  1. wow, you guys thought I was bad, he crazy, lol.
  2. I do a complete teardown and grease and lube once a year, and a drop of oil on the spool bearings once a month on my Shimanos and no problems ever. I know how to work on reels, been cleaning my own since I was 12. You might be right about the fact that the Abus have way more bearings than Shimano, and that they require a lot more attention. My reels get a beating some days, but they are very well taken care of, I mean they dont have a scratch on them either. When I said Abu lost their buttery smoothness, I wasnt talking over a year, I mean it was only a matter of months. I went from the S, to the SX, then to the STX to try and resolve this figuring I need higher quality in the brand, nothing. The STX did last about 7 months before getting the boot. Im just speaking from my own experience on the brands. Whether people follow my advice or not, it wont bother me. Im not a bandwagoner, due to I have always had Shimano, and always will. My first baitcaster was a CU-200. I just really like their products, and feel I get my moneys worth when I buy one. But anyway, take the advice on the Revo S and Veritas, better deal.
  3. possibly user error? Any line is going to be tough if you are not skilled with baitcasters.
  4. dont use Ultra Soft unless for spinning. TW has 600yd spools of regular for cheap.
  5. You must be talking about the wrong line.
  6. Sshhhhhhh, your gonna make people mad, lol.
  7. sure you can narrow them down to what works. How do you do that? You buy as many different baits and colors as you can, try them, and then figure out which ones produce the most. The rest of them go in the "collection" tackle box, lol.
  8. would only let me put 6, I wanted to add P Line. Ill count the vote, lol
  9. There are inner and outer brakes that are spring loaded.
  10. That Sienna is a good little real. I just got one from NAFC. Put 30# braid with a YoZuri leader, and I use it for finesse fishing on a M action rod. This thing is smooth, and handle fish real nice. Its a 2500 series, and is perfect for small baits. Cheap, maybe, but perfoms like a $80 reel.
  11. I had an SX, and the mag brakes are a bit finicky to get used to. Once you can get past the fact that you have to be VERY smooth with your casts, its a good reel. I didnt have it, or any of the other Abu's that I had owned, for very long before that "smoothness" that they have when new went away, and the real quality of the product showed itself. Im sure there are people that have had Abus for longer than I could tolerate them (and I know they are going to comment on this), but they just didnt last with my torture. I have tried the BPS, and Abu route, and will not even bother with the Lews (because they are all madde by the same company). But, if your gonna get an Abu, I would get the S due to its easier to adjust for different weighted baits by setting 2-3 brakes, and adjusting finer with the spool tension knob.
  12. I would get the S, cent brakes are just better all around for various weighted baits. The mag only systems can be finicky to adjust when changing to a different bait. Cent you can just set 2-3 brakes, and make minor adj with the spool tension knob.
  13. Hootie, there is a simple solution. Use the discount and buy a bunch of different colors. Dont worry about the price because you will forever be in "fishing debt" as my wife puts it. There are days when "eeny meeny miney mo" works, and some when they are just picky. I slowly buy crankbaits, and other stuff that I may not use all the time, but its good t have when experimentation or "toss the whole tackle bag" comes into play. In other words, suck it up and start collecting, because its just "fun", and you cant take the money with you, lol. Good luck buddy.
  14. Im not all about "milking" the worm, lol. I have made a mixture of Spike It Chart. dye and Yum Garlic spray, seems to work real good. Just make sure you keep it in the Spike jar and use a syringe to extract it and spray it in the bag of bait.
  15. nice fish.
  16. Fighting a fish is a littlle different then the snap of the tip while casting. The impact load is not the same.
  17. If you are willing to buy used or new off the ebay, you can go for the Curado E. If your looking for new at a store, go for the Curado G or the Chronarch E. All are great reels for under $200. If you are looking for a Shimano rod too, I would go with the Compre. As for the line, you need to get yourself a spool of YoZuri hybrid.
  18. You just have to be careful when casting, as it may put too much load on the tip of the rod and cause problems like tip break. If its that you are flipping or pitching, you may be ok.
  19. I use mine with a 1/32oz bullet Texas Rigged with a 3/0 EWG hook. A few tugs and let it drop. Too much weight, or too big of a hook kills the action.
  20. I see the haters are already complaining. lol
  21. A 6`8 MH F Compre would be a good pair up.
