  1. Ditto here as well.........
  2. I fish jerkbaits all the time..........I actually prefer a shorter rod...... like a 6'3'" medium fast action rod....The reason for thwe shorter rod? Until you get the hang of it, using the longer rod on a boat, you will find yourself slamming the rod tip into the water, motor, etc........the shorter rod helps eliminate this.......I use both a 6'3" and a 6'6" rod for jerkaits............I like the LC pointers but in my opinion, nothing beats a Lucky Craft Staysee........ ;D ;D
  3. I "palm tree" the Ika 90% of the time, but I will turn it around if I have worn that paticular Ika out.......A little xtra mileage never hurts and it catches fish either way so.........
  4. I may be out of the norm here but I never sharpen my hooks........If they get dull, I change em.......Simple as that. ;D
  5. Slim Senko? Hmmmmmmmmmm............

Avid, I'm right there with you............I love Senkos to death and they will always catch fish..........The only problem is they are not very durable........1 or 2 fish and your Senko is done........if you dont lose it on the hookset that is! I think Gary Yamamoto planned it that way! ;D
  7. Every rod I have has Rod Wrap on it............I love the feel more than anything but it also protects the cork handles........this may sound funny but I also keep rods organized with rod wrap as well......Smallie rods have yellow, worm rods have blue, etc................Make things much easier when picking up a rod to fish with............ ;D
  8. 1/4 oz Shaky head with a watermelon/red flake Zoom trick worm. ;D ;D ;D
  9. Personally, I never use any of those clips or snap swivels. I always will take the xtra 30 seconds and tie directly to the bait. ;D
  10. Blazing Saddles!!! ;D ;D ;D
  11. Question, and this is NOT to discredit anyone..........On the contrary, I was sooooooo impressed with FishChris's HUGE smallie that I showed it to a few fishing buddies.....well, one of the guys in my bass club says that the fish isnt a smallie, but a MEANMOUTH bass, which I guess is a cross between a smallmouth and a spotted bass........Is this possible? I cant say as I know what a meanmouth looks like!
  12. Sure wish I could say I will, however we have a hard time getting largemouth that big here in Colorado! ;D
  13. #1- Yes #2- Drop shot Zoom Finesse worm
  14. Sound advice here.........Tubes are also my # 1 smallie bait.............1/8 oz jighead and DRAGGED slowly on the bottom.........I dont hop or "jig" tubes..........I just drag on the bottom..........

    Yep.
  16. What a bunch of wimps! ;D I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once.............was pretty easy considering I have a............a 7 unit bridge, 4 crowns, 10 root canals, and peridontical surgery............ ;D
  17. You have a Smallie fisherman right here.............Would it make you guys feel better if I put a smallie back in my avatar?? ;D ;D ;D
  18. This is an old ploy by bait companies to get you to buy their product. In my opinion, no soft plastic will ever be better than live bait..........as far as B.A.S.S banning the bait? I think they said that about the banjo minnow as well..... ;D
  19. I cant believe no one mentioned bandit cranks. The 100 and 200 series are my favorites!
  20. I wish everything in Colorado was as green as the grass where you are! ;D
  21. Welcome to the boards! Tough question to answer without knowing everything. were you fishing from a boat? What has the weather been like the past few days? Location of the lake? Sometimes, you cant catch fish no matter what you do........Did you try upsizing or downsizing your lure? How bout changing color? Were the fish suspended? You said they were jumping, did you try some sort of topwater? Next time, instead of fishing cover, find the best structure you can find in deep water........I.E........a hump next to the river channel adjacent to a bluff wall......... ;D
  22. IMO, I dont think a "burner" reel is good for flippin/pitchin...........I try not to use a reel with a ratio above about 5.4 to 1........The slower reel has more torque to it so you can horse the fish out of cover better..........Just my .02........ ;D
  23. Welcome!!!! My fav's for shakey head? Zoom Trick worm, and GYCB "Stretch 40" grub........Just an FYI that I dont tell a lot of people............Shakey head is NOT just for worms, they can be very effective as well with craws and creature baits..........4 or 5 inch GYCB craws work very well on a shakey head........Shhhhhhhh.....Dont tell anyone............ ;D
  24. Cant really go wrong with a St. Croix........I'm sure RW will have an opinion on this but for me personally, I prefer a 6'6" medium/ fast action rod for Smallies..........You might look at the Avid series from St Croix or the G loomis Bronzeback edition rods but they are a bit pricey.... ;D ;D
  25. I agree with opinions above.........
