  1. I was in the market for a shakyhead rod a few months ago and had settled on the crucial 7'1" ML/F but I wound up getting the 7'2" M/F compre because it seemed like it has a little more backbone, and was 50 bucks cheaper. As it turns out I'm actually going to use it as my drop shot rod as well. Its very sensitive and has a really nice tip. So yes I think this rod would be a good choice for you.
  2. I don't have all that much experience with jerkbaits but I have caught a lot of fish on a Glass Minnow colored Rapala Husky Jerk in the past. The Mcstick, Pointer, and RC STX are a few I'm anxious to try this year though.
  3. They've got the same ad in the Kansas City Craigslist and it's been teasing me for a couple weeks now... if only I could convince the wife that now was the time to buy a boat
  4. I've used it a bit with limited success. Did fairly well on schooling white bass with it one day this spring, and like someone else said they DESTROY it when they hit. The real test will be later this spring when the fish get really active.
  5. Shimano Sahara. I have three of them now since I added two more when they went on sale for $44.99 at cabelas.
  6. Added a 7'2" Shimano Compre M/F and a 2500 Shimano Sahara
  7. How much? I am one of the goofy people that prefer left handed baitcasters.
  8. I've just started using the modified albright knot and it seems really strong for tying nanofil to fluorocarbon leader.
  9. I'm in. My vote is for melvern.
  10. Don't have one yet, but I think a Shimano Symetre would look outstanding on my Compre spinning rod. Both being dark green, that would be a fine pair.
  11. You looked a bit like a zombie when I saw you at 8.......
  12. Caught my PB smallie out of Texoma about 5 years ago. We were there in mid-march and didn't catch many, but the few we did catch were very nice. Caught them all on small swimbaits while we were trying to find stripers.
  13. Toss up between a 6'10" MH Falcon Low Rider with a Gen 2 Revo S.... and a 6'6" ML Bionic Blade spinning rod (old cork handle model) with a new model 2500 shimano sedona. Both are extremely versatile and are both always with me.
  14. I have three that are 2, 4, and 6 years old. My favorite reel. Extremely smooth and easy to adjust. I'm sure the new model is of the same quality, or even better.
  15. Something in between those two in price is the clarus. It's very similar to the compre but to me is a little lighter.
  16. Supposed to be nice Wednesday. If you could stand going when you get off work I might be able to get away, just have to get daycare figured out.
  17. 1) 7'6" MH Carbonlite with a LH Gen 2 Revo S and 17 lb. Floro 2) 7' MH Carbonlite with same reel and line as above I'm about to go to a 7'6" MH BPS Extreme and use the 7' Carbonlite as a crank/spinnerbait rod.
  18. I have a 7'6" MH, 7' MH, and 7' M carbonlite (all casting) and I am very happy with them. I have owned a veritas in the past but was not pleased with the reel seat. It dug into my fingers too much and was not very comfortable when setting the hook.
  19. The shimano sedona has been a great reel for me. Very affordable at around $50. I have 5 of them, 1 silver that is about 15 years old, 2 of the old gold ones and two of the newer ones. Also check out cabelas, they have a sale right now on the Shimano Sahara for $44.99. I have 3 of them and have no complaints.
  20. 1/4 oz redeye shad, tailkicker (lil george style bait), and 4" swim shad on a darter jighead.
  21. I had some issues early on with the firing pin light striking the primer. I dont think it was an issue with the firing pin so much as it was the bolt not seating properly. It has since been a fairly reliable gun. I have not had a problem with it cycling light loads. I keep it very clean and always run it dry, any bit of oil seems to make it sluggish in cold weather.
  22. If you EVER move to gardner...........
  23. In case anyone takes me seriously, I was kidding. If you're in that area this is a decent little lake. Some good standing timber, good aquatic vegetation, and good numbers and size. But like Basser said I haven't been there in several years, so I am interested in finding out about this lake as well.
  24. It stinks. Dont waste your time........
