Gander Mountain Buckets Of Lures
X2 I believe another thread around here ID'd Big Bite as the maker for Gander from a person that worked for Gander. Big Bite make good cheap baites, love their trick sticks.

Spinning Rod And Reel Advice
I hear great things about the rods theholigan mentioned but I will suggest a BPS Carbonlite for 100 bucks it is dang near the lightest and sensative rod. It also has a good feel in your hand. My MH/F is great for Texas rigs, weightless plastics, split shot rigs. Occasionally throw a jerk bait or lipless with it. Far as reels go a pflueger is hard to beat. For 100 buck you can get a supreme, for 80 bucks a purist is pretty sweet also. I have three pfluegers ranging from $50 to $90 and there is nothing in that range that can match.

One Rod: Braid Or Mono?
I agree with most of what you said. Only reason couple of reasons I can think that I would go to braid would be better strength to diameter so a smaller reel size can be maintained and that it casts farther(except in wind) which I have yet to see in my limited experiments. I would never use anything other than mono for topwater and jerkbaits though.

Black Square Bills
There was another thread that discussed jerk baits, given the choice of colors many of the seasoned anglers said black and white. Also if you look throw bandits color selection they have some very interesting colors, like the bone, kaki and bubble gum pink. There are also a few colors that aren't listed on their site but you can order, like the purple tiger they sell at BPS only.

Early To Mid Summer Bass Fishing
X2 on what Slone said. I use blue/orange chrome on sunny days, black/silver on overcast. Or match the hatch, any bluegill/Talapia/pumpkin seed color works here. But there are no shad in the retention ponds and shad color works too. I also use a rainbow trout jerk bait. So like slone said it is more like where you cast and how you retrieve.......Swim jig is a good one I didn't think of.

Early To Mid Summer Bass Fishing
You can get them in just about any color. The old standby is blue/chrome/orange Black/silver....check out the Xcalibur XR50 lipless. They have a real gill series that is pretty sweet. I you look in the reports I recently posted a catch I made with a lipless and this pond the hydrilla is like trees, Texas rigs get hung. They also suspend like you talk about there too.

Early To Mid Summer Bass Fishing
Not true, lipless work well in grass, fish them all the time here in FL. Rip them free when they snag, sometimes that is when you will get the strike.

Early To Mid Summer Bass Fishing
I would try lipless crank, fluke, soft boot tail swim bait like a Big EZ or Swimming Fluke and a keel weighted hook. I also do the senko or rattlsnake weightless and let is sink a little and gently reel is back.

Got an early start today finally. Started with a albino swim'n Fluke with a keel weighted hook. 2 or 3rd cast I had one on, jumped it was nice, jumped again it was gone Missed another on a baby bass fluke but didn't get to see it and then finally rigged a rattlesnake with a 1/16 bullet. Pulled in this guy. I will call him 17.5" I stepped on the tape to take the pic so it is starting in between 1 and 2" mark. The one I lost was bigger, by a pound or two, consider yourselfs lucky guys.

Shakey Head Craws
I throw a zoom ultra vibe speed craw on a shakey head. Works well, so well it is one of my 7 yr olds favorite techniques. The head keeps it up in good posture. You can shake, hop, drag or steady reel. Reel quick then kill and pause, then repeat is a good retrieve also. I use strike kings shakey heads

The Pennants Are Flying, As Is The Trash, And Apparently There Is A Team In Houston
Kruk is great! LOL that is what was so great about that team, they were so real working man blue collar. We all could relate to them. He and williams aren't bad to listen to, like McCarver would someone please get him a muzzle or a personality, on their respective color/commenting gigs. Nah I didn't forget them. I was just remembering the lesser names. Yeah Dykstra did go off the deep end, me and a friend follow his escapades. Sad.

Well some carp in a pond I find is the best, if there is enough to keep the weeds from taking over, but still offers some cover. It just depends how the pond was stocked. The pond I was at today has some freaking tree sized weeds and the fish are deep and the Texas rigged just gets hung up. Once it cools the will die down a little. The ponds with too many carp don't have enough cover and the bass tend to wonder. Which you can work all kinds of lures but pin pointing location is a daily thing. This is just my observations from fishing around here. Each type of pond you use different lures and stuff so keeps me on my toes and I don't get stuck on one technique. You know what I am saying.
