  1. This should flush the salt down the rivers and thin out the Bay. The Snakeheads should love it, and may take advantage of the opportunity to expand their range throughout the Bay.
  2. Ya, I thought the Mod.'s would appreciate the edit, I was like OMG when I saw it.
  3. Local News - "He spoke Monday with the National Weather Service about how the storm will affect the region." "They anticipate that Sandy will kind of sit on top of the Mason Dixon Line and pound us for a good long while before heading north," [ MD Gov.] O'Malley says. He says the storm could be upgraded to a Category 2 hurricane by the time it reaches Maryland. I don't know what to say, or think, about that statement
  4. No,, that's what happens when my wife is distracting me while I'm trying to post.. . . . I'm out, and my store can't get anymore SA Octoberfest.
  5. CNN - HMS Bounty Famed ship sinks off North Carolina; 2 crew missing.... Let's say a prayer the missing will be found, they have their survival gear on and have a chance.
  6. As of 10/29/12, 12:00L, Sandy has been a ***** cat in Waldorf, MD. So far we're received some gentle on-again-off-again much needed rains and moderate wind gust. I hope this will hold throughout the storm. Our County Gov. has shut down all services, but as tradition would have it the mail came on time. This storm may fit another weather model which says "The severity of the storm will be inversely proportional to the media hype"; we'll see. Stay safe people. WHAT !, we can't say Pu*** Cat ?? 's
  7. WAIT ! We're all assuming he can read !
  8. Hang in there big guy, I know this sucks and all I can suggest is ........ Nothing, I haven't got a clue........ If you find out how to get back to normal ( I mean normal for most of us, normal for you is another subject ) please let me know. One thing I do that helps me sleep at times is to have a nice, tall, cold, glass of chocolate milk with Hershey's syrup. I'll get up around 3 or 4 and have a glass, drink it slowly, and then go back to bed. Don't know why, but I find it relaxing.
  9. I'd go back to work in a heartbeat if I was physically able, I decided to retire when I realized I couldn't preform to my own standards, or keep up with my teams; that really sent me into a depression. I've been in a descending vortex ever since. My suggestion, keep working,,, unless you hit the lottery bug time.
  10. Have you discussed this with your doc? Taking pain meds every five hours for a week and then cutting back to one at bed time may have given your worn out body a shock that may take some time to recover from; also sleeping 16 hours a day may have your body clock out of wack and will also need time to recover. I have always been told to tapper off of certain meds before stopping them. Ask you Doc, he knows your situation best. Welcome to retirement. or your version of it. I retired in 2006 from a very active job and found myself going through this, in fact I'm still going through it, I don't sleep well at all unless I've been physically active during the day. What the H.... , as I type this there's an add at the bottom of the forum screen for Insomulex for Insomnia symptom relief !!! What the H... ? Anyway, I can't fall asleep until 3, 4, 5 AM, but then I sleep until 11 because I don't have any reason to get up. Retirement - HA - this sucks big time.....
  11. May I ask what level (grade) of engineering class your taking, your questions are a little vague to be of meaningful use for an accurate survey. It will be intriguing to see how you assimilate the responses. Good luck.
  12. Yes, you have to come next year! Check out the thread " VA Meet & Greet 2013 " and vote for where it's going to be.
  13. Hi Jeff, was that Lovenox you were injecting into your leg?
  14. www.whatonearthcatalog.com is more my speed.....
  15. I was a Board Member & Landscaping Chairman of ours. I questioned the community builder on why items were in the Covenants and other documents, his reply was "we used a general Boiler-Plate document package as a starter, and now it's up to the members to tailor it to their needs" But that requires legal actions, expense, and worst of all, a consensus of the members - we can't even get a Forum at most of the meetings.
  16. "Man, I couldn't buy a bite out there today"
  17. There is Leesylvania State Park at 2001 Daniel K Ludwig Dr, Woodbridge, VA 22191. It has two very wide ramps that will launch four boats abreast at one time, but is lacking on pier/dock access. So, if you launch in the middle of the ramp you'll need a driver in the boat to bring it to the dock. Leesylvania (that must be some kind of Southerner made up name) has breakwaters to help protect the boats from wind, wave, and current action. I've had some luck working the rip-wrap of the breakwaters for bass and striper's. I've been told the road into the park is a bit problematic if you have a big rig. QUOTE: "OVERNIGHT FACILITIES: A small, tents-only primitive campground is available only for groups. Reservations are required and must be made through the park's office." "CABINS/CAMPING: Leesylvania State Park allows group camping; call the park office for details and to make reservations. There are no cabins at Leesylvania." "Beautiful park & very clean. The scenery is amazing. There are picnic areas and swings for the kids. There is a fee to enter $4.00 weekdays and $5.00 weekends." UNQUOTE: I'll go for any of the waters you listed, pick a day and let's get a line wet.
  18. I want to see how they ship the defusable bomb alarm clock.
  19. OK, it took me a while to decide which of my many, many, many dumb stunts would fit this thread and my winner is - - - the time when I was a kid (around 6th or 7th grade) when the girl next door and I decided it would be fun to put 22's on the sidewalk and hit the back end of them with a hammer; we would get a loud bang and sometimes the bullet would go whirling off into the distance. She got a cut on her ankle from one of the rounds.
  20. OK, no men in black suits and black cars showing up to your door, that's too costly, we'll just send one of our toy planes one night
  21. Oh, here we go, I said I'd have to show you VA guys what to do "As of December 1, 2009, the fees for the license are as follows: (a) Resident $10 ( Nonresident - 14-Day $6.50 $6.50 - 1 Year $13.00 $13.00" http://ddoe.dc.gov/service/get-fishing-license BTW, My wife said we live below the Mason/Dixon Line so that makes us Southerners, but I reminded her it's all relative to location, location, location.
  22. Smallwood State Park (Sweden Point Marina) is $10.00 with 6 ramps and ample parking. I believe I was told it's free if your an overnight guest, I'll double check this. There is a free ramp further up the Mattawoman Creek which is about 15-20 min from the park but it's only one ramp and parking is limited; but it's a great place to launch from if your interested in the upper creek, and have a small boat or a yak. The Marshall Hall Boat Ramp is a good half hour from the park and has two free ramps with ample free parking; and it's closer to DC if that is a goal. This ramp is open on the main river and subject to winds and river currents.
