Florida Bragging Rights Club (November 2013)
lol that's why I do all my grocery shopping at Walmart I was wondering how I always seem to find something related to fishing in my cart. I guess there must be an employee at each of our walmarts playing fishing tricks on us

What color KVD did you end up getting? I'm the same way I hate treble hooks too lol. I'm just waiting for the day I hook myself on the cast or the bait flies back at me and hits me in the face lol

"If it ain't broke don't fix it" Absolutely right that's y I didn't swap em out. Yesterday when I had that big one shake it that's like the 2nd time that has happened so it's not like it happens a lot. As far as the shad raps go the hook are a little small so a bigger one may help that

I'm not really sure what hooks to switch to when my buddy was telling me it went in one ear out the other lol. I know his friend changes the hooks on the shad rap to a bigger treble hook. Maybe it's because the ones they come with are cheap idk. But I'd imagine if you have a bigger hook or a better brand of hook then that might make the hook ups easier. I will ask him whAt type he uses and why tomorrow and let you know what his professional opinion, hes funny like that lol, is but I'd imagine it has to do with the quality of hooks that come standard on cranks.

I just said you caught a PB, which is true, I don't think you can get much smaller than that fish

Went out today for about hour and a half around 4ish to my main spot. Started with the frog at all 3 ponds and not a bite. Then I put the frog rod away and broke out the crank rod... good decision. First cast dink on, second cast fish on probably just under 2lbs. Then the third cast BOOM fat girl on! Reeling her in she showed herself once went back under and then showed herself again and that was the last I saw from her she shook the hook on the KVD 1.5. I was told to always switch out the hooks on these cranks but I never have, live and learn. So I leave the main pond and go to the back pond for a few casts with the frog, I never cranked at this one because it's not really made for it a lot of submerged grass and hang ups. Threw out frog in my normal spots where I catch fish and nothing, usually I will see a wake come towards it but not even a curious fish today. I go back to my car a figure hey frog didn't work at the other ponds and the crank did so what the hell I'll try it. Threw out the crank couple times and kept pulling in grass. Cast out again and was reeling it in not really paying attention because I didn't expect to get anything but a dirty hook. BOOM threw me off guard and she almost took the rod out my hand! She put up a nice fight and then I get her to shore. She INHALED the crank never had a fish do that when using a crank before I usually have to worry about them barely being hooked. I think this must have been her first meal of the day the way she took it. 21" to cull one of the 19s Had to take a pic... that color has been killing the fish GET YOU ONE

What Was Your Most Thankful Moment This Year While Fishing ?
I'm thankful that I have a girlfriend who enjoys fishing and allows me to go fishing with my boys. Without a good woman us men are nothing! Remember that and treat you significant other right.

Crankbaits??
Yea I use the KVD 1.5s exclusively I love em. But I only have success with a few colors so I just keep those 5 in my box. I also like Shad Raps a lot! They run deeper but if u keep your rod tip high then they run shallow, very versatile bait when nothing else seems to work I can usually count on the shad rap to get me a fish

Ultra Light Combo
Thanks for the links I may go this route saving money is always good. I had the pflueger president reel til it broke on a 24" bass (but my reel was beat up so it was more so that than the fish) and now I have the Patriarch... I am a big fan of pflueger

Ultra Light Combo
Yea the spots I would be using it at have absolutely no cover, wood, rocks, or weeds so I wouldn't have to worry about breaking off

Florida Bragging Rights Club (November 2013)
Weekend started off slow with Czar and DS. We were out from 6:30 to 11:45 ish and got into some fish hitting up about 5 or 6 different spots. Missed a big one where DS caught his PB on a frog and caught another one on a frog at Wells. All the other fish that morning came on KVD 1.5 (craw and bluegill) and Shad Rap (bluegill). Then I went back out around 3-3:30ish to my golf course, I don't even know why I drive to all these far places when this spot is right up the street. Got into a bunch of fish biggest being 21" that came on the black frog, as usual. I caught 6 on the frog, if I remember correct, and missed a whole bunch more. Then I caught 3 on my Shad Rap but they were all dinks. Sunday I went out around 4ish to the course again and they were on but my hook set wasn't. I had one giant, could have been the biggest bass I caught there easily. I did a oops cast and was just reeling it back in and wasn't paying attention. I hear and then feel her explosion and I set the hook. She stayed deep shaking her head and then she graced me with her presence on the jump as she shook the hook and took off! I had a bunch more misses stayed there for about a hour hitting up the 3 different ponds that I usually have success in. I had two or three retrieves in different ponds when the fish hit it more than 3 times one hit it 4 times in a row (may have been the same fish or could have been 2 fighting for the frog IDK) I left there and found this other spot that is on my way home. I stopped there for only 20mins or so before it got dark and ended up catching 10 all dinks biggest was maybe 1.5# all on a shad rap. Today went out for a few hours with DS and Czar I got skunked but they caught some fish, I didn't see any of them so they could be lying lol just kidding DS sent me a pic when I was on my way. I had one fish bump my KVD at DS PB spot. Funny I casted out and was reeling in fast and then BOOM BIGGEN!!! My rod tip is bending and I feel the fish... then I reel in and realize I was snagged on a rope LMAO. I swear I thought I had like a 6lber or more and the fact that when I was reeling the rope was moving and giving resistance so I thought it was a fish hah. Fortunately none of them saw me because they were fishing the pond across the street but I told them about it lol. Then we went to another spot and I had two hits on the frog but missed em both. Here is the 21" only one that did anything for my number. one of the prettier fish that I have caught

Ultra Light Combo
the spot I want to fish it at has no cover at all. Water is crystal clear and I see a bunch of big bass swimming around with smaller ones and tons of bluegill and bait fish

Ultra Light Combo
how much would that cost me?

Orra Reels
I have an Orra spinning reel and a baitcast, I am not proficient with the baitcast so I don't use it. I love my spinning reel though it's smooth and can handle the big girls

Ultra Light Combo
Basically anything that will hold up in case I get a big girl. I've seen them at my stores for $40 so I think they aren't reliable but who know. I would spend around $150 but if I can get something good and reliable for much cheaper I am always open to saving money. I plan on getting it Black Friday and I am already spending a nice chunk of change on a go pro. Thank for the suggestions I'd even buy one from someone on the site if it is in good condition I will make a post in the flea market when I figure out what I am looking for because I am clueless right now.

Florida Bragging Rights Club (November 2013)
fishing down there is total opposite than it is up here in Jacksonville. This weekend we, Czar & DS, were throwing frogs and cranks. The AM bite was scattered Saturday we were out from 6:30 til around 11:45ish. Then I went out in the afternoon around 3 both Saturday and Sunday and got into a bunch of fish on frogs and cranks. Obviously cranking is fast moving and when I fish my frog I use a constant retrieve. I have a feeling once this weather gets cold cold it will have to be worm and jig time, but for whatever reason the fish are on in the afternoon and killing frogs and cranks up here. Going out with Czar and DS this afternoon so hopefully they are still locked in. Northern FL anglers add some KVD 1.5s, shad raps, and frogs to your arsenal I even have my boy Mouldie from Orlando believing the hype lol. I think the cranks work because they are around the same size as the baitfish this time of year, at least that's what my fish scientist buddy told me lol If you read this Lou I will post my pics and write up when we get back around dark, so far only have a 21" to cull the 18" everything else caught this weekend was under 18

Ultra Light Combo
I am looking for a good ultra light combo that will hold up here in FL in case I hook into a big bass (I know they are usually for bluegill and crappie but I want something that can handle a nice sized bass). I've used one before in NJ and it makes fighting the fish fun. I've seen a few combos at my local stores but wasn't sure if they were any good because they were pretty cheap. Any suggestions on a ultra light reel, rod, or combo would be appreciated thanks EDITED: I would want to pend around $150 but anything cheaper would be great, I'd be pretty upset if I broke it on a big bass (going to purchase a warranty jut in case)
