  1. Up to 40 hp same motor as well as the Mercury. Evinrude up to 15 hp is also the same motor if you are asking about the new 4 strokes. Only difference is a couple of different bells and whistles and paint color.
  2. I have had great luck with the Walmart Group 29's. I have three currently with the oldest being 4 y/o and the others 3 y/o. All work just like they did when new. 2 are in boats for the trolling motors and the other is on my camper for the 12 volt side. Never had an Interstate last more than a year and a half even in my cars. Never heard anyone with anything to say bad about these batteries before. Mine are the non-maxx variety. These batteries run my MK40 and MK45 motors all day and are still strong after a full days use. Usually recharge in about 2-3 hours depending on how far I drain them.
  3. Not sure about the "end covers" but I have some cheap plastic slicks on one of my trailers and they are fantastic! Barely have to put the trailer in the water to load or unload my 16ft Alumacraft bassboat. Bought another set to put on my tracker flatbottom trailer one of these days. Just make sure the winch strap is attached and locked down when you go up or down the ramp if you don't want your boat sitting on the ground.
  4. Pink or blue from Lowes or Home Depot. Both are closed cell foam. The two part foams are usually open cell which is why you see everyone ripping it out of the boats they are redoing.
  5. Now that you got that out of the way, go enjoy the boat and don't worry about a few more scratches. If you really fish they are going to happen.
  6. I'm thinking the trolling motor should not be wired thru a switch panel but direct to the battery with 6-8 ga and a dedicated breaker inline. The other accessories can be wired to the switch panel with much smaller wire such as 12-18 gauge. Run something like 10 gauge from the panel to the battery. On one of my boats I have two Lowrance DSI units and Minn Kota connected to the only battery in the boat and no interference FWIW.
  7. I have the Bass Hunter Bass Baby and I weigh right at 200 and my fishing partner Austrailian Sheperd is 55 lbs, plus battery, trolling motor, 2.5 Merc outboard, 50 lbs of gear, etc. These little boats are extremely stable. As long as you mainly plan to fish one person they are a great choice just because the built in wheels make launching and loading an easy one person job. If you plan to fish with a buddy you should probably go with the 10 ft EX just to have enough room. Stability will not be an issue with either on though. I really like the Bass Hunters because the plastic they use just seems to be much tougher and more durable than a lot of the others out there. I don't know about the EX but the 8 footer will splash a little water if you are fishing in larger waters and the wind gets up to around 15mph. There is a drain in the floor with a plug so letting the water out is simple. When the wind gets that high I take my bigger aluminum boats. These boats are more stable than a jon boat until you get into jon boats with 48 inch bottoms. This picture is of my boat on Reelfoot Lake. Standing and casting is not a problem and I have wobbly legs due to back problems. The best deals on these boats is through Amazon.com - Sporstmans guide.
  8. Here in W Tenn it has been a fairly mild but LLOOOONNNNGGGGG winter. We are still running 10-20 degrees below normal. At least this weekend should be nice except for the 20plus mph wind that just seems to never stop blowing now for 2 years straight.
  9. I had a friend go through this same deal on a horse trailer with living quarters. I told him it was a scam but he just had to find out the hard way. Drove from Tenn to an address in Chicago where the trailer was supposedly located. Turned out to be a vacant lot and of course no trailer. Luckily he at least took my advise and did not send any money. This was an Ebay deal with all the pictures and every thing.
  10. Young whipper snappers. It has only been about 10-12 years or so that they were all 12 inch limits LOL
  11. Finding this a little late, but as I am sure you found out the Pickwick dam flood gates are open again.
  12. Austin Kayak has the best customer service and comunications of any company I have ever done business with!!!!
  13. Just recently pulled an old Cuda 128 off one of my boats and installed an Elite 5 DSI GPS unit on the bow. The Cuda transducer is installed on the transom and I just left it there for the time being. I have a new Cuda 350 (bought on clearance last year) that has GPS and S maps and it appears to actually do a better job of mapping than the Elite. Thinking of installing it next to the Elite and just using it along side. All the connections are the same and the transducers look the same and it would save me a lot of trouble trying to re-route all the wires if this is the same transducer. Anyone have any Idea? I know the Cuda 350 transducer has a 60 degree beam but have no information on the older 128 model.
  14. I am real good at multi-tasking lol, but seriously one at the helm and bow of three different boats!
  15. I have two Mark 4 DSI GPS, two Elite 4 DSI GPS, and 2 Elite 5 DSI GPS and I can tell you the transducer is not to be used on an aluminum boat as a shoot thru. States very clearly in the manual (one of the few things the manual helps with BTW) that it will not work. You can definitely see fish with these units and even watch the fish take your bait. Study up a little more as these are fantastic units for the price. Watch some youtube videos about them and you will learn quickly.
  16. tagging since I am curious about that too.
  17. Always run a trailer hook except when fishing extremely heavy cover. 50% of my spinnerbait catches have probably been on the trailer hook.
  18. Care less what the barometer says or what the weather is doing. I am fishing and usually catching.
  19. I beat the banks year round mainly fishing wood structure or laydowns. Occasionaly fish deep but almost always catch my limit fishing shallow regardless of the water temp. Almost all my fishing these days is tossing a worm or lizard due to a bad arm. Rarely fish crankbaits or spinnerbaits anymore.
  20. About age 4. Currently 51 and plan to fish until I am in my grave!
  21. You can get the double sided adhesive pads for the ram mount bases plus a few screws and it should be there for good.
  22. Lowrance Mark 5 DSI at Cabelas for $199 right now! Great units!!
  23. Very nice ride. Way too much skinny water around here for that type boat though. Would be very nice on some of our larger lakes though for sure. Hope it serves you well for many years to come!
