  1. Regardless what you think of Obama, it would have been a pretty cool experience to have him come to your small town. Personally I'd like to see him speak in person. Even those who can't stand him at all, have to admit he is a good speaker.
  2. I guess the sensitivity can depend on how you fish with the rod....My brother holds all his rods/reels so he is holding the line at the same time. At all times. Personally, I find it uncomfortable, but that is an instance where sensitivity isn't as important.
  3. I do the opposite I guess of others. I just keep crankin'. Even when I hit something. For me, I've found that if I stop, I get hung, if I keep going the lip will deflect it up over.
  4. Find a shop that has Ugly Stiks, AND others....A BPS Outdoor World for example. Check them out for yourself. This will make you more able to make a decision that YOU are comfortable with. If I were in your situation I would be watching the Flea Market, or BPS clearance sales this spring. You will get much more rod for your money. Hell I'm not afraid to admit being married, and especially now, being a student, I've put rods in layaway. Never spent more than $200 on a rod that wasn't on layaway. The wife doesn't notice that spread out, but over $200 for a rod in one hit, and I'm going to hear about it.
  5. Depends on pressure and conditioning. It used to be impossible to NOT catch fish all year long on the right color spinnerbait up here. I don't even bother to fish them anymore.
  6. I don't. I fish for fun. Use to pre-fish for a weekend series with a buddy, and fished a couple, but Brian Hensley always beat everyone. He's pretty good. If I look to fishing much of anything it'll be NBAA sturgis division if I can find a partner..... If the BFL goes to Burt/Mullet, I'll try to sign up as a co-angler.
  7. Not far from me at all. We live right across the road on Klinger down from the Marina
  8. Agreed on the coaches vote. Lots of finagling went on there I'm sure. Not only from Saban, but from David Shaw too. I'm sure he would rather play OSU than Alabama. That was probably another 4th place vote for OSU. The biggest reason for a playoff. I can see Alabama winning this game, but a point or two.....Then what? FWIW I watched probably half of the Alabama/LSU game, and to me, Alabama looked like the better team.
  9. Eliminate automatic qualifiers. Winners of bowl games into into a playoff. Bowl games are played two weeks after the end of the last game of the year. Start the season 1 week earlier.
  10. A good square billed crank will pull right through some knarly stuff. Haven't in some time, but I used to fish river lay downs with a hand full of old Poe's square bills. Just crank and crank. Those things will pull through anything.
  11. That a flourocarbon weed guard??
  12. JIGFISHERMAN. replied to J Francho's topic in Gun Forum
Nice! Man were those the day's or what? Our boy's are getting BB guns for Christmas. First ones ever. Took some convincing of mom though. And they are BB guns, not a real air rifle like that thing.
  13. Where at in SW Michigan?
  14. I've learned to re-evaluate my thinking on some of these guys. They guys that are consistently at the bottom are still VERY good. After fishing against a guy named Brian Hensely from here in MI, that most of you would have no clue who he is, and get creamed by him....... He and his wife were catching good fish out of lakes that everyone agrees is full of dinks. He fishes BFL, and Everstart series events. http://www.flwoutdoo....cfm?mid=172925
  15. Ish is actually pretty dang good. He may not be skeet, martens, van dam, Ike and a few others, but he's pretty good. http://www.another site/profile.asp?pro_ID=43 Over 1 mil in earnings.
  16. That's a shame, because I really think that overall VS does a good job. Outdoor show's, obscure but entertaining college football, INDYCAR, some Nascar, very little poker. I have still not figured out why Poker is EVER on ESPN
  17. I'm with you.....In the past I wasn't big into crankbaits, and so I would use one rod. The flexy M rods work ok for smaller bandit's and DT'4's etc. But the big baits they are too soft. Ya you can bomb them out there so far it's ridiculous but that is the only advantage. I like a bigger crankbait rod to be relatively stiff so that I can rip free from grass, and so that when I impart any kind of action (rip/twitch/etc) that action isn't absorbed by the rod. 7' M for small cranks, 7' MH for bigger cranks. Actually prefer a sensitive rod for the bigger cranks too, because I'm usually trying to get just to the tips of the weeds. With a relatively sensitive rod I can feel where I'm at with the crank a little better. I'm using an older Falcoln lowrider 7'MH for bigger cranks and a BPS crankin' stik 7'm for the smaller stuff. I don't see any reason to upgrade either one, to be honest. (I would like to pick up a Revo Winch for the heavier rod though.)
  18. it's really hard to argue with KVD. That guy has SELLING POWER.
  19. Well since there is a thread going about the most useful technology, outside of fishing, I thought it would be neat to hear thoughts on technology in fishing. What has been the most useful technology, developed for fishing, in the last 20 years. Better yet, in the last 20, last 10, last 5
  20. The Next Bite is also on WFN.....Not saying that Versus will change, but several show's Versus carries, WFN also carries. FLW, Hook N' Look, Lindners Angling Edge, Next Bite, and others.
  21. All depends on Profile IMO. If the short ones work for you, so be it. I normally trim them a little bit longer. Then, there is the Mop jig. Let the fish tell you what they want. FWIW, I like my skirts a little longer so they get less detail of the trailer. I want them to see the "claws", maybe the head, and that's it.
  22. Are you a big O jig pro staffer?
  23. There is one. World Fishing Network.
  24. My jig rod is going down to 10lb YZ Hybrid this year. Even with 10lb line, I'm able to turn any fish around here, before it buries itself in cover. My jig tackle is way downsized compared to some of you guys.
