How To Decide Who To Marry?

Recommended Posts

A good guide for you young guys looking to get married.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHO TO MARRY?

(written by kids)

You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10

-No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10

2. WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED?

Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then.. -- Camille, age 10

3. HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED?

You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. -- Derrick, age 8

4. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON?

Both don't want any more kids.

-- Lori, age 8

5. WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE?

-Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. -- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)

-On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. -- Martin, age 10

6. WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE?

-When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7 ( Love her )

-The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. - - Curt, age 7

-The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do. - - Howard, age 8

7. IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED?

It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 (bless you child )

8. HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED? There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8

And the #1 Favorite is .......

9. HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK?

Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a dump truck.-- Ricky, age 10

More marriage advice passed on to me from my grandfather.

"When you meet a girls parents, notice what her mother looks like, because at that age, she'll look the exact same."

Young man, what you don't yet realize is that by the time your wife reaches the age of her mother, your testosterone will be shot, and you will not (overtly) care what she looks like. Likewise, your wife will overlook your pot-belly and your nasty farts. By that point in life you will have become close friends, instead of lovers. I love my best friend. We've been married for forty-two years,

LMAO... Mike, do you unconsciously tune her out when she babels about everything she did today, or is it just me?

I have gotten a lot of advise on this subject. Between My moms mom, Mom, Dad, Dads mom, and friends,

There is 8 weddings in there. 6 divorces 1 widow, on being married for almost 60 years. My moms mom and my mom have the same view. Mom was married once. Grandma was married three times. Struck out twice. Once widowed . They both say its fine if I never get married. My dad was twice divorced. He would never do it again. I can not repeat what he told me on a pg 13 forum.

My buddy who might be working on a divorce after his wife of almost 10 years. Told him she was seeing a other guy. He really had nothing to say bad about it yet. They were together for almost 15 years in total. He told me she was his friend. Like Long mike said. He is only 33-34.

My grandma that has been married for almost 60 years. She tells me every day how she hated who she married. I do not blame her. My grandpa is a jerk. The funny thing is I can tell she wants me to get married. Yet she hates the idea of marriage.

I have no interest in getting married for the foreseeable future. Will I get married? Maybe one day. I just do not know. People telling me the negatives of getting married are not scaring me away. I have many reasons why I do not ant to get married. The huge factor for me is the the what if factor. Not the divorce what if. Will I be able to take care of my kids and wife. If she would lose a job, or be come injured and needs help for the rest of her life. Or vise verisa if it would happen to me. The other is I am a very private person. I come home to a empty house and enjoy it. I get home on Friday night. I turn off my phone and do not talk to a single person in till money at work.

That is exactly what my father-in-law told my son and my kid broke up with a number of wonderful and cute girls over the years due to that advice.

He is now married to a beautiful girl and they have two kids. He did see her mother and married her anyway.

Not true in the case of my wife, thank goodness. You do know that failing eyesight as we age is actually a kindness. Not only when we look at our wives, but also when we look in a mirror. At times, I curse whoever invented corrective lenses.

A private person? Yet you come to a forum and air some of your family's personal matters? What is wrong with this picture? It does however, explain your reluctance to getting married. :wink3:

My wife is a sucker for snake-oil, she will buy whatever beauty cream that claims to remove wrinkles; so when I get the opportunity, I'll take my glasses off and say "Ah, you look twenty years younger"

Just the other day she told me she was excited that this great wrinkle cream just arrived, I said "it did??, I didn't see a drum out in the driveway?"

She also gets very frustrated when trying to use a mirror, she says some old woman keeps jumping in front of her. And....

One day I asked my wife if she wanted to go shopping at the mall and she agreed, as we were walking out the door she asked what was I shopping for? I said I wanted to see if I could trade her in on a new model, a sporty one, with up-to-date styling, and no body damage.

d**n that woman can punch...... ;)

The problem with most of the good looking newer models is that they are either way to stuck up or they are way to much of a party animal.

Not to mention that most of them don't like fishing :(

BTW here is my check list LOL!

True... but a rich one is going to be a lot more high maintenance and always expect things instead of being thankful for them.

Not necessarily. There is no reason a man cannot be the "high maintenance" individual in the relationship.

Sam your post had me laughing solo!

So from the advice gathered here:

1. She needs to be in her mid to late 20s

2. Very good looking (36" 24" 37") 5'11" fill in what you like__

3. Lots of money or at least more than groom

4. She likes to share the money

5. AND LIKES TO FISH

I guess one for 5 isn't bad
