  1. did you spool up a spinning reel or baitcaster?
  2. I bought 2 Stradic FI's and had an issue with both-and neither of them were bought at BPS. The bail on my 2500 does not always stay closed and the 1000 is far from 'smooth'. I am sure both issues can be resolved with a little maintenance, however, IMO, new $160 reels should not have these issues. FD
  3. I'll have to give the Soron spinning reel a look when it hits stores....my Stradic FI's didn't really meet my expectations...likely to be replaced. Seems like the Abu spinning reels have had good reviews recently. FD
  4. X2 I like a 6.2:1 as well. I am better at slowing down a fast reel than speeding up a slow reel.....
  5. I use the BPS flouro and really like it. If I am not mistaken, it is made by Toray.... I am using the Berkley Trilene flouro as well. I would rate it just a tad better in memory and break strength than the BPS, but not enough to justify the price difference-you can pick up BPS on sale for around 10 bucks a spool. note: in the search for my favorite line, the BPS flouro is slowly taking the #1 spot.... FD
  6. Matt, What size(s) have you tried? Just curious how the action is on the smaller (4in) bait..... FD
  7. Skillet, I would be interested in hearing more on this rebate as well-any details you can share? FD
  8. I'm going with X2...I'm not seeing this as TIGER'S greatest win....let alone the greatest in the history of golf....
  9. Often thought the same thing myself. would love to hear more on this....
  10. cool pics. what is the top speed of that beast?
  11. Ok, I'm in. Since we are all speculating-I say there is a good chance that they will still be heavy and have backplay in the handle..... FD
  12. Of those you listed, I would go with the Avid as well. With that being said, I think the new Avids have a retail price north of your stated $150 max.... FD
  13. Trick worm on a split shot. Doesn't seem to matter what color. Started fishing this around the middle of the season last year and it is becoming one of my favorite and most effective ways to fish. Have NOT had luck on lipless cranks this year, which is usually what puts them in the boat for me.
  14. I have to agree with the SJR843S in IMX. I have this rod and never leave home without it. It is a fairly stiff rod, but I think the 842 is a little soft to be an all around rod. no matter what model you get, IMO, you will be well served to step up to IMX-signficant difference.
  15. I have actually had this happen twice. First time I knew when it happened-trolled right into a pile of rocks. Second time, I have no idea what happened-didn't notice it until we got home. It must have happened during loading the boat or towing. Anyway, picked up a couple spare mounts at BPS yesterday. If I remember correctly, they were 20 bucks each. FD
  16. Catt, I have thought about picking up this rod for a spare reel I have laying around. What applications do you use it for? Is it heavy enough for a jig rod? FD
  17. Redline, do you know if they are making any changes/additions to the spinning reels? Would love to see a smaller size.
  18. RW, I tried the 12# co-polymer on BC gear and it worked fine. to be honest, I find it very similar to regular Yo-Zuri in stretch and memory. I don't have any hard data to back this up, but I think the break strength may be a little higher. Now, 6lb on spinning gear was a disaster. I took the same precautions-conditioned the line, spooled properly, trolled, etc and it was unfishable. Kept looping off the reel and the memory was horrible. FD
  19. yep. good deal. and, IMO, way more reel than the Chronarch 50mg. yes, owned both until getting rid of the 50 due to the 'Shimano backplay'.
  20. Thanks again for the heads up. walked away with a whole lotta LC's. Bummed that there were not any Steez left when I got there. I got to thinking about it-that was a HUGE discount on a lot of items that you never see on that type of sale. Makes you wonder if they really needed to generate some cash flow in a hurry.... Harsh, have you heard anything other than it just being a 'spring sale'?
  21. Harsh, are they downsizing their fishing selection or just moving some old stuff? was that Steez spinning or BC? I will be driving right by it tomorrow morning on the way to the farm... FD
  22. I just saved a bunch of money by switching my car insurance to Geico.
  23. I own both, and think they are both great rods. I like the IMX a little better. I don't have any scientific evidence to prove that it is more sensitive, but to me, it just has a better 'feel'. Balances well and very light weight-spinning or baitcasting. IMO, the IMX is the best 'value' in higher end rods. FD
