How Does Bass Taste?
I work in a Fine Dining restaurant in Puerto Rico in a beach resort. We have many kinds of locally caught fish. Its usually caught in the morning and we sell it at night on dinner. We also have fresh spiny Caribbean Lobster. Ive tried: Hog fish yellow snapper yellowtail snapper porgy red snapper black snapper queen snapper grouper cod clog fish sting ray shark marlin redbanded sea bream parrot fish Mahi mahi I have tried a couple more that i dont know the name of. In My personal opinion the best 3 by a LONG SHOT are: Queen snapper as the best ive had. the texture and the flavor are out of this world. It doesnt need anything to be amazing not even salt. Obviously that when you keep adding you will end with the best fish you can eat. Hog fish a very close second. Theres no amount of breading that will spoil this fish(they dont use bredding at the rest anyways). Its great fried but its amazing when oven cooked with a local herb thats kind of a mint smell, white wine, herbs and a little bit of garlic. Cod filet are a third. the Cod filet they have cooked there at work were awesome. Add a curry sauce and you got me overdosing on pleasure. fresh water ive had bass, tilapia, catfish and shellcrackers.

Whats Your Favorite Brands?
I dont know if this has been done recently but here goes: For plastics I Have a LOT of Yum. crankbaits Ive loved Rapala forever. I can find them at the local kmart and my uncle pretty much implanted in my head that rapala was the crank to use. spinnerbaits(my fav lure type) I love KVD(strike king) spinnerbaits. I love abu garcias rods and reels even though i only have one rod and I love daiwa reels even when I cant pay for the high end reels. So guys what are your favorite brands?

Terminator Spinnerbaits Review With Pics.
plumworm - go into BPS(they have some exclusive rights towards kvd) and buy one of each of the main KVD spinnerbaits. I had 3 of them(lost 1). I had the scorcher in willows, i had the tandem willow in bleeding shad(lost this one) and I had the double willows in the 3/4 ounce. The swivels are top of the line, the hooks feel like surgical tools(they claim these are surgically sharpened and I believe them) and the skirts and blades are VERY GOOD quality. these are top of the line. Try them and if you still find that the Terminators are better let me know of your favorite so I can try it again. Thanks guys for the responses. Im looking into the war eagles right as we speak

Terminator Spinnerbaits Review With Pics.
Ok so Ive invested some time in this thing and Ive taken another spinnerbait apart just to make this one work. (the idea when i bought them was to have plenty more not make 1 out of two but **** happens and I did what I had to do. I took a Hart night spinnerbait apart, took the swivel from it and the reds from its skirt. mounted on the other spinnerbait frame and added a lumaflex skirt from the bunch I bought a month or so ago. now I need the hook stopper and the trailer hook for it to be complete. A LOT of time and parts involved into making it close to equal quality to a kvd. If any of you guys know of equal or better quality than KVDs let me know cause I need to buy a bunch more spinnerbaits. We'll see how the bass like it, maybe later today or tomorrow.

Terminator Spinnerbaits Review With Pics.
Hi. This will be my first product review. Hopefully It can help other people in making decisions and figuring out what exactly they will be getting. Spinnerbaits are divided into multiple parts. Here I will talk about the parts that matter the most to me. I paid around $7 each with shipping included. 1. Blade- in my opinion this is the most important part and this is what will lure a fish into checking the bait out and even biting on it. 2. swivel - helps or hinders the rotations of the blade. 3. skirt - seals the deal in my opinion and makes the fish bite into it instead of the blade. 4. Hook- self explanatory. 5. body, wire and extras. I bought: Terminator Special-T Titanium Series Spinnerbait 1/4oz. Chartreuse Shad Terminator Custom Tungsten Single Oklahoma Spinnerbait 7/16oz Hot Tip Chartreuse I will review both as a package, as a judgement towards the Terminator Spinnerbait series. Both of these are Jimmy Houston's design(supposedly) 1. The blade Looks awesome with Great details(oklahoma) and with an awesome color. It definitely is a high quality blade. 2 Swivel- The swivel is awful. It feels hard to move, does not continue to move with ease when I tested it and it looks like it may get rusty. It is worse than the booyah swivels and the strike king kvd series. Both of those that I am using as comparison are great. Sincerely the swivel feels like a walmart $1.50 spinnerbait. Its very LOW quality. 3. Skirt- the skirt on one of them came teared up. On a product that its supposed to be closed in the package it shows that the skirt material cannot support stress and will easily break. A BIG disappointment. i Thought I could use these but it looks like a lumaflex will be used even if they send me a new skirt. 4. Hook - One of the spinnerbaits came with and OK hook the other came with a Cheap hook. the Worst Booyah has a better hook than this and this is a stretch cause the booyah Spinnerbaits arent that good. The other Is the worst hook ive had on a spinnerbait. I prefer the walmart spinnerbait hooks than these. 5. Extras - the Wire is not stainless steel. they came rusted already. Bad Bad quality. the Body looks good though and it may help a little. Conclussion: Buy quality Spinnerbaits. If you buy these, in order to make them perform in the same way than a KVD you need to spend a whole lot more. Not Worth it. If you want a blade try to find it locally instead of buying the whole thing. Later this week ill let you know about the official rating. Check these pics out: I havent fish them yet but I should do this tomorrow or tuesday. Who knows.

Bass And Tournament Fishing Stigma
it seems like the lake I always fish was a lot more pressured before. I remember around 15 years ago I would go fishing with my family and we were stuck on fishing from shore with nightcrawlers and lines rolled into spray cans. the equipment was extremely cheap. we would always catch a bunch. apparently the bass fishing boom was on that time and there would always be boats getting really close. One day a boat came really close to us. to make matters worse he stopped and started casting towards us in the shore. I dont think it was their second cast when my father was fuming, cursing them out HARDCORE. IT took even less time for him to grab a couple rocks and hit their boat a couple times( i bet he was actually aiming at them). They immediately left. The whole sequence took less than 2 minutes to take place and its really funny now but it sucked and made me feel bad at the time. Im also shore bound. I Hate when they blast their boats and make waves. I hate when i see people trolling. Its the dumbest way to fish. Ive met a couple anglers in the ramp area and most were very friendly and many told me what they were using and tried to help me.

Bass With Squishy Stomachs- Minnows Or Bluegill?
i read the same thing but it doesnt mean im going to potentially hurt a bass or even kill it just to know if they are eating minnows, bgills or craws. dont hurt the bass you catch. Ive been seeing into theit mouths, if i see a tail fin that I can easily pull out i will but I will never squish them.

Backlashes And Birdnests... What Line Should I Use?
I have an Abu Veritas 7 mh f paired with a daiwa laguna 6.3:1 rh and 30# power pro. Im having a couple issues with it. First will be that sometime the line kinda gets stuck and makes a backlash and a medium to small sized birdnest. Im thinking since that line is abrasive could that be the problem with my baitcaster? almost every time I cast hard with two hands looking for a long distance, this happens. Is that line( diameter of 8# mono) too thin? Im using the magnetic brake at 5 but if i put enough power into it, it will make birdnests even in the 10 setting. It happens mid cast. Thanks in advance

Any Unpopular/unknown Soft Plastics That Work For You? Or Maybe Any That You Make Yourself?
If I had half the confidence you have on a Fat IKA I would be great with them. I dont know why but for some reason I dont find that they entice the fish. I have tried to use them and every time I dont catch a thing. Maybe its my presentation(same as Senko), my little(lately) use for them or its my confidence in them but I cant catch crap on them. Anything else I should know?

My Bassing Kit
whats up with swimbaits? why do it has to be that expensive? thank God im a Spinnerbait/plastic junky and not into swimbaits or my wife would have left me already lol. ohhh and my tackle box is full at least for plastics. With two terminators on the way i shouldnt be able to fit many more spinnerbaits either. I see the TS having 2 or 3 cranks per space really soon.

Two Bites Finally - Prjavelin's Diary Updated 10/3/12
finally Did it, after 6 trips where I caught nothing I went fishing today and the lake had gone all the way up in the levels it was when I caught my first bass. So I went to a nearby spot that ive never been to and I broke the dry spell. it was amazing she jumped out of the water, went crazy, pulled and pulled and gave me a hell of a fight and took the first bass of my new rod honors. XD it was a blast!! I had a ton of pics that will be coming up in a few minutes. Can you guys guess what lure I used to catch her? she was a fatty one, around 15 inches. she was a beauty for sure. I kept it on the water and held her there because she was really spooked. I left her go after I saw she was breathing again and she wanted to leave. It was awesome. one of the inflows in the lake. i got lost on my way out and it sucked. i spent around half an hour walking around thru thick brushes until i decided i had to go back and i finally found the way out. I was scared I may had to call for help from the houses nearby. I was 50 meters from the dirt road it was embarrasing to say the least but i found my way. next time a machete will be with me to make the road.

Super Fluke, Houdini Shad, Trick Worm For My Lake?
right now the lake i fish is really hot. In the high 90's. For the past 3 weeks Ive tried everything but plastics. Summer has been extremely tough on me. I used to catch them on spinerbaits but now its not working. Taking the recommendations many of you gave me ive decided to go the plastic route and try a lot of different things. first thing that caught my eye was double fluke rig by fllukemaster. has anybody used this yet becides FM? second I have drop shot that i want to use since everybody goes to it when the bite is tough. Im using a trick worm on it in limetreuse and I dont know if that is too big of a presentation? has any of you used them this way? last but not least I just bought another pack of plastics. A houdini shad on a white color. I did a search and came up with a response from an older member that states that it is a killer bait weightless on a 4/0. he says you let it sink and twitch. or swim it barely on top. Once again im calling for help here cause I have never used one of these. What presentation should I use? After this many will think Im sponsored by YUM lol

so yes, I went fishing today again. I got skunked again and rained on too. I had to cut my trip short. Fished for one hour pretty much. All and all I got some useful infomation from someone that was coming from the spot I was going into. the spot is a series of points and coves. most are rocks like the ones I showed in the pictures. well there was this guy coming from there with his kid. He told me he caught 2 bass. One him and his kid had another one. Both were caught from the points casting into the middle of the lake. Both were caught with a brush hawg kind of plastic in a brown color. He had hard baits also tied to the other rods but caught nothing with those. for the hour i spent there I used a trickworm in limetreuse color. Also tried a spinnerbait for a while. Fished one lure then the other for a little while and moved. that was my day pretty much. I got soaked in water. Now I realize how having rain gear can save the day.

ill look into the floating boats. I don't know how to swim so I'm gonna be a little hesitant to get one. I will need a vest for sure. here are a couple more pics of the lake. many will say these look like many bass will hold there. think again. Ive never seen or caught one here(at least in the 4 months ive been fishing for bass) are those holes bass nesting sites?
