Im assuming when you say circles you mean ring terminals. Simply put the correct ring terminal on the correct lead post and lock them down with a stainless steel locking nut Do not use a wing nut. I believe the everstarts come with a locking nut. You can use that. Get them locked down tightly. I would swap the clips out for ring terminals, too. Do this: unscrew the nut that is thread on the pos and negative post. put the ring terminals on the correct lead. put the locking nut back on the post with the ring termianls below it. Tighten the nut down and you're good to go.

Look at fluorocarbob "leader material". Its deisned slecifically for leader use and is more abrasion resistant.

Tuning a reel consists or polishing internals/friction points of a reel. adding spools/bearings/cosmetic dress up parts are simply just upgrades. hedgehog studios has really nice parts for pretty much everything. the alde stock spool is more than capable of bombing a 1/4 oz crank. Once you get down below that weight, the rod becomes almost ad important (if not more) to cast/load these baits. welcome to the world of BFS. Enjoy having a lighter wallet.

Making a 2 1/2 hour trip when buying a used boat is part of the game. You can't know for sure unless you personally go down there. You could have backed into a super deal. Make sure he has the title in hand prior to leaving. If he can't get it for some strange reason I would pass. If he has the title and there's no lien against it, I would go check it out. I would find a local Merc mechanic that will check the engine over for you if you aren't familar /w it. The XR6 is a great motor but if it's just say unused a lot, the fuel lines, filters, plugs etc probably haven't been changed/replaced and that will cause you issues.

As far as to keep gas tank full or empty, it's up to you. You'll hear both sides, pros/cons and horror stories of both. Personally, I run the tank empty on my last trip on the water prior to winterizing, put in a full tank of ethanol free gas mixed /w seafoam, startron, and stabil. I'll take the boat home and run the new gas/additives through the motor for 30 minutes on the hose to make sure everything gets into the lines/motor. Pull the carb covers off and spray fogging oil into the carbs until it gets close to choking. Turn the boat off. Pull spark plugs and put some fogging oil into the plug holes on each side of the block. Turn the prop by hand if you want or give the key a quick turn to get the oil spread. Put the plugs back in. Drain the lower unitl oil into a pan and check for any water/large shavings. If clean, refill lower unit /w correct oil. If you find water/large shavings, find a mechanic. Take batteries out of boat and put them inside on a trickle charger 1-2 times a month. Cover boat and go. If you are storing it outside make sure you keep your motor trimmed down so snow doesn't sit in the LU, get in the gear gase, and freeze. Wouldn't hurt to wrap it, either. Mine gets stored inside so i remove the prop, too. This is what I do. Boat starts up first turn of the key every spring. Oh, if you have a water PSI gauge, it wouldn't hurt to remove the hose off the back of the gauge to make sure water doesn't freeze in there.
