  4. I am not trying to hi-jack this thread or anything, but I just wanted to let all the Kansas boys know that if they would like to participate in the Bass Resource 2nd Annual Missouri Members Tournament that they are more than welcome. So for those of you who wouldn't mind making the drive to Little Dixie Lake on April 26th, you are invited. Anyone interested can just post in the MO Members thread or shoot me a PM. Thanks...OK I'll go now.
  5. I think we had seven boats last year. If the tournament were to go off tomorrow we would have seven boats. So far so good. I am gonna shoot a few other MO members I know of some PMs to let them know the tournament is on.
  6. I like the three fish bag instead of five. Lord knows it was tough enough catching one or two. I think the voting for length limit works for me as well. We will probably have to vote on what to do about the winnings. I could care less either way if it's cash or baits. So, let's see. Who do we have so far? Valascus Thats Mr. carp7 harshman and his wife Needemp M_Fields BassChaser57 ring fry jaskoh Daniel My Bratwurst RottManK9 and ninerMan CLTodd Brain1976 skunked again Calling Dink and GMAN! ;D Where dey be at?
  7. First one to catch the 8 lb 3 oz. monster wins. ;D
  8. So much for the LOZ around the end of April. I guess some folks sent in their regattas before mine. The 26th is pretty much eaten up at any location at LOZ. This being the case, and since their has been some interest shown, I suggest moving it back to last seasons location of Little Dixie. Heck, we all know there are some hawgs in there anyway. The only problem I can see is if we are going to do a weigh in, what should the length limit be set at? All fish between 12" to 15" has to be released immediately, making it kind of difficult to keep any for a weigh in. I am also kicking around the idea of shortening the length limit for the fish to count towards the limit since everyone and their brother was catching fish in the 13-14.75" range.
  9. Bingo. Competition typically drives down prices. Now with Blu-Ray not having any other competition, they can basically set their prices however they see fit.
  10. With as much as I throw cranks, I have recently picked up a medium BPS Crankin' Stick. I am going to pair it with a David Fritts Signature Series reel, but I am not sure on whether I should get a 5.2:1 or a 4.7:1. I know when fishing cranks, slower is better. However, other than being a slower reel than the 5.2:1, are their any other advantages to having a reel that is that slow on the retrieve? Is the 4.7:1 better for throwing larger, deeper diving cranks than the 5.2:1 or does it really make a difference? Any advice would be appreciated.
  11. Yep, they sure do. But a lot of convenient stores stopped carrying them. When I get out to a gas station or convenient store a little further out in the sticks I may come across one. I remember being in 7th grade and buying two of them one summer after a day at the local pool. Drank both of 'em back to back. Horrible idea. I was all jittery and jumpy for quite a while after that and slept like hell that night. I dont even drink coffee. Does the same thing to me as the energy drinks. Plus it tastes like crap, in my opinion. I usually don't have any problems with feeling tired or sluggish. I just make sure I get at least 6 hours-ish of sleep a night, wake up early enough in the morning to make myself a solid breakfast, and try to keep physically active.
  12. Yeah...General tires are kinda...well...yeah. Their Exclaim line is an okay tire. But any of their light truck tires are crap. I have never heard anything really great about Goodyear Wrangler tires. I always hear about, and have seen adjustment tires, with poor tire wear despite keeping proper air pressure and keeping up with proper regularly scheduled tire maintenence. Lots of BFG Rugged Trail folks around here. They are good tires, don't get me wrong, but they are essentially watered down versions of BFG All Terrain T/M KOs that aren't really a whole lot cheaper than their superior "big brothers".
  13. I don't drink any of that stuff at all. I don't think people realize exactly how bad those things are for your heart. In some people, the ingredients can cause a dangerously fast heart rate. Not to mention the insane amount of sugars contained in them. It's like drinking diabetes in a can. health concerns aside, anytime drink any "energy" drink, I feel "energized" for maybe an hour or so. Then I only to end up feeling more tired when the effects wear off than before I drank it in the first place. No thanks.
  14. If I am going for a burger, then it's Hardee's for me. When they have their Philly Cheesesteak Thickburger I always make it a point to go get one...or two. Their Mushroom and Swiss Thickburger is pretty darn good too.
  15. I work for Ampac Tire in the St. Charles, MO warehouse. Most of the tires mentioned are pretty good. The Discoverer line can be kinda hit and miss at times. The Bridgestone Dueler Revo line is an impressive tire. Michelin LTX M/S are good, but very pricey. Fourbizz hit the nail on the head. The BFG All-Terrain KOs are by far the best blend of performance, treadlife, and affordability, in my opinion. The only thing I can think of that may be considered a strike against them could possibly be riding noise, but thats all personal preference. If the tire is sticking to the road, wearing properly, and didn't cost me a bundle, then a little ride noise is a non-issue. Got BFG All terrain KOs on all my vehicles. If you are not a fan of BFGs and want to go a different direction, Yokohama's Geolander, the aforementioned Bridgestone Revo, and Firestone Destination lines of tires are all also quality tires.
  16. Gamma Co-Polymer #8 to #12 depending on size of bait and depth.
  17. The short answer is NO. But, if Robofish does ever come to pass, I think I have the answer for it...
  18. Alright, I am going to put in a regatta for April 26th at the Coffman Beach Access Area. I think I am going to have to make the starting time 8:00am that way anyone driving from their home to the tournament will have time to make it there on time and not have to leave at 3am.
  19. You're kidding, right? :-? That thing is a spelling and grammatical abomination! I could probably find 30+ grammatical rules and spelling mistakes throughout that "apology". If I had legal representation, and I sent out something like that, I would have my own lawyer sue me on grounds of stupidity.
  20. I'll start taking a look into getting a regatta for the Coffman Beach area. What date will work the best for most folks? April 26th or May 3rd?
  21. I have been using Shimano Reels exclusively up until now. I decided this season that their products are just too rich for my blood given that fact that I ust don't get out and fish as much as I would like. So I decided to start poking around with BPS rods and reels. I ended up purchasing BPS 2008 "Limited Edition" (whatever that means) Pro Qualifier. The only three real differences I see between the limited edition PQs and their regular PQs are: 1) Limited Edition PQs have 10 ball bearings vs regualr PQs 7 ball bearings. 2) Limited Edition PQs don't have the Titanium Mitride Line Guide that regualr PQs do. 3) Limited Edition PQs have the purple/blue color changing paint, which I could care less about. ;D BPS had the limited edition PQs on sale for $69.88 while their regular PQs were $99.99. The limited ones felt pretty good to me, so I bought 4 of 'em. Can't wait for the seaon to start so I can try 'em out. Never used any other house brands other than BPS, so can't comment their.
  22. I think Mr. Walnuts here MIGHT be a Sasquatch.
  23. 6'0", 155lbs. Built for speed!!
  24. The when will more than likely be late April. I am looking at the weekend of April 26th in particular or possibly the first weekend in May. Depends on which date works best for the most folks. This year I'd like to fish a larger impoundment. Little Dixie was great, but it is a small lake, and it fishes even smaller. Such is the case with most smaller lakes. I am considering reviving the idea of having the tournament based out of PB2 or the Larry R. Gale Access point of the Lake of the Ozarks. I would have to look up regattas for that access period to see if having a tournament out of there around that time of the year is even feasible. Any other thoughts or ideas for a possible location or date? Lake Access Points: http://www.funlake.com/marine/ramps.php#8
  25. Not sure yet, but it's a pretty safe bet that it'll be later than the first week of April. I'm gonna change a few rules this time too. This time there will be a weigh in and an admission fee which will be used as prize money, and if we have enough money, some will go towards Big Bass.
