Carolina Keeper Are Swivel
I prefer the keeper as it makes for easy adjustment and re rigging. I have had an occasional issue with it slipping but very infrequently. I'll have to try NBR's suggestion of 2 keepers.

All Purpose Spinning Setup
Your choice sounds like it will work very well for you. Just a suggestion that when you get to BPS play with some of the other brands in your price range. You may surprise yourself with something you think feels much better. I was in the market earlier this year for a med 6' 6" spinning rod, picked up one of the BPS carbon lites and really liked it. Had not previously considered it. Surpised myself and am very happy with the rod. Moral to the story....feel all the options at the store and have fun deciding.

Nicknames
A few years back when fishing with a buddy I was using a tube and started catching them pretty good. We got to joking around and I told him I was using a new invention of mine. From that point forward we now refer to tubes as "my invention".

How Have You Done This Year Thus Far?
It's been good for me. Have caught fish consistently except maybe the roadtrip where the conditions were less than favorable. New baits I've tried have been a Jika Rig which worked well and new for me is a swim jig which has been good. Best fish so far is about four pounds. Got to fish a new lake in a club tournament last weekend (Nickajack, lake just above Guntersville on the TN River), beautiful scenery and caught a 9.5 lb limit, only good enough for 3rd place (missed second place by an ounce) but always nice to get a limit....headed to Old Hickory next for old familiar surroundings. Kentucky Lake in the early fall.......looking forward to a fun year!!
