Show off your Stuff
Definitely would recommend it. Swapping the handle out was confusing. I'm use to twisting right to loosen a handle but this one twists left to loosen and actually screws down into the drive shaft....not around threads. Kinda cool. It is buttery smooth and pitches a jig effortlessly. I can't get over how small the reel is and comfortable to palm it turned out to be. I'm not even sure the stock handle was 80mm. Might even be 75mm. It feels so tiny. The knobs that came on it were nice though. The folks saynig the CC knob being too difficult to twist may have over blown it a bit. It does come set correctly from the factory but isn't terribly difficult to adjust. I was able to do it with 2 fingers. Put it on your short list. Daiwa definitely hit a home run /w this one.

Show off your Stuff
UPS finally showed up. Box of goodies with this gem in the middle. This may be the most cmfortable reel to palm. Definitely feels smaller than a TDz . Swapped out the stock handle to an OG zillion type r . Stocks knobs are nice but handle is way too small.

St. Croix LE vs. LXtreme and Avid (upgrades 2017)
St. Croix upgrade news seems to come out sooner to icast than others. If I had to guess, I would guess the LTB would be the next to be upgraded. The Xtreme would make sense to get an upgrade but with the LTB being so "out dated" I think it would be on their short list of upgrades this year.

Dobyns Champion Applications
I use both the 733 and 734 for what you listed. Chatterbaits and spinnerbaits on the 733 and spooks, buzzbaits, whopper ploppers, toads on the 734. If I had to chose one it would be the 4 power. I just like the little slower action on the 3 powers for spinners/bladed jigs but I've thrown them on the 4 powers w/o issue. The 704 is my next rod and I would recommend that for how you described you want to use it. I've never tried a 68x Dobyns but others here like them.

Dobyns fury rods info
I don't know if you have actually ever used this rod or are just telling people that based on blind spec readings but the dobyns 735 in the fury, sierra, savvy, or champ will absolutely not handle punching baits up to the 1 1/2 oz range. You are overloading that rod at 1oz + plastic when punching. I've used the 735 for years. I just put a 1 1/4oz oz tungsten weight by itself on the rod and the rod was already over loaded /w just the weight. Imagine adding 1/4oz weight PLUS hook and bait. That rod spec is TOTAL weight. Most punch baits are going to be in the 1/4o-3/8oz range. Add just a 1oz tungsten weight + flipping hook you are already either at the max or over the weigh listings. Explain to the OP how a 1 1/2oz tungsten weight + the bait of his choosing is going to work and not put an inordinate amount of unnecessary stress on his new rod. The OP is clearly unaware of these little things. Don't lead him incorrectly. If you want a rod to punch 1oz+ weights and frog in slop and are set on the Fury line, get the 765. I actually do own the 765 as well and it will punch 1 1/2oz no problem. 1oz + plastic is its sweet spot. If you want to move up, get the Champ 736.

Alright guys, next week will be a crazy one. Mike's meatballs with his loss tonight is officially out of the playoff hunt as they best her can finish is 5-8. Norcal is in the same situation as he can only finish 5-8. Smallies-You have locked up a first round bye. After this week- Jrob will be 7-6 and his fate is in his own hands for a first round bye. Iabass, Byeweek, Not2, and my wife will all be 6-6 going into week 13. If Jrob loses, then one of us have a crack at the first found bye. Congrats to all that made it! Anybody got any sweats next week? In the playoffs in 4 of 7 leagues, need a win next week to get in a 5th and zero chance in the other 2. It's been a pretty odd year.

New Daiwa reels to be released
Hard to say. The picture of the guy holding the rod/reel in one hand and the LC crank in the other looks like the old frame. The close up pics on the japan forum /w the Fuego/Steez looks like the CT. Wouldn't be the first time we've been duped by a Daiwa frame size in pics on TT.

New Daiwa reels to be released
really surprised /w the "xtra tough" tag line that a non SV or deeper SV CT zillion wouldn't be part of the plan. If they are making an SV CT tatula, that can't be too far off price wise from the zillion sv tw..or at least be far enough away in price to justify the zillion sv tw. An SV Tatula CT for...199? might be too good to be true. I can't tell if the new Tatula SV is based off the old or new CT frame. Hopefully the CT frame. Steez SV TW will be here Monday

You don't need to call in for the exclusions. Your order confirmation will show it. I had a lot of stuff on the exclusion list including a reel. All were applied at confirmation. Can't say for megabass though.

Useable Bass Boat for 5000? Can it be done?
The boat issues I mentioned to look for would, for me, be a deal breaker. Especially any transom cracks. As far as the motor, pay the 1-200$ for a certified mechanic to look at it. that will pay for itself in the long run and will help in negotiating if anything minor were wrong. Compression , leak down, Lower unit oil check for water/large shavings are big but any half brain mechanic will know to do that. Just take it to somebody that has a good rep and if it checks out, take it out for a spin. Listen for anything odd and address it, check if the livewells are working, pumps, etc. If everything's good after that, go for it if you like it. Bassboat seats aren't cheap, either. If you have to replace one, you're going to most likely replace them all at once. It will run 300-500$ for a set of seats. That's something you can negotiate on. Carpet is something I wasn't considered about as long as the deck/entire boat has ZERO soft spots. (if it does, just pass on it. you have no idea how long water or that whole has been there/in the boat) Carpeting a boat is cheap and it will make a boat look fantastic when it's done. Look for small stuff like broken latch's (SS ones can run 30$ each), gauges that aren't working/accurate. All that little stuff will add up. You're entering prime buying season. You're bound to find a deal if you're patient. The biggest thing your going to sacrifice with older glass boats is storage/lack of use on empty space. There's usually plenty of tackle storage for tackle but rod lockers were usually only 7'.Lots of the 18' now have 7'5-8' lockers. Not a huge deal if you have short rods or are okay laying them all on the deck .

Useable Bass Boat for 5000? Can it be done?
You're really looking for a boat that has no stress cracks on the transom, hull or keel. has to have zero leaks and a trailer in good condition. Carpet can be redone relatively cheap for under 400$. Lots of the price tag will be in the motor and it is almost imperative you get a mechanic to check it out completely if you aren't familiar /w older 2 strokes.

Useable Bass Boat for 5000? Can it be done?
I don't have it anymore. Upgraded to a 2016 Nitro. Yes, it is a glass boat. Ride on that hull was great. Storage was okay.

Useable Bass Boat for 5000? Can it be done?
Yeah you can find some good deals out there. I used to have 1991 Ranger 482 /w a 1991 Johnson 175 FastStrike. Awesome boat and motor. Got it for 5500. Zero problems with it. Sold it to upgrade to new. New owner is still running it strong. Finding a really solid glass boat for 5k is going to be ridiculously hard. I got pretty lucky. Your options will be a lot better if you have 10k. I would personally just keep saving if I were you. You're going to have to do some work on any bass boat that's 5k anyway.
