  1. Yea think I will return it. It’s weird. Only does it under a load. If free spinning feels great. Was only throwing 2/5 oz spoons and 1/2 oz lipless cranks. Nothing heavy
  2. Bought a new Pflueger Patriarch baitcaster, spooled with mono. Really smooth and nice at first. While casting and reeling lures notice a weird noise plus does not reel in smooth at all. Feels like Line is tangled, almost like wants to stop. Don’t see any tangles when removed and rod is new.
  3. I put my Patriach on a Dobyns Fury and felt way out of balance. Returned it bought a St.Croix rod
  4. Its a really nice reel, glad I emailed them. Like i said its a thin rubber sleeve that peels off. Looks are deceiving
  5. After reading this I ordered my first Dobyns rod 663c and will pair up with a Lews reel.
  6. From Daiwa: The handle can be used on both sides without issue. The post sits at a different length on each side, but there is still threading and the handle will catch on either side. There is a small black rubber collar, just switch that to the opposite side. I feel like a dummy, take finger nail and there is a small rubber seal that comes off and exposes the threads needed to put cap on opposite side.
  7. I learned how to throw Skitter Pops and other poppers on 5'10" Ugly stick from a Kayak, loved those rods! I have traded them in at BPS trade in sales and now have Fenwick and St.Croix Rods which are lighter to throw all day IMO
  8. I sent Daiwa an email this am asking about it. I really like the reel except for that small issue.
  9. I bought a new Daiwa Fuego Lt spinning reel from Cabelas, I reel right handed so I removed cap and installed handle as I do on every spinning reel we own. I went to install cap on opposite side of the reel and would not go on. Closer inspection shows there are no threads on other side to screw cap on! The Legalis Lt and Exceller Lt and Tatula Lt all have threads on both sides. I returned it thinking defective, check 5 other reels in various sizes and none have threads for cap. Anyone else seen this?
  10. My Pflueger Supreme xt spinning reel is in about 6' of water in Northern Michigan river since July 05. Had to leave to had home, will try to fish out when I return, will take apart and let dry once I have I locate it. (slow moving river and lots of rocks)
  11. I have gift cards for Cabelas and looking for a new baitcasting rod under $150. I fish a lot of lipless crank baits, Rapala floaters and jointed, wacky and poppers. Need help deciding which rod to get? I was also looking at the St. Croix premier line. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know one rod wont do it all but its what I have plus a spinning rod.
  12. Gander outdoors BOGO 50% Strike King lures
  13. Have a new Tatula LT 2500 coming in the mail plus bunch of top water lures from TW cant wait.
  14. Daiwa has a new Tatula LT 2000 for $189.99, Cabelas is offering a trade in sale if you live near one you can save $30.00 off the list price and seen on Amazon for $167.00 with free shipping. Very nice light reel.
  15. Thanks, will order one this weekend. Cabelas and BPS both dont have any in stock in stores.
  16. Anyone tried the Daiwa Tatula LT spinning reels? Rated very light weight.
  17. been watching lot you tube about pitching and flipping. I have been throwing poppers and buzzbaits for many years. Trying new techniques this year
  18. I like the sales on braided line this year plus I have 2 rods and reels to trade in. Moving up to baitcasting this year.
  19. Are Dobyns rods light? I fish from a kayak and prefer the lighter rods. Does the rod have to be at least 7'? I have never fished jigs and from reading on here seems like longer rods are preferred.
  20. I fish from a kayak and only use 6-6'6" rods. Will these work for jig fishing? Have not tried jig fishing yet. Was looking at Fenwick Bass Elite Tech MH 6'9" if need a longer rod.
  21. I have been looking to switch to braid this season and may have to check this out. Thanks
  22. I fish from a sit in yak and cant stand. I throw wacky worm, buzz baits, top water poppers and floating Rapalas. I use spinning gear. Does anyone use baitcasting gear from a yak? How about pitching and flipping jigs from a sitting position. Watched some you tube videos that guy makes it looks easy.
  23. I agree 100% pmoneyfishing Thanks Burke. Never thought of Ghost braid or braid that thin. Will have to try that
