Who Winterizes Their Boat?
All I do is put the motor down so water doesn't accumulate in the lower unit and freeze. Doing this just showed me I have a bad grease seal in my latest purchase also I fish year round so I never really winterize and I run the carbs dry after every outing.

New Years And My Boat......
Wouldn't hurt to start checking Ebay, you never know what you can turn up there and often save many $$$$

Mini Bass Boat Advise
Get the Bass hunter that is made out of the gray plastic. Tough as nails and won't break down from UV like so many others do. I have the 8ft Baby bass that has built in wheels and it makes life much easier on the old bad back since I usually fish along. I found the best price on mine going through Amazon.com where Sportsmansguide had a listing and free shipping.

Braided Line, How Long Before You Change It Out?
Never heard of or thought of reversing braid. That is a great idea!

Braided Line, How Long Before You Change It Out?
I am slowly starting to change over from mono lines to Braided. Does the braided line last a lot longer than mono? Due to the cost I would like to get more than 1 season out of the braid. My main reason for changing is I have bought several bad spools of mono in the last couple of years both Stren and Trilene that will break with the slightest pull. Never ran in to this in nearly 50 years of fishing before. I just fish for fun now so a tournament is not on the line, but I hate losing fish or lures because of weak line.

Allweld Boats. Or Something Else???
Be sure to check out the Express line of allweld boats also. Great boats and often a little lower price than the Allweld itself.

"fishing Slow"
Water temps are around 49-51 here in W. Tn right now and fishing slow is the name of the game. With 15-30 mph wind blowing here nearly everyday this year for some reason, fishing slow is sometimes very difficult

Anyone Running A Small Outboard On Their Two Man Boat??
Good info here so far!!! Thanks. Not so much worried about the lower unit since this will not be going very fast reguardless, (prob 5mph tops) but not sure how resilient the plastic props are that come on these motors. I have never been to either of these places, some friends go occasionally and youtube videos are about all I have to judge from.

Anyone Running A Small Outboard On Their Two Man Boat??
Yeah too bad that don't make a 4hp jet! Or a motor with a shorter shaft than 15 inches.

Anyone Running A Small Outboard On Their Two Man Boat??
My 8 ft Baby basshunter is rated for 2hp. I have found some screaming deals on some new Merc 2.5 4 strokes and am seriously considering pulling the trigger. My question is what kind of speed you are able to get out of yours. My boat with a 40lb minnkota on the front will start splashing water over the bow on the number 5 speed. I am considering taking mine with me next year to the White and Spring rivers over in Ark on a couple of trout fishing trips and using it if the current isn't too swift at the time. Just wondering if I go down river a little ways if it will push fast enough to get me back up. Just me in the boat BTW. my basshunter

Just found the picture of the mess from the catfish the first time I had to use the Frabill. Two sets of small trebles buried.

Winter Baits
Well there are times Bass just shut off. Full Moon plus cooler water temps. Been fishing nearly every day for the last two months and have been catching them like crazy on a Junebug worm and Green Pumpkin lizard. Yesterday water temps went from 54 down to 52. Not a bite. Fished 2 different lakes today temps now 51. 70 degree air!!!! Still not a bite. Deep, shallow and everywhere in between. First time being skunked this year. Sometimes you just have to have patience I guess.

Help!! Bumble Bee Boats
Can't tell you about the Bumble Bee but, If you are wanting a fast good riding boat I would suggest you keep your eyes open for a 92 up Stratos-Javelin-Hydrosport, all the same hull. Very fast and great riding. I am seeing many listed right now on Craigslist for sub 4K in what appears to be very good conditions.

Frabill Net And Treble Hooks Argh!!
Ordered my new nets from Wallyworld late Weds evening and arrived at my home today Sat !!! Not real sturdy feeling but I am sure I won't have to battle getting the hooks out of these.

Frabill Net And Treble Hooks Argh!!
51 years old and fished since around 5 y/o. Can't say I have ever knowingly seen one of the rubber coated nets. Next time I am in a decent sporting goods store I am going to make it a must look for item just to check them out. The simple monofillament type nets are all I have ever had up until this disaster of a purchase.

Frabill Net And Treble Hooks Argh!!
Just looking at Walmart's site and they have the simple green mono nets with the telescoping handles just like the Frabill. Ed Cummings I think was the brand. Going back that route as that type net is what I have always used in the past with no problems. Bought the Frabill because of the extending handle for easier storage. Glad they now have the others with the same type handle for considerably less than the Frabill. Gonna buy 3 so I have one in each boat.

Well I Froze My $#$#s Off
Fish year round here in West Tenn. I have had the best bass fishing all year so far during the last 4 weeks. Water temp currently as of this past weekend was 56 degrees. We always have some nice days throughout Dec, Jan, and Feb. Fished New Years eve this past year in short sleeves and 70 degree temps. Below 40 for highs I usually stay home, just because this old man doesn't like being cold anymore.

Frabill Net And Treble Hooks Argh!!
I have a new Frabill net with the collapsing handle and the net is a black nylon? mesh type material. First time I used it and had a problem was when bass fishing and a large catfish hit my crankbait. Needless to say the catfish doing their normal spinning managed to get nearly every hook stuck into the net. I ended up having to cut the barb off every hook and destroyed that bait trying to save the new net. This past weekend I had a crankbait on a rod in the boats rod storage and when reaching for the net to get it ready just in case, a hook on that crankbait managed to bury itself into the net. I was fishing the tailwaters of Pickwick dam and with the current and dangerous conditions I just pulled out my knife and cut the hooks out without doing too much damage. No amount of pulling, poking, prying, maneuvering, etc will get these hooks out of these nets. Going to look for an old style green monofilament net. Has anyone else experienced this with the Frabill nets??? They are nice and strong, but I can't take the agrivation. Net is similar to the picture except teardrop shaped.

November 23 And They Are Still Biting Good In West Tenn
Todays little Pickwick trip. Much nicer day at least than Sat.

November 23 And They Are Still Biting Good In West Tenn
Had no luck sauger fishing today. Only one bite that I feel was a sauger and I didn't hook up. Spent the last ten minutes bass fishing with the only bass bait in the boat. Left my rod with the worm on it luckily. Caught 5 small bass in that 10 minutes so the day wasn't a total waste at least. Only sauger I saw caught was by a couple of guys crappie fishing back in the nook behind the big square pillar by the wing wall. It was right at 14 inches and was caught on a chart. crappie jig tipped with a minnow. got there after 11a.m. so I was a little late getting started.

November 23 And They Are Still Biting Good In West Tenn
I have seen a couple of reports saying they are biting but nothing very specific. I have not fished for them very often and usually don't have a lot of luck, just a few here and there. 48 degrees with 9 mph wind or 58 with 15+ on Sunday Decisions decisions LOL
