  1. DSG....really big sales doing on right now. Go.
  2. It will move around quite freely w/o the main gear in there. It shouldn't move too much with the main gear seated correctly and the housing in place but it could have a hair of up and down play due to the fact the side plate is off. The pinion housing should be obviously seated on both posts. The housing itself has a 45 degree angle cut on each side. Make sure that seats flush or very close to flush. Also make sure that the AR ratchet gear is seated snug on the drive shaft and not moving freely above it. (it's the thin metal disk /w square teeth below the main gear). Without having a hand on the reel it really sounds like something inside the handle side plate isn't seated correctly causing the pinion to ride higher than it should and making that awful noise . Make sure your pawl is seated in the level-wind gear correctly as well.
  3. If I were to use a standalone product it would probably be JJ's. However, I'm a big fan of megastrike and have had quite of bit of seemingly added success using it. I don't use spike-it for scent. I use the spike-it markers to color craw/beaver/whatever tips because a tube of megastrike and a orange/yellow spike it marker fits in my pocket on the bow of my boat and I don't have to unlock a nuclear chamber and worry about waves spilling JJ's.
  4. Is it brand new or new to you? Remove the line guide cap and the pawl. Make sure it's seated correctly and you have lube on the levelwind. make sure the pinion gear is seated down and that the pinion housing bracket is on the correct way. When the side plate is off, the pinion will have a little play. the pinion bearing under the clutch could be bad as well. Its a really cheap fix to replace. You can pull it out to clean and flush anyway if you haven't. to me it sounds like the pinion isnt seated correctly. hopefully DVT will come along. Noises can be difficult to diagnose without having hands on.
  5. The 1016 is a significantly deeper spool than the smaller versions (50, 70) of the Curado/Chronarch in terms of how much line it holds. The 1016 is also a much more controlled spool due to it's breaking. The 50 size shimanos have a strong following due to their much smaller profile than their counterpart (200+ series) and capability of throwing lighter baits better than a 200 but still very capable of throwing upper end weights well. I felt the 50 size reels responded better to tuning as well. In the past, these were only offered in a single 6:4 gear ratio and you had to drop core gears into them to get the higher IPT. The excitement surrounding these is that the new curado is finally being offered again in the very popular smaller frame size that we haven't seen since the chronarch 50(hence the 70), X ship on a smaller reel, and 2 different gear ratios; with the higher end being something like 8:1 or 8:3. It also has Shimanos new(?) hagane stamp. I haven't read enough about it to give a through explanation of what Hagane is aside from that it has to do /w gearing.
  6. This. Many companies glass rods fish very differently from each other. It's one of those things you just need to fish to decide if you like them or not. Some like them and some don't.
  7. Anybody use this yet? I'm not concerned about the line color alternating. More concerned if the line transmites vibrations close to shooter and how it compares to similiar priced lines. 10$ cheaper than shooter and you get almost 40 more yards. It isn't charted out on Sunline's site either.I cannot find anything on this line....
  8. BAHH HAHAHA good kneel down there Kirk!
  9. wooooooooooooow. Ertz was clearly down by contact....awful, awful call there.
  10. Reed looks to be this weeks David Johnson for Philly.
  11. Sammy B coming out looking like a stud. Guess we know what WSH defense showed up tonight.
  12. Right. Again, I know what your saying but the distance achieve in surf with levelwind vs non-levelwind is far greater than any bass fishing situation. Adam's argument about the marketing ploy of the TWS, while harsh, is more or less correct. Their advertisment of 5% increase of casting distance sounds like a lot to some because if you ever notice the threads about " how far can you cast", lots of people think they on averag are casing 75-100 yards when they have no idea how far that really is. 5% is actually really just a flick of the wrist..hence..marketing ploy.

  14. I get what you're saying but I don't really think you're making an apples to apples comparison...
  15. Hard to beat Bluegill flash, rainbow shad, and sungill.
  16. Depends what "cheap" means to you. My wife had a kindle fire for a couple years and had no issues. She still uses it for books. I got her an iPad Air2 and its heads and shoulders a better device and gets used for everything aside from book reading. If you can swing it, if recommend the the ipad mini or a previous gen ipad.
  17. The beat shad was probably one of the worst swimbaits ive ever used. The smaller ripple shada are good baits so i would assume the larger ribbed shads are just as good by themselves. Hard to beat a keitech for fishing slow though. Nothing really compares.
  18. Rooting really hard for the Eagles on Saturday. Cannot stand Jay Gruden.
  19. I feel like this could turn into something like: Hour 2-Little queezy guys Hour 3-So I'm bleeding out of every orifice, Any advice? Hour 55- Anybody heard from Josh in the past 52 hours?
  20. Oh, the handle knob. Exactly what the above poster said to do. Just add necessay shims from the bottom and it will work as desired.
  21. You might be a redneck if.....
  22. The cast control knob? elaborate on the play. Is it an in and out play or is it loose on the threads?
  23. Anywhere in central Minnesota. Drop me off /w my boat and I'll inevitably find unpressured, amazing fishing. La Crosse WI on the Mississippi. Lock up or down a pool. Just flat out awesome fishing.
  24. Despite the relentless peer pressure to deliver the photographs you undoubtedly are withholding of the mythical creatures you and Rake are keeping locked up for your own selfish entertainment, you still are trying to distract us with pictures of you and your new bride!
