All the SA's in my area stop selling fishing stuff a couple of years back.

I have been throwing yozuri copoly now for several years, I use it for almost all my applications except for Frogging and Punching. I throw 12-15 lb.

In my case its the location. I fish a couple of times a month out on Lake Okeechobee, and the cover at some of these locations can be pretty thick. In open water situations, I have been having success with 15lb yozuri on a 7'3" St. Croix LTB MH Fast tip. You may want to consider dropping down in weight a tad on those swim jigs in a grassy situation. I personally think 1/2 oz on a swim jig is pretty heavy, in vegetation, but then again I am not fishing in your part of the country and don't know the depth's you are dealing with. I like using 1/4 oz swim jigs with a variety of trailers in grass and vegetation and find I don't get hung up nearly as much because and I can swim the jig easily above and around the grass.

My swim jig out fit is a 7 ft MH St. Croix Avid, on a Curado I with 40lb PowerPro braid. This setup launches swimjigs pretty good and has great backbone for when you hook up.

I would click over on to Seibert's site. His spinnerbaits are very well made and durable. You can even ask for them in custom colors and different blade configurations.

I would just fish it. Those are small ponds, you can basically walk around them trying different approaches until you figure out a pattern. You have already confirmed there's bass in there. You're idea is very creative however. I guess I'm old school when it comes to these things.

Best of luck to you this time around. Watch those videos, and my best advice for you is to buy dummy plugs; practice in an open space and become familiarized with the b/c again before you go out fishing with it. Practice..practice..practice... get that thumb trained on feathering and braking that spool. Goodluck

Both will catch you a mess of fish, and both can be fished in a variety of ways. You will be doing yourself a disservice if you didn't have these 2 baits in your tackle box.

Hi Chris, 2 things, 1st, this thread will most likely be moved to the other species thread, and 2. Peacocks don't live in your part of town, Gotfishyfingers said it best. The most Northern part of the state that peacocks reside is in Palm Beach and as far south as Florida City.

Agreed... my min to punch is 65lbs.

I have the same Avid rod, and a 704 as well. The 704 is the most comparable, and although the Avid is a great rod, the 704 balances a heckuva lot better too.

50 lbs is great for HB frogging in thick vegetation, other applications would be, heavy jigging, flipping and pitching.

My personal preference are conventional guides.

Nope... no lucky charms or superstitions here. Just flat out fish. Accept the fact that sometimes outings will suck.. but understand that sometimes they will be unbelievable!!

I practice C&R 100% of the time, if other anglers want to eat their catch, and they are legal catches. Enjoy..

There are ramps all along the alley, unfortunately due to a chain of events, the water levels are ridiculously high right now. Big G reported a few weeks ago, that ramps along the alley were closed due to high water. I can't confirm if this is still the case, but from what I saw yesterday at the Lake, I'm sure the alley remains really bad right now. Best of luck to you if you attempt to fish out there. The fish have scattered all over into the marshes. I'm sure airboaters can attest on how high the water is out there.
