More Crappie Action
Good job sir! Is that a Bobby Garland? Recently had a guy from work tell me he cleaned 25 crappie the other day and only the white crappie had eggs. He showed me the pics and his "white" crappie were female black crappie and the "black" crappie were the males with their tuxedos on. This is a guy who fished a lot too. Got to love the fishing community.

Muskrat problem
Muskrats usually like really shallow water. You sure the drought didn't hurt the fishing?

Summer fishing without electronics
Do you have a boat? You can argue what makes a good fisherman, but I would strongly argue that saving a few bucks for even an entry level fish finder will serve you much better than dragging a c-rig around. I've heard a lot of guys say that and get that it might help you that day, but what about the next time you come to the lake? Watch on here or your local Craigslist and you can get a pretty decent unit for $250. I would hold out to make sure you can get one win GPS though. Again, not saying that having a fish finder is mandatory, but it will make you a better fisherman and more efficient.

Best popper for bass
I have 16 of these baits in 2 different sizes. I like this bait but think the Spit'n Image is the best walk the dog bait I've ever seen. I search EBay daily for these and buy all I can.

Fish grippers on bass?
Thank you and I totally agree. To me, it's a lot of these wannabe tourney or YouTube guys showing what their best 5 weigh. I weighed my PB Bass that went 8 lbs 1 Oz and haven't weighed one since. Just my opinion.

Bait suggestions for rainiy weather
Chatterbait for the vibration if the water is really muddy. This is also a great time to fish the newly flooded vegetation and bank structure that is normally above water with your confidence bait. Mine is a jig but a square bill or a fluke style bait is great for covering water.

Not trying to be a jerk, I was just pointing it out. The orange on the edge of the fins and the spots below the eyes is why I was saying that.

I'd call that a green sunfish or green sunfish hybrid, but not a bluegill.

Garage Storage / Shelving
Closing on a new house in July and was wondering if anyone had any ideas or stuff they’ve successfully used in the past for garage layouts? My brother in law just did his with a lot of cabinets but I don’t know if I’m crazy about those. I guess I don’t really see the benefit of cabinets over traditional shelving? Cleaner look I guess? I won't be painting or woodworking a lot so not too worried about needing cabinets to keep stuff pristine. The ceiling will be 12' high as well so really interested in overhead storage options. Anyways, any ideas or layouts you have used would be appreciated. Attachments: IMG_1789.png

bank fishing-what to look for?
I would also suggest to budget as much as possible and try and save up for a boat, of any kind. i got a sweet deal on an older boat for $1,800 2 years ago and I've caught more fish and been more excited about fishing than ever. $1,800 is no small amount and if you keep an eye out you'll be able to find something cheaper that will still get you out on the water. When I was adding up how much I spent on lures and gear each year, I made the choice to hold off on that and save up for a boat. I've bank fished a lot and you can catch fish doing that, but a watercraft of any kind will lead into many more possibilities.

Rare animal sigthings
I saw a hawk struggling with a flopping rabbit just outside my neighborhood last weekend and told my wife to check it out as we approached. "Hawks eat meat?" was her very surprised response. I just looked down and pretended like I didn't hear that.

Helix 7 SIGPS Fish ID
Wayne, your posts are why I initially started using the Fish ID. Any idea why I can't see them with my Helix 7?

Helix 7 SIGPS Fish ID
I've got a Helix 7 SIGPS and I can't get any of the fish ID symbols to show up. My trolling motor unit is a newer Helix 5 with 2D and Down Imaging and I can see lots of fish symbols but nothing with the transom mount 7. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Helix 7 and Autochart
Once again Wayne saves the day. I am honestly grateful for your help here and appreciate your feedback to this and other replies. The chip was right where you said it was. I did preface the email with a "forgive my ignorance".

Helix 7 and Autochart
Wayne, Firgive my ignorance if I'm missing something, but the zero lines card is much too big to fit into the side of my Helix. Is there a way I can still use the Autochart?

Ram Mount Question
Thanks guys; I had a Lowrance Elite 5 and the plugs got bent from being removed and re-installed. They are pretty flimsy if you ask me and it took forever to get the correct placement again. I've been a little gunshy about the plugs ever since but hopefully the Humminbird units stand up a little better.

Ram Mount Question
I've got a ram mount for my Helix 5 on the bow and Helix 7 at my console. Do you guys leave the electronics on the mount when trailering the boat to and from the lake, or do you disconnect them and put them in the truck? Thanks in advance.

Mapping Chips
Does it matter if you're in 2D or Side imaging when motoring around making the map, or will it still record the depths on either setting?

Chatterbaits?
I like a Havoc subwoofer rigged sideways; cheap and effective. That trailer on one of BlueBasser's homemade chatterbaits caught more bass for me last year than any other bait.
