  1. no love for zebco omniflex braid for 7 dollars a box =P
  2. Try Boca canals since its not too far south of you, man its the closest thing to a salt water fight.Need a break from bass fishing. I caught one that was 3 ft long, I've only caught 3 and it was my biggest. I had to use my thumb to stop the spool from time to time. Once I got it out of the muck I wondered how I was going to take the hook out. The hooks barb was flattened so it hopped off and flopped back in. Caught one the next day and dragged it way back from the water. I missed a few and ended up catching more bass which isn't what I wanted. Fishing these on a medium rod is fun. My veritas would probably make it way easier. I have some cheap Walmart spinner baits i may use also, they are a buck each so if they last a few fish they may work out better than the frogs. I may go this evening and again tomorrow in the coral springs area near the sawgrass and west sample road.
  3. x2 for the carbonlite combo, unless you need hella drag. I love mine (older gold reel/micro guide rod-$179) and plan to buy the newer soon($199 @ 5.9oz). Its soooooooo light, smooth and cast lures a long way.
  4. going after some on the weekend
  5. I tried fishing one with the m/h setup in my avatar on 65# braid...it was far from graceful....the yum rig will sit in my bag for a while
  6. I see all these perty reels that Id like to possibly purchase and they are RH only or in one gear ratio. I think I may have to use RH reels also I can get what I want. Anyone else feel this way at times? I could buy the new carbonlite in 5,6 and 7 in RH but only 6 in LH...Id have to buy different models to get all 3 ratios but that defeats the purpose of why I wanted them. Looks at Lew's and same thing, next company,,same thing....*cries*
  7. Which ones were the ones that you bought?
  8. I used some Gander Mntn frogs and yum money frogs this weekend that passed. I also have some Stanley floating ribbits that you dont have to constantly reel in since they float. I caught one that was about 3ft long and fought like a Bonita. Ive also caught them on rage tail toads and I assume zoom horny toads will work well....I realized that I didnt want to ruin my Spro frogs or any other ones when it came time to take the hooks out. They give me the creeps sometimes...I prefer the heavier frogs because they cast farther(gander/yum). Id like some mendit or possibly some elaztech (zman frogs) for durability.
  9. The main thing that stepped up the sensitivity for me in the biggest way was using braid and better line, even on the crappiest rods. I do buy better looking and supposedly better functioning equipment to maintain my sexiness while fishing so even if I get skunked, I look good doing it.
  10. The reel is solid, got one recently and love it. It bombs lures and has an awesome amount of drag.
  11. I much prefer how my carbonlite feels over my citica. Can't talk about long term but if the pq feels the same way Id be satisfied as I've never used one.
  12. scary, especially the part about waiting 1hr in that water...luckily you made it
  13. I love mine, the more I use it the more I feel justified in the purchase 7 mh micro for 99 can't go wrong
  14. I also have the last model and I love it, very smooth. I wish they had more lh versions of the new jm reel. Might have to buy in right. The combos are up on the site on a new page
  15. Booyah pad crasher is gooderer
  16. I don't mind fluoro but my makeshift crank rod was/is also my spinner buzz rod and top water rod so I tried some mono to get away with everything but the feel is eh. Haven't tried cxx yet so I can't comment if that will cover all areas for me to get by. Once I get more technique specific I can vary things a bit.
  17. Ive tried with all lines, but I like using it because I can feel the bait better. I can't comment on big deep lakes with rocks and timber but from the shore I've done well. I haven't been ripping hooks from fish as many say. I don't have a real cranking rod yet so I use my medium and have used a mh. When I get a real cranking rod things may change. I'm interested to see if anyone uses it as it's unconventional to most.
  18. They added a bunch of reels. Caenans, victory spinning and casting, orra spinning reels, penns. Looks like more to come
  19. any more reccs? yes i bumped an old thread rod action and length reel ratio line type and lb 1/2 1/4 3/8 spinners
  20. Id love to hear how it does
  21. I use a trilene knot on every thing Go through the eye 2x, twist the tag end around the main line 5x then back t thru the loop you made from going through the hook eye. Push those twists down the main line while pulling the tag end. Moisten this while doing. Knot strength is great. I also use palomar but 99.9999 percent trilene knot
  22. They salute me in this store.I take pics all the time lol. I shoot video in there at times. Never had problems
  23. I have nothing to compare it to as this is my 1st time using fluoro. Any probs I had with it were my fault from not being used to it. I did have it break on the spool from birdsnest where the line was bent badly. I tried to be gentle with it. I ended up Splicing what was left on the reel and what I had left on the new spool of line and was able to fill my reel back up. Now Im accustomed to it it works well. Im using it on my cranks, spinners and worms.I didnt use any line conditioner which people say helps alot initially
