  1. Let me know how you do at the Mill. We plan on going there this weekend. Kyle
  2. When using a spinning rod for this, do you side arm the cast like skipping a rock? or do you use a flipping style motion?
  3. My best moments while fishing... That is an easy one for me. Watching my 3 oldest catch their first fish from grandpa's pond!!! It was a little crazy taking 3 at a time but it will be something I will remember for the rest of my life, and I hope they do too. Kyle
  4. Congrats on one heck of a bass!!!!!
  5. kylek replied to Craw's topic in Fishing Tackle
Didn't Ish Monroe win an Elite series tourney using a black crankbait? I am wanting to think I read that somewhere... I never have tried one, but I would asume they would catch some fish. Especially at night time like mentioned above.
  6. Looks and sounds like an awesome time!! I am super jealous.. it is my dream to get on waters to catch that many smallmouth!! Kyle
  7. Those are all great!!! Thanks for the good laugh tonight!! Much needed after a bad day at work. Kyle
  8. We had some decent luck at Watkins Mill last weekend. Well, I should say my father in law did as he put on a clinic catching fish. Most of them were shorts but still fun. We were using 10" plastic worms fishing the grass that seems to go all the way around it. 2 weeks ago fishing there with a wacky rigged senko style bait we caught a ton and 4 3-4lbers. We have been wanting to go to Smithville, but we never seem to do any good there!!!!
  9. They have a Thursday night and Saturday tournament at Smithville lake put on by Burton's Bait. Also some around the Blue Springs area. Check the outdoor section of the kansas city star. They have a section titled tournament trail. Shows when and where tourneys are and results from past tourneys.
  10. I have 2 goals for 2012. 1-catch a 5lb or bigger largemouth 2- learn to fish off shore structure. I am a bank beater and want to learn!!!
  11. Heading out to Watkins Mill this morning. Hoping the fish are biting like they were last week!!
  12. Congrats!! My father in law and I fished it also. We didn't win any money but weighed 3 fish trying for the 3.0 of 4.0lb even fish. We had a 2.96, 3.60 and 3.96.. so we were close. Where did you fish? We fished in the Niangua arm. I think in the fall we are going to fish a lot farther north. The one in the fall pays even more!!! 60k to the winner
  13. Only ones I have are the KVD 1.5 and 2.5 models. My favorite colors are sexy shad and chartreuse with black back.
  14. 10lb stren clear on my spinning reel 12 lb stren clear on one baitcaster 12lb Vicious fluorocarbon on the other reels.
  15. When I fish them wacky rigged I use a 7' medium action spinning rod on 10lb mono. When i fish them texas rigged I use a 1/8 oz. bullet weight on a 6'6" medium baitcaster with 12 lb fluoro. I only use the 5" models but catch all size fish with them. I caught a few this last weekend that made you wonder what the fish was thinking when it ate it!!!!
  16. Thanks for the info. Gonna have to head out there soon!!
  17. Out of the ones you listed I have only tried the Lew's and love it. My father in law just picked up two of the Citicas and he really likes them. I don't think you can go wrong with any of your choices.
  18. found this on google http://www.ksdk.com/news/article/317903/3/Walmart-warns-about-1000-gift-card-texting-scam
  19. I normally use 4/0 or 5/0. If I had to choose just one it would be the 4/0.
  20. Anything but fluorocarbon should be fine. I use 12lb Sten mono on my topwater rod.
  21. I don't know an exact number but I would guess between 75-100, with the biggest being a 4.11lb. Now if we can count white bass in with largemouth the number would be over 150!!!
  22. After this weekends fishing trip I need to change my answer!!! We knocked the crud out of the bass on a 5" yum dinger fished wacky rigged!!! It didn't matter what color we threw at them!!!
  23. Congrats to your wife!! Sounds like a fun weekend. Whats the best area to fish at Melvern. Seeing these smallies makes me want to make the 2 hr. drive and catch some!!!! Kyle
  24. I bought a bunch of these a few months ago. Mostly the pit boss and the craw fattie in a wide variety of colors. I have only fished them a handfull of times and have never had a bite. I should probably give them a few more tries, but I end up going to the yum dingers and catch fish. I might just try and sell what I have left and pick up something else!!!
  25. What are the best areas to fish Melvern? My father in law and I would love to get a few smallies on the board this year. It is almost a 2 hour drive from our place. Where would be the best best... Melvern or Coffey County? I have only caught 2 at CC and never have fished Melvern. Thanks for any help on this. Kyle
