  1. You're in the right spot. Welcome.
  2. Keith has it about right. The chance of a lead acid battery exploding occurs during fast charge because the battery generates excessive oxygen and hydrogen. Any spark to that mixture will cause an explosion. Under normal charge large vent space is not required. VW used to have the battery under the back seat. And always connect the negitive post last. As an aside, battery acid is not particularly toxic. IIf one happened to explode in your face and you got acid in your eyes, you simply wash it out with water. On the other hand, it will eat holes in your jeans if not cleaned.
  3. Agree with the little harder bottom recos. Hard bottom with mixed weeds would be great. Wouldn't worry a whole lot about smaller baits. A 5" smallie thinks nothing of zapping a DD22 or 3/4 oz spinnerbait. I catch most of mine on wacky 5" Senkos.
  4. Welcome.
  5. You guys with avatars of huge smallies tick me off. As I've whined before, I've been chasing these critters near 50 years and my white whale is a 5# smallie. We just don't make those huge fish out here. Well, today I thought I put the whole thing to bed, but no--4lb 14oz. Add it to my list of many times close. Didn't even have the camera with me.
  6. Welcome.

Welcome. This is the place to find what you need to know.
  8. I think the Mercs beep to let you know the alarm systems are working.
  9. 50s 60s science fiction paperbacks--close to 2500.
  10. Agree with fishking. Whatever you use during the day.
  11. Men don't talk to women. They've got girlfriends and relatives for that.
  12. Raised in the Pacific NW I never knew any fish but salmonids. Then I went in the service and married a girl from Maine. Her father taught me to bass fish. The fighting spirit of the smallie made it an easy choice.
  13. BIG fish for the NE. Fished there for years and never got one like that.
  14. I've got a Tracker Pt 185. It would take a contortionist to change it where it's located so when mine crapped out I siliconed the new one to the top of the fuel tank.
  15. I truly feel for you and hope you get more time on the water. I've been afflicted with migraines more years than I can remember. What works for me is Sumatriptan, but it has to be a true migraine. Comes in pill or shot. I like the shot because with a migraine you're usually pukin your guts out which make a pill worthless. Takes less than 10 minutes and the headache is gone.
  16. Remember, it's as easy to fall in love with a rich girl as it is a poor one.
  17. BassinBlvd I know that girl
  18. Great way to spent a wheelbarrow full of money.
  19. I fish the same way at night and with the same presentations as I do in the day except I might lean a little more to top-water.
  20. Just before a storm has always been good for me. Of course then you're out there waitin to get caught in it--but so what.
