Used one when I 1st started bass fishing. The secret to consistent line pick-up? With your rod holding hand keep the thumb and 1st finger on the line just in front of the reel. Its a pain and why we use other gear.

Seems to me, and just judging by boat length, 30 yards is about right. Maybe 10 more if I want to tempt the back-lash gods.

As a 2 time Tracker owner I think you did great. Good looking boat. Consider Rhino's advise. Spend the extra money on GPS and you won't regret it.

It would certainly do no harm to replace a 4 amp fuse with a 5. However, when fuses start blowing there is usually a reason.

Those boxes shouldn't be a problem in the dishwasher. Just take them out before the drying cycle.

Use them always in deep water. My problem is I tend to take off and forget them.

I'll go with those who class the the MGX as a fine reel but if I had it to do over I'd buy another Lew's Tournament Pro instead. Much cheaper and just maybe a better reel.

Some of you may recall that on the order of a year ago I asked BR where I could move(I'm retired), fish all year and still be far enough North for smallmouth. Tennessee was the spot of choice. I liked to fish and my wife liked to....well, I'm not sure what she liked to do which I guess was a major part of the problem. Now I'm in Tennessee fishin Dale Hollow and she's in Oregon doing whatever it is she does. Not the first woman to trash my net worth. I bought a small place with a big garage for my boat, tools and truck. Had intended to leave the boat at a marina 15 minutes away but found a free boat-launch 6 minutes from the house. Have to give that a try first. Some of you may not be familiar with DH. It has a wicked smallmouth slot. 16-21", 1 fish under and 1 fish over. That makes for a great population of catchable fish of decent size and I'm tickled. Also, there is no shoreline development, not even boat-docks. There are a very few marinas and parks. Probably most everybody knows the world record sm came from DH. I'd like to thank everybody that steered me in this direction. So. Thanks

You can get a rebuilt replacement trim unit for most units on ebay for less than $500. Be sure it isn't a switch or something that's bad, first.
