  1. Well fellas, I am considering throwing together another one of these MO get togethers for sometime this spring...preferably to coincide with prespawn. I just wanted to throw a thread out there to guage the level of interest. Any takers?
  2. Lets see... +1 for ******. "Periwinkle Blue, boys." Seven - Freakin' awesome movie. Ashamed I do not have it on DVD. Fight Club - Another fantastic movie. "Wait, wait...I got it...ah ***** I lost it." (Noticing a trend here yet?) Shaun of the Dead was better than Hot Fuzz, but the last 30 minutes of Hot Fuzz make the entire movie! ;D I just picked up Zodiac on DVD. Haven't had the chance to watch it yet, but have heard great things about it.
  3. Well, why not. I haven't posted in a while, so why not restart by making an absolute fool of myself! ;D This picture was taken yesterday actually. I was at my local YMCA breaking in our spanking new membership by taking my daughter swimming. I was making a funny face at my daughter, oblivious to the fact that my loving wife had our camera armed and ready! Notice the pasty white complexion gained by lack of outdoor activity due to wintertime cabin fever.
  4. Maybe I am thinking of hybrid striped bass then. I remember at one time the card that outlined what species were available in each lake had either striper or hybrid striper on it. I can't remember which...or maybe I am just going crazy. You are a tougher man that I F@bio. Temps this weekend are supposed to be 20 for the high on Saturday and 9 for the low. Gonna be a balmy 11 degrees tonight. That's some C-O-L-D fishing right there. Good luck!
  5. I have not fished for either of those species at Busch Wildlife. The only lake Musky are stocked in is lake 35. Here is a quote on fishing prospects for Musky at Busch Wildlife directly from the Missouri Department of Conservation Website: "Muskies in the 20-40 inch size range are occasionally caught at Lake 35 with 60% of the spring sample larger than 36 legal length. Large rattle traps have been most productive. The size limit is 36 inches for muskies- please practice catch-and-release for these trophies." This information may be a little dated as MDC doesn't always seem to keep as up-to-date info as they probably should. Also be aware that lake 35 is LOW...and I mean dangerously LOW. There have been reports elsewhere on this board regarding news of a small hole in the dam combined with the lack of rain as the culprit for the low lake level. Not sure how badly this will effect the musky population. Also, here is a link that is featured on the Missouri Department of Conservations website regarding Musky in MO lakes: http://mdc.mo.gov/fish/sport/muskie/ As far as striped bass go, I wasn't able to find any onfo on them, but if memory serves me, I believe they are located in the larger lakes: 33, 35, and maybe 34. Not too sure about them though. Hope some of this info helps. Oh, and welcome to the boards.
  6. Consider this though. The state of Tennessee is one of the few states in the U.S. that DOES NOT make it's citizens pay state taxes. It doesn't surprise me that the sales tax is a bit high. The state needs to make up that revenue somewhere. I would rather pay a bit higher sales tax and not have to pay state taxes than vice versa.
  7. Well, I don't believe in Bigfoot, Sasquatch, or Yeti or whetever you wanna call 'em, but, those are like no bear I have ever seen before. And the front legs or arms of the animal are way too long for it to be a human dressed up in some sorta get up. No humans arms are that long. I dunno what on earth those are. However, all that said, c'mon folks, you don't think the timing of the release of this "evidence" isn't a little coincidental? It was ,after all, Halloween the day the story was released. I'll believe in Sasquatch when I see it with my own two eyes close enough to be d**n sure...then I'd probably soil myself. ;D
  8. Key word here is SOFT PLASTIC!!! People are just freakin' stupid it seems. Why spend way more than the suggested retail for the baits when they are going to tear in a fish or two? : "A fool and his money will soon part."
  9. Now THAT is funny!!
  10. Congratulations with the pending addition of your little fisherMAN! Hopefully your wife's doctor is right and the placental position rights itself. The best you can do for her right now, is be there for her and try to make her as comfortable as possible. I apologize if I offended you in any of my previous posts. I was simply offering my OPINION on the matter with the information that had been provided. No harm or offense intended. Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy, and may it be a healthy and uneventful one!
  11. That is indeed very true, flechero. It is a great thing for him to help her out with the inside chores more as she progresses through her pregnancy, which will cosume a lot of her energy throughout the day. That much he should do and take pride in the fact that he is helping her feel better by allowing her to get more rest. However, marriage is not about one person blatantly taking advantage of another and lying to do so, which from what I can gather, is exactly what she is doing. She definately can use more help with all the chores more often than usual, but I think her going shopping and and sitting on the couch all day is a little unfair and extreme in itself.
  12. I have a question for you. #1) Did you go to the doctor with her for the visit where she was told she "couldn't do any housework"? If not, next appointment you go to, try to get the opportunity to talk to the doctor alone and voice your concern regardong your wifes lack of activity during her pregnancy, which as Fluke suggested, will cause un-necessary weight gain, which will lead to gestational diabetes. If says nothing about your wife being unable to do housework, and shares your concerns on gestational diabetes, then you can suggest to your wife that she help with some housework for her and the babies health. How could she get mad at you for being concerned for her health, after all? Then you'll have more feeshin' time! ;D Also, some women do get to the point in a pregnancy where they have to exercise EXTREME CAUTION. Some women could have a condition known as preclampsyia (I think I spelled it right). Learned all about that kind of stuff when My wife and I took a Lamaze class while she was pregnant with our little girl. Oh, and BTW, she worked all the way up until the day before she was induced. http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/preeclampsia-eclampsia Scary stuff. I am sure you wife doen't have it or she wouldn't be out shopping and all that. Doctors orders for that are essentially bedrest, bedrest, and more bedrest.
  13. The goose is a little surprising as I didn't think Canadian Geese traveled with anything but other Canadian Geese. But the frogs are not only very surprising, but also disturbing. Anyone who is irresponsible enough to release an animal such as that, which could possibly have quite an adverse effect on the ecosystem, into the environment needs to have their head examined. > Those frogs live in climes that are much warmer and moist than anywhere in the midwest. Chances are that the cold temperatures of late fall and winter will probably kill the frogs.

What type of job is this? Do you need a full boot, or can you get away with steel toed tennis shoes (also known as steel toed oxfords)?
  15. Try that trick with yer finger in the water! Noodlin' fer bass!!
  16. BiteLight = Complete Fraud Kicktail = Complete Fraud Helicopter Lure = Complete Fraud Hydra Lure = Complete Fraud My rule of thumb is, if they take out one of those huge, full page advertising spaces and make it look like an official story, or the lure is sold on TV, I won't spend a dime on any of it. In fact I feel like I have wasted my time by having my eyes even slightly glance at the ad just as I turn the page.
  17. The Flappin' Hog is back! New and Improved, Version 2.0. The Baitmonkey is beckoning! MWA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Might have to pick a few of those bad boys up. I wanted to try them before they had their issues and had to temporarily quite selling them. http://www.***/cgi-bin/order/FH-07
  18. Who knows how it will work. Could be great or maybe not...I'm sure you'll let us know. Kudos to you for experimenting though. Those who take the time to let their imagination lead them to new types of baits or presentations could stumble across the next great thing in the sport as far as baits go. Keep that brain a churning for new ideas! I will admit, that is one of my biggest problems. I have a hard time thinking outside the box and rather take the safe route and use "proven" methods. Something I need to work on. :-/
  19. Sam has the right idea. If you wait the conditions to be "ideal" to catch fish, you'll never get out on the water. Go out whenever you darn well feel like it and get some practice in all types of conditions. Fish gotta eat, no matter what.
  20. Awesome!! Congrats!!
  21. "SO...who is ready for an administering of a good beating tomorrow? ANYONE?!? ANYONE!?!" Oh, oh, pick me... ;D. Yeah, Rich (dink), laid the beatdown on everyone. I believe he had a 6 fish limit of over 15 lb between himself and his partner Doug. Rich also landed the two hawgs of the day of 3lb 15oz. (I think), and 4lb 2oz. Second place got one fish that was 2lb 10oz. Glen (cart7) got our only keeper to the boat...and when I say keeper, he was just barely a keeper. We didn't bother weighing it, but I would estimate about a pound-ish. If we would have landed those two keepers that came unbuttoned at the boat, we may have gotten second. Wash Co. is a good lake. It is a few feet low right now, but boy...when it gets some water, there are some prime fishy spots up there. Tough day of fishing, but fun nonetheless. I really wanna come back out there again in two weeks. We will see how that goes. I feel I need to get some redemption.
  22. SO...who is ready for an administering of a good beating tomorrow? ANYONE?!? ANYONE!?! ;D
  23. I usually never keep a bass. However, the one place I will keep a bass is on my grandparents property. The two ponds she has are way overpopulated resulting in stunted bass. So I harvest some of the smaller ones and throw the larger fish in the population back. Any other fishery, the bass go right back in the water. For the most part, I am strictly catch and release on any species, but I have been known to keep enough crappie or catfish to make a meal for my wife and I. That hasn't happened in well over two years now. Fish I enjoy eating are walleye (best tasting freshwater fish IMO), crappie, trout, and catfish. As far as keeping your catch or C&R go, it is all up to each persons personal preference when it all boils down to it. I prefer catch and release. I have absolutely no problem with the folks who paid for their fishing license just like I did to keep a few fish to eat, no matter what the species. Where I get is fired up is when they do it illegally, i.e. keeping fish under the required length, keeping more than the legal limit on a body of water, keeping fish without buying a fishing license. As long as everything is on the up and up, I'm cool with it.
  24. I was thinking the same thing. I don't think the pattern that was in place on last Saturday is going to be the case this Saturday. The weather pattern has been pretty stable and on the warmer side for a full week by Saturday.
