I have booth reels and they are booth great with the Curado being easier for a beginner to learn to use. As for the rod I haven't tried the Duckett because the guides look too small to me. I like my Micro guides just a bit larger. Also look at the Rage line of rods I looked at one Today and was very impressed. I had a few concerns or I'd have bought one on the spot.

I made it to Cabelas Today but they were out (or I didn't find) the $1.99 Rapalas. They did have a few Dobyns rods Savvy $99 Extreme $219 I got to play with the new Rage rods. I wanted to buy one so bad!

IMHO I am not really familiar with the sabot slugs but I'd think around 75 yards would be a max range I'd want to shoot a slug at a deer. I assume you have a slug barrel & a scope? Sighted @ 50 yds= 0'' Shot @ 200 yds= -14'' If you can only sight it in at 70 I wouldn't try to shoot anything much past that.

I just checked out what it looked like on Google maps. It has around a dozen long piers that Google doesn't show . Anyhow it is a shallow lake normally only around 7' at the deepest. Other than that it's a nice lake with Trees / brush everywhere!

Last Sunday I had a chance to go to one of my local lakes (Miami county State Lake). The winds must have been 30 mph & the waves were breaking over the top of my Kayak. I think the lake was turning over as I could only see my paddle about 2'' (Yes inches) in the watter and that was it ! After about 15 minutes The wind got to me & I went home SKUNKED! So it looks like I can slip away this afternoon but I'm not sure were to go . If that lake is turning over would I be better off to go to another lake? How long does a turn over take? If I do go back what should I use ? Black & blue?

You may want to get a piece of wood say 20''x40'' x3/4''. just something smaller than the top. Screw all 4 legs to the board 7 then screw that to the table top. I am not sure I am following you correctly on the apron but will "pocket holes" & screws work?

My concern is that the magnetic (only) break has just 4 settings.

What size would you get for a 7' MF rod ? 2500?

I like Power Pro or 832 braids. Another thing I'd use a 50# braid as it won't "dig" like a smaller diameter braid will. I use the high-vis Yellow or Green line and take a sharpie to the last 7' instead of using a leader.

It may be the time of day. I fish a lake that they bite in the morning or evening. During the day I don't catch a lot there. Another thing the last time I was down the ones I caught were super fat I couldn't imagine they had room to eat anything else.

No thanks, I'd rather fish when I want to and I'd prefer to be the only one on the lake.
