Probably a little late since I bought a micro Veritas today online, but have a micro guide question. Do certain types of line work better than others? Can you notice differences or advantages between mono, flouro and braid? Also, does anybody have any experience with cotton clogging the guides? Looking for any good/bad experiences with the micro guide rods, not just the micro Veritas.

Just bought a Veritas on eBay today... Brand new for $80. this guy has his own shop and had severAl items for sale, with lots of feedback and free shipping. I've never had a bad eBay experience, but I'd stay away from this guy.

I'm more of the mindset that color is down the list on variables when choosing a bait. I use many different plastics, and can't tell you the last time I threw a color other than black or green pumpkin. I'm not a fan of bubblegum and prefer natural colors, and might go to a baitfish color for a fluke or other jerk bait, but other than that, it's black or green pumpkin. I've got a lot of confidence in trick worms and brush hogs, and think the depth and speed you're fishing them is waaaaaaaay more important than the color, but that's only my opinion.

Has anyone tried the Castaic Jerky-J? They look like a pretty sweet bait...

How were you rigging the crawler? Try a similar presentation with soft plastics. I wouldn't suggest soft plastics on a bobber, but a slow, deliberate presentation like a weightless trick worm or senko might be the ticket. I've used actual GM senkos, but prefer Bass Pro Stik-Os.

I grabbed a Compre cranking rod earlier this year and have to say it seems very light compared to my Mojos. I like the Veritas as well, but don't own one

My favorite is a Spook, but I'm becoming a bigger and bigger fan of the jig and craw this year.

I came to the conclusion last year that I only throw basically 2 colors of plastics. If another color was working better, I wouldn't have known. I have since thinned out my tackle to those 2 colors. Keeps my plastics inventory down and my wallet fuller.

Good advice. This is a great beginner outfit, and works well for an experienced angler. I've got 4 pro qualifiers that I've used for the past 3 years. Excellent quality for the price.

I used to use the Snag Proof Scum frogs, but now only use them for pike. I think that you can't go wrong with the Spro or Live Target and prefer those brands.

I have been using the rubber bands for 3 years now with 0 issues. I have also fished out of canoes, kayaks, and small 2-man boats and just grab gear accordingly before heading out.

I like Zoom for the price, color selection, availability, and the great baits. I've seen the Rage baits, but they are too hard to hard to find in my area. Zoom has revolutionary, timeless baits in the trick worm, finesse worm, fluke, brush hog and horny toad. Favorite colors are black with green pumpkin a close second.

I like the Paca craw for trailers, but if we're just talking a craw plastic, the Yum Crawbug is hands down my favorite.

I like the R.C. 1.5s and the KVD 1.5s. The 'rattlin' KVD's are a BPS exlcusive.

If that was a Rage craw dipped in JJ's instead of a white grub, would that be sporting?

Thanks, and my wife would definitely agree with the OCD part; I just got tired of not being able to find the baits that I was looking for which resulted in me buying multiples of a lot of the exact same bait, which resulted in the need for much more storage I got the rubberband idea from an In-Fisherman episode and I haven't dealt with a tangle since.

Not quite, but thanks. Most of the "Creature" baits that I use are GY Kreatures.

I don't think that there is any way to gauge just how long a fish can be out of the water or how much handling a fish can take before it will be fatal. A good practice would be to release the fish as quickly as possile once it is landed. Being afraid to touch the fish or hoping that it will dislodge the hook itself is irresponsible and also ineffective. Like clayton86, I'm 26 years old and can think of very few fish that have died from me hooking them. Keep in mind that those fish died at the boat and there is no telling how many fish die that you hook from delayed mortality. I can also think of fish that I've caught more than once which is proof that Catch and Release works and not fish can survive once they are caught. That being said, it is important to take care of the fish and release them as quickly as possible. A pic is ok, but while getting the camera out, leave the fish in the water and wet your hands before you touch it. Do not weigh the fish if possible and do not let the fish go until you've tried to revive it and are comfortable that the fish can swim away on its own.

Awesome bait, and big bass love them. Even the infamous, Rage Hawg is just a knockoff of the original Zoom bait.

How can you say that one is better than the other when you obviously only fish one brand, or at least claim you do? I understand that you're trying to promote your sponsors, but when you bring it up in every post, it lessens the effectiveness of your promotion. I just think it's funny that you always say Rage is the best, but is that comparison after you've fished Zoom products right next to them? I've tried the Rage Craws and caught some fish, but also used a jig with Paca trailer at the same time and also caught fish. Tried the Rage shad and caught a few fish, but put on a shallow crank and caught more. For the availability, color selection and price, I think that Zoom has a lot of great options.

Wow, surprised much? Rage makes a good lizard, but you can't argue with the Zoom Lizard's history of success or price. For my money, Zoom is the preferred bait.

You'll hear a lot about "Rage" products on this website, and they do work. But... So do the other million jig trailers on the market. I'd start with some Netbait Paca Chunks. Cheap, and they are effective. Rage are good products, but Strike King is proud of them $$$$$$$$$$$$
