Ever Done This....?
Agreed, it's the best way to learn the finer points of using a bait. Even though I've been fishing for decades from time to time I'll pick a "bait for a day" and leave everything else in the lockers. If I get skunked, that's fishing, I don't care; the point of the activity is to learn the bait and where best to use them, do that and the fish will come. If you ever get the opportunity, try casting in a large community swimming pool where you can see the baits action and learn to work the bait different ways. Talk to the pools manager and ask for an hour or so before the pool opens in the morning. One such time I got into the pool to watch as my fishing partner did the casting....... This was long before TV cameras went under water in Bass fishing.

I don't have any warning points either, I feel like I'm not doing my part to push the envelope around here; maybe I'm just slipping in my old age, it may be time to retire from here too.... Naw, I can't let Long Mike and Road Warrior off that easy...... I'll have to work on my attitude and consult with SloneZP.... Lets see, where did I put that bottle of JD????

Filed Under The No Good Deed Goes Unpunished Department.
I have also gone through this; my wife, bless her hart, is a soft touch; but I let technology work for me - my phones are listed on the National Do Not Call Registery (https://donotcall.gov/register/Reg.aspx), and if some do call I give them a standard response of "Please take my information off your list" and then I program my phone to block further calls. What I haven't been able to stop is the political Daemon Dialers that use multiple phone numbers to make their calls. I consider Political calls as downright harassment. I haven't figured out how to stop all the unwanted mail asking for money; I do however enjoy all the freebies some send to try to make me feel guilty - FAIL.

Boat Storage And Mice
X2 on the moth balls; I guessing here but you could try sprinkling then around the boat on the ground, or, put some in old socks tied shut and place them in key areas that show mouse activity. If that doesn't work visit the mouse department in your local hardware store for ideas.

Hello From Maryland
Welcome to the Forum. As BrianinMD said "take a look at the Northeast section. There is a "Maryland's Who's Who" thread with a bunch of information and a few fellow bass fisherman in your area." The members on this thread can provide info on MD ponds, lakes, river and streams. If your looking for info on the middle Potomac (Rte 301 bridge to Chain bridge) send me a PM and I'll try to help you out.

Locations For The 2013 Meet And Greet
No way, we want to give co-anglers (non-boaters) the opportunity to fish from a boat. We would like to have as many co-anglers as we have boaters, we just don't want to be in a position where we have more co-anglers than we have room on the boats and have to leave someone on the bank for a while. During the 2012 M&G I fished with two co-anglers (my boat holds 3), and we had a ball. I think I can speak for the rest when I say no one would be left out even if we had to fish in four hour shifts. Also, any style of boat is welcome. Also, it's not just for campers, you can come for the day, share a cabin with others, or find a local motel. Some of us bring food of some type, but it's not required, just chip in a donation ($5.00) for the burgers or whatever. The main purpose of the event is to meet fellow BR members and enjoy some camaraderie, food, and fishing. Try it, you'll enjoy your self, and you'll make some new friends; but beware, some of us are crazy Not me of course, but the others???????

X2, This can't be real, the military I know would never advertise like that, or leave something like this unguarded. Look at how the tubes are poorly supported, and the loads are strapped down, this doesn't look right IMHO.- Mold
X2, I get my boats bow as high as I can with the tong jack and then stabilize the trailer with using a automotive jack stand; then I pull the drain plug. If the boat is wet, or the weather is damp, I run a small fan under the boat cover to circulate the air; I also prop all locker lids open with blocks of 2X4. So far, using this protocol, I have not had any further problems with mold. I believe I will try the concrobium as suggested above, the BTS isn't available in my area. From http://www.concrobium.com/all-about-mold/ Typically mold needs three conditions to grow: Moisture from humidity, leaks or flooding Nutrients: organic materials that can act as a food source Optimal temperature, generally between 64-82 degrees.- How Do I Send A Pm To John Francho?
- Locations For The 2013 Meet And Greet
Just as an FYI, for Smallwood State Park MD, the Waldorf and LaPlata MD areas have many motels that regularly see anglers fishing Potomac tournaments. On the VA side, look to the Rte 1 corridor area for lodging.- Need Prayers | Update

As I can fish the Potomac anytime, I've had a change of mind and would like to change my vote to Smith Mountain Lake; I'd like to try new water.- Locations For The 2013 Meet And Greet

How is Laura doing? I think of her, and say a prayer, each time I use my boat and see the ribbon.- Va. Meet And Greet 2013 !!!!

I don't have a problem with mold in my lockers, but it's on the under-side of my boat cover. Can you tell where moisture is entering your lockers, are your lids tight, or do you have any openings between you lockers and other parts of your boat? My rod locker rod tubes were open in the bow area under the switch plate. Do you have drain holes in your lockers? If so, moisture may be entering from your bilge. Also, do you cover your boat with a properly fitted boat cover, or is it garage kept? My boat lives in my driveway so when the weather is damp I'll run a small fan under the boat cover to circulate the air, it appears to be keeping my mold problem at bay, but I can't get rid of the mold stains no matter what cleaner I try. IMHO, I don't think moisture absorbing containers in each locker is a workable solution. Depending on your storage situation, you could try propping your lids open with small blocks of 2X4X4 to let air circulate in the lockers.- Jokes - Let's Have Some Fun
- Frankenstorm Sandy
IMHO, I don't think anyone is saying the storm wasn't bad, it was - in some areas; NY & NJ got hit hard and I grieve for those that lost love-ones and property. We here where I live missed a bullet as Sandy was kind to us; out of 280 homes - only one had some siding pulled off, and one lost a Bradford Pare tree in their front yard (no big loss there). It's just the media hype in reporting the facts. The Jet stream notwithstanding, in truth it was a Cat. 1 storm, but the media played it up to sound like a Cat. 5 in our area. Now they're doing a Flood Watch Center here because, as one would expect after a storm, the runoff will drain down the river. It's just the trend in news reporting by media company's seeking ratings, which translates into sponsorship, which translates into money; they have to out-do each other to get their piece of the pie.- Frankenstorm Sandy
AFAIK, BFE, etc. - - Doesn't anyone speak english anymore? Between Facebook, this forum, and others, I keep Bing open to search on acronyms. MLS- Frankenstorm Sandy
IMHO, and from my perspective, that's all it's been - a Cat. 1 storm. I'll head out in the AM to see if I can play with my chainsaw, but I doubt I'll see any action. Sandy has been kind to us here in Waldorf. But we won't see flood surge on the Potomac until Thursday, so I'll stay off the water until Saturday to give the debris time to flush down river. It's sad to hear 13 lost their lives to Sandy, my heart goes out to their friends & family. 10/30/12, 02:00L, and all's quiet now, we haven't lost power yet.- 2012 Ky Ballot, Hunting And Fishing Amendment
IMHO, I like this, WOW- Frankenstorm Sandy
I have to ask, what adjectives would the media use if Sandy were a Cat. 5 Hurricane? From CNN.com "As for whether Sandy is a "Superstorm," perhaps we should refrain from such a designation until after the event." "Sandy will take its place in history, but we will not know what that place is until many days have passed." http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_c2 - ..
