of the tatula 6'8 mf or the dobyns Sierra 6'6 mf. Both around same price tag the thing I do like about the tatula is the lower lure weight rating. But it's very minimal between the 2 (1/8 to 1/2 on thr tatula and 3/16 to 5/8 on the Sierra. If you had to choose any particular option?
  10. So it looks like I'm gonna probably go with the super slick v2 in 15#. I mean if my stradic can't handle that then I got big problems
  11. Thanks everyone for the choices now just gotta figure out which one.
  12. Looks like that’s what I’ll go with ha the low vis green just makes it tougher in current to keep an eye on the line. I'll order some from bass for curb side pick p with some other stuff since the spring fishing classic isn't going on
  13. Hey guys so I'm on the hunt for a new braid for my creek set ups. I'm looking for a hi vis braid in 10-15# range. What's everyone using? It seems everyone ans their brother males line now a days so I figured get choices here.
  14. Where you at in Central PA? I'm having a slow time near harrisburg but the rain hasn't helped my case
  15. Haha I mean you will learn where they like to hangout throughout the year. Believe it or not last summer I found a spot that was killer. The key was a whacky rig 1/8oz weedless 5 dinger in gp/blue Drifted down into the Eddie's and log jams around the pillar. It has a good mix of low water and deeper rifts and just letting it drift when it hit the slack water or little trenches they were stacked up. You'll get a feel for it man I'll stand by this statement river/creek smallmouth fishing in pa/va/Maryland there's nothing like it but when you unlock the puzzle boy you can get some huge ones
  16. Yeah man those big ol chunky females man. I wet wade for the spawn and nothing more exciting finding the beds and just watching them react
  17. Everyone gave killer advice gp tubes, craws on shake head t rig craws. All killer also weightless stick baits are killer. I always cast side up stream at 45 angle and drift it. Also jerk baits swim baits. My favorite 2 are a weedless weighted whacky head drifted. Also walmart sells these very light weight ewg jerk baits wirh the weight near the bend. Those with a gp stick bait drifted is a killer for me near Eddie's and pillars. Anywhere theres a slack water. And of course whopper ploppers torpedoes are always killer. I modify my torpedoes so they will work more like a popper.
  18. I'm central PA like harrisburg region I've been going out kinda scoping some solid waters getting a feel for the areas. I have 5 spots that are killer during the spawn. Now I just gotta work some pre spawn and get ready. Like you spawn creek smallies is so much fun! Also the susky is a great smallmouth waters. The creeks I fish all spill into it so we get some big ol females make their way into them for the spring. Seeing your pic gets me all giddy shame this virus is going on I was fixing to stock up at spring fishing classic.
  19. So form what you guys are saying maybe avoid war eagle? Well now since it's in New ownership?
  20. This is why I get so excited when you reply to one of my post you're truly a wealth of knowledge. So the wire gauge for the actual spinnerbaits is it a lighter gauge or a heavier one? Sorry to pick your brain apart jusy trying to get a good basis
  21. That's what I would like to be able to burn it especially across riffles and seams. Then letting it spin down in an eddy. With blades do yoi use willow blades for the ability to burn it? Also any special color blades or stamped not sure if that's the right word.
  22. Small I was hoping you'd chime in, was it this forum or the othee one yoi were talking about cranks and spinnerbaits? So you. Might be able to answer this head type do you use the hidden head or? I see a lot of talk of compact spinnerbaits you know blah blah 3/8-1/2oz in a 1/4oz size.
  23. Hair jigs are extremely up. On the list for me. I use finesee jigs quite a bit they have worked pretty well for me so far. Something abour fur/hair jigs has as much appeal to me as it does the fish
  24. I always forget about in lines! One. Creek I fish they destroy in lines.ill have to stock up in some of them too. Also I'll check out Siebert.
  25. Well hot dang I was trying to remember the name of them and couldn't. I hope they have a stand at the outdoors show if not I'll still go ha.
