  1. the bass in your lake won't eat any other worms. you are destined to lose the tournament or you could make do with something else and build confidence in how you wiggle your worm
  2. I understand wanting to stay cool in the warmer months but that puts you in an ice bath when you need it the most. (believe me i tried out this theory myself ) buy insulted for the cold months. and buy a cheap pair of hip boots for the warm months
  3. flyfisher makes a good point. in pa i only need the stamp if i'm on 'trout only' sections of rivers. i don't need it just b/c they stock a lake with trout. but i do need it if i'm fishing that lake during trout stocking season, even if bass fishing. i'm pretty sure that's correct but it gets confusing. my trout stamp is only about $8 so i buy it regardless. i like to support the programs, stocking, lakes, children's smiles etc.
  4. simply awesome A-jay bonus: my gf thinks ur an amazing writer
  5. buy multiple pairs of wool fingerless gloves with fold over mitten. i found them at Kmart for $6 a pair. just like ones below. as mentioned they stay warm even when wet. http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Gander-Mountain-Fingerless-Ragg-Wool-Glove-with-Pop-Top-Mitten&i=441153&r=view
  6. What~ I hate when bad things happen to good people. Thoughts and prayers going out to his family.
  7. 10-4. i even signed out of gmail/chrome, cleared browser history, cookies, re-booted etc. this isn't my first rodeo and i'll admit it has me stumped
  8. Lol and what do we do when that doesn't work?
  9. i'm in the same boat. been trying to get out but no luck. signed in/out. checked/unchecked notifications. still no dice
  10. Gmail and google Chrome. You save credit/debit card info to auto fill into any site I NEVER buy online/or in stores with anything but a credit card. Only thing debit card is used for is taking cash out of a trusted ATM. even my monthly auto payments run on credit card
  11. Yup I have discontinued elite smallmouth. Wanna trade trade or buy
  12. winter would be so much better w/o DST . i heard it has nothing to do with energy anymore. parents don't want their kids waiting in the dark for the morning school bus. a friend in local government said they are the powerful constituency that prevents change soccer mom outrage anytime they try to do away with DST
  13. do not buy the Elite Tech Smallmouth. I've gotten a lot of great gear based on BR members but this would be one I regret. the guides are cheap metal and the lowest most guide broke off like a hot knife in butter. honestly i could tolerate it if the rest of the rod was quality. however the blank is dull like fishing a wet tree branch. there are so many other good rods in the $100 range; powell, shimano, abu; i haven't fished them but i only read good things about ***; used st croix. fyi i have the 6'9" ML w/ braid as main line and fluror leader for drop shot, tubes, weightless plastic. you know it's bad when braid can't help a blank
  14. I love when it happens b/c it's an instant wake up call that i'm fishing too fast.
  15. did you email Spro? can't hurt
  16. alarms should go off in ur head when ur 100 ft from shore, not 10 ft. you'll be amazed how fast the wind and current can blow you, and ur rods, into a bank lined with trees. it sucks so bad once ur rod tips and their lines are tangles in trees and the wind is blowing with boats waking you (tip: cut the lines at the reel and save the rods; some of the lures will be hanging in the trees once you regroup and come back). buy a .99c pool noodle. you can attach buoys to so many things in case they go overboard. if you use a anchor tie a pool noodle to the end of the rope. in case of an emergency you can ditch the anchor, rope and all, and the buoy will float to the top for easy retrieval (however you can't have knots in the rope ie 100ft of anchor rope tied in a 10ft knot and dump it in 25ft of water when fishing from a yak my number 1 priority is the kayak, not tipping it, and not fishing. i'm prepared to lose any fish, including my PB, at the side of the yak before i'd overreach and tip. that mentality has kept me from tipping a yak and made me much better at playing out bigger fish. learn to paddle with one arm. you'll end up playing out a fish with the rod in ur weak arm while paddling into open water with ur dominate arm. pack much lighter when you first start fishing in 15+mph winds. learn how to anchor in light winds before you start doing it in monsoons
  17. Iac's 'Panic Box' http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/iaconelli_panic_box.html TLTR
  18. keep ur biceps and elbows close against your body. watch how KVD and other pro's do it.
  19. yup it's the same in PA. it might be easier if you go to the court house. i was in the same situation with no proof of sale and the lady just told me to make up a name/address b/c they don't have time to check. and even if they did it's just 'due diligence' and they will move on if the phone is disconnected etc. the big thing is they will run the hull number to make sure it's not stolen. also i told her i paid $200 for the canoe and she said "why do you want to pay taxes on all that? just say you bought it for $50". the court house employees literally suggested i break the law. i thought I was on candid camera. in PA registration is different than a title. i can get a title for an extra $36 but who needs in on a canoe/yak.
  20. there are so many good youtube videos on opening reels, even the PQ. if ur going to be fishing alot it's inevitable ur going to have to work on ur own reels. it's actually easy even if ur not mechanically inclined. i was dreading it the first time but decided to only clean the gears and grease the drag. i opened/cleaned 3 reels before I started on the bearings. by that point i was confident i could get them back together w/o problems
  21. i learned something similar from trout fly fisherman. they called it an artificial lift. how many times have you been lifting ur rod by the boat to lift a lure out of the water and re-cast when a bass slams it. it's that sudden directional change/angle/ push to shallow water that triggers the strike. but the majority of the time bass see the boat first. to avoid that lift ur rod tip high 60+ft out for the artificial lift before they get a chance to see the boat. works like a charm
  22. i crushed it on chatterbait's for 3 seasons and it dropped off this year. i just didn't throw them as much bc i was focusing other techniques and when i did tie them on i wasn't getting bit like i used to. i realized later that i switched to paddle tail trailers to get rid of some 4-5" swimbaits I had laying around. i never tried the subwoofers but they look right up the alley with an erratic tail. i used to kill it with the Zoom Split tail trailer and am switching back to them for the fall. like everyone said slow roll it for the low thumping vibration. if you slow down even further the blade will 'turn off'. a small twitch of the rod tip will turn it back on. i can't tell you how many times they kill it when turned back on. deflecting off cover works great. burning it when they are aggressive. getting it stuck in the tops of weeds and ripping it free is also devastating. chatterbaits around grass and cover. spinnerbaits still rule around chuck rock b/c the chatter head wedges so easily whereas the low hanging spinnerbait lead head giving you warning before ur buried in chunk
