  1. I always fish as a co angler. Our club rotates partners but I've never had a problem. I always talk to the person I'm fishing with for that tournament and discuss a game plan. Hopefully we get to pre fish one day before the tournament. I just like to know if we'll be fishing fast, slow or both so I can bring the appropriate gear. I will try to throw something different (ie...if he throws a jig I may try a worm). When one of us starts getting bit we can both start using the same thing. Our club also divides the standings between boaters and non boaters so we are not directly competing with each other. As a side note, I always enjoy the few times I beat the boater I am fishing with.....makes for some fun smack talk!!
  2. AIN'T THAT THE TRUTH!!!! Going to be a great vacation!!
  3. My wife just sets out the trimmer by the sink.......I guess she believes in subtle hints.
  4. Starting with Manning and his free agency, now Tebow to the Jets and the Saints Bounty scandal sure has put the NCAA tournament in the back seat. I understand the NFL is the biggest sports draw but they come off as really arrogant to me. I just kind of hate that such a great sporting event gets trumped by the off season drama of the no fun league. Don't get me wrong, I have Titan's season tickets and love the game, BUT I don't like their arrogance and their disregard for fans just because they can.
  5. Well said, I agree and hope he does well. But it's a business and Big John wanted a traditional QB and he got the best. He better hope the Doc's are right and Peyton gives them a few good (great) years. At least Tim will still make a boatload of money. On a funny side note, when Manning and Elway stand side by side there are a couple of huge old horseheads there....those fellas have some big old noggins!
  6. I have a small lake behind my house similar to what you describe and have had success with a mojo rig (described below). It sort of combines the advantages of both the T and C rigs. I like to think of it as a finesse c rig. Use a Zoom UltraVibe Speed worm. I rig it with a cylinder weight about 18 inches from the hook (3/0 Wide Gap). The weight is 1/8 oz and pegged with a rubber nail. Slow reeling is primary technique.
  7. I believe this is key
  8. Wiggle Wart is a good one for smallies. I also have alot of luck with the #5 shad raps in crawfish color.
  9. I think it would be wise to get a cranking rod. If funds are limited a BPS Crankin Stick is a fine crankin rod at a reasonable price. Depending on the type of cranking you will be doing they have different models to meet your needs. Despite some of the high end equipment I have I caught my personal best with a crankin stick.
  10. My Yanks should be strong....pitching staff improved and have to send Mo off into retirement with #28!!!
  11. Heck No.....she only knows of one trip.....all purchases in cash and nicely stowed away with the rest of my stuff and now undetectable....
  12. I'm keeping it secret!! Suffice it to say I live near a BPS and made several trips...
  13. Fluke (carolina rig) , Lizard (carolina or t rig), Craw (jig trailer, t rig or shakey head), Worm (finesse on shakey head or bigger worm on t rig or carolina rig)
  14. Can't go wrong with a Pro Qualifier. Citica is also a great choice if you get one under 100. I have both and they both work very well for me.
  15. I am using Seagur Red Label. Works very well for me and is relatively reasonable as far as flourocarbons go. I use mostly 12 lb except 10 lb on crankbaits and 15 lb for my caroilina rig.
  16. Already use nothing but GMAN jigs, rage or paca trailers and JJ's........it's all the fisherman's fault!!....no excuses!!....LOL
  17. Outside of figuring out patterns I still am trying to figure out fishing a jig. I use them and have caught several nice fish with them but not with any consistency or confidence. I'm probably over complicating it. It's frustrating to see my fishing partner do so well with them and I'm still struggling. I guess I need to go out several times with nothing but jigs and get past it.
  18. I use the ultra vibe
  19. One of the guys in our club turned me on to fishing these on a Mojo Rig last year. Pretty much a finesse carolina rig. Same principal as your partner's split shot rig swimming it around grass. I really got into it with alot of success last summer fishing it about anywhere. It has been very versatile for me. I use white, green pumpkin or watermelon red with equal success. For the most part I retrieve it slow and steady.
  20. When he slams me in the mouth on his back cast with a 1/2 oz Jig and crosses my eyes as he sets the hook. It was an accident but the trip to the ER was no fun. Funny now but not so much at the time.
  21. Broccoli, unreturned phone calls, politics, slow elevators, slow service at "FAST FOOD" places, computer problems and getting sick
  22. I mostly use finesse jigs with paca chunks
  23. Man, that should be plenty. I was just thinking of bringing a couple quarts. Between you and me that ought to be enough to pass around and give everyone a taste of some different brews.
  24. Mine was: Best - Don't over think it! Worst - Don't worry about the hook! (given while being taught how to pitch, right before I buried the hook in my hand)
