Flatheads are mean, apex predators. If you’re targeting them fish where predators would want to ambush prey and use live bait. Biggest one I’ve caught so far was on about a 6.5” bluegill suspended under a float.

I’m in Omaha and have yet to see this Muskie explosion. They've been stocked around here in various lakes and their impact is not noticeable. The best bass lake within a hour of me is the only one with pike in it; go figure.

May I aske where this run is? I know you get into them every year. As a guy who is lucky to catch an accidental walleye on my nearby lakes once a year, I am totally jealous. I drive 5 hours to fish walleye and usually can’t catch 2 over 15”.

That first fish weighed 4 lbs? It looks like a bullhead and 4 lbs would be an insanely big bullhead.

Just got off the ice about an hour ago. Limit of panfish in 45 minutes and I beat the incoming rain.

My ice season started this past Friday on about 4” of ice. Was on 8” this morning with -9 actual temps. Fished outside the hut most of the morning but my hole kept freezing up. So glad the ice is finally here.

Besides swimbaits, black and green pumpkin are all that are in my tackle box.

He’s not from Florida. Those were homegrown Nebraska frogs.

We used to catch them on floating frogs all the time; a fly rod with a little piece of foam or felt is more effective. They will literally eat anything that moves next to them. My dad caught one last year that had a blackbird in its mouth; not sure how he caught the bird but he still hit me dad’s offering. Were you watching Miliken fishing?

Good to hear. I personally don’t understand the draw if tourneys but like to see people adopting the MLF format. I don’t mind people taking fish to eat, but hauling around in a live well for a weigh-in and a picture doesn’t seem right to me; it would also be illegal in my state.

Is that not what you do in the KC area with your Wednesday night tourneys?

We sold our house in May and it sold within 3 days of being listed and we did for sale by owner. Our next door neighbor sold their house within 4 hours on initial list; good luck is all I can say.

Vanish is not a great line period. Try regular Stren mono in the purple box.

Would highly recommend using tongs or something else to get the baits out of the Gulp juice. Love the baits but that stuff gets fused into your skin if you submerge your fingers in it. Makes it tough to drink your post fishing trip beer; using Gulp has helped me become ambidextrous though. Can't drink with your right if you've been threading 1" Gulp fish fry on your jig head all morning.

The answer is Forrest Gump. Watching Forrest jump off his boat waving all the way down to see Liutenant Dan makes me laugh every time. It's a good movie with a lot of subtle humor about some of the biggest historical events in the USA at the time; love it.

I might be getting old (31)and consider myself a diehard fisherman. The other day I realized I left my 2 Helix units at the house once I got to the ramp, and, SERIOUSLY, considered towing the rig home for the day. Never minded fishing blind before I got my electronics and now it's one of my favorite things about fishing. If I left my Vexilar unit at home for ice fishing, I wouldn't even consider going.

I’ve got this connection on my trolling motor and battery charger and therefore on my batteries. One broke and I need to replace but I can’t find them anywhere. Anyone know what this is called and where I can find a couple?
