  1. Could not tell ya; like I said there was a rubbing on the rotor of the ci4. Never even casted it. Spent a week spinning it around to determine if I was crazy and came to the conclusion I wasn't going to spend $220 to wonder that.
  2. I haven't used as many reels as Ty or many of the members on this board. I will say the fj is a beast. It almost makes reeling the fish in too easy. Atleast for the 2-5 pounders I generally catch. I bought a ci4+ and returned it. I think it had a problem something was rubbing on the rotor. I bought another brand that will remain nameless and bunch of jerkbaits and I'm happy.
  3. Thanks Darren. Mike THanks for the tip and the help as always.
  4. Finished my second rod this weekend. Sc3 69mlxf. Went with a tennessee grip again. Fuji alconite reduction guides and tip with recoil running guides. Man this thing is light. With the reel 1000 symetre fl 6.5oz the whole thing comes in around 10oz. I definetly need to practice my wraps for a few days before the final go round. I didn't do that this time but they came out alright. Anyways I plan on using this rod for dropshot, jerkbaits, grubs and topwater. Thanks for looking.
  5. Preston. I'll expand on my post since I missed the second part of yours. The how to. There are many ways to fish soft plastics. The simplest for a beginner with flukes and senkos is weightless Texas rigged. I prefer a 3/0 ewg hook for both with is nice for me since I don't have to retie to change baits . I generally fish a fluke as a topwater or sub surface bait. Twitching the rod top then kilimg the action. Described as a twitch twitch pause. A senko I will cast out and count 15-20 then raise the rod tip and repeat. These are probably the two simplest methods to fish each bait. The nice thing about them is again you can fish a fluke like a senko and a senko like a fluke and still be successful. Good luck with your endeavors and don't be afraid to ask questions.
  6. I'd say a good starter plastic set would consist of a white zoom super fluke and a black or green stick bait. If you can't get a bite on either of those. fish are probably not around.
  7. This is a lightweight, sensitive spinning rod with a fast, powerful taper for bass, walleye and light saltwater species, like snook and redfish. It will fish medium-sized jigs or soft plastics as well as spinnerbaits and it's a good choice for plastic worms or grubs in deep water where more power is required. Don’t let that light weight fool you... there’s plenty of power to handle a number of fishing applications and our proprietary IMX technology gives you the ultimate in performance. Right from the loomis website. I'd say a big yes!!
  8. Pretty sure you will need a title. I bought a 14 foot jon without a title. Had to have the owner sign a bunch of paper work copy of license etc. got a new title in his name and then transferred to me. I really didn't do any of it. I have a friend of a friend that's contracts for the dmv handle most of it. Wish I could help you more.
  9. Don't know much about tetanus but it's a good idea you and every other fisherman is up to date on the shot.
  10. Broomstick may have been the wrong choice of words but it is a very powerfull rod with IMO a stiffer tip than a ml croix. An example I was fishing flukes on Friday. Had them on the medium rod and I could feel myself ripping the bait from the fish. Switched to the ml with a softer tip and started hooking up. Both had 2500 reels and 10lb braid with mono leader. IMO the softer tipped ml allowed the fish to grab the bait more and allowed me to hook them up. If the op wants a stuff rod hard to go wrong with a medium st croix or abu.
  11. I have a 7'm sc3 I built a factory 7ml avid and a 3 power loomis mbr. The 7'm is considerably stiffer then the aforementioned rods. So I guess we will have to agree to disagree.
  12. I think the st.croix ml is a very versatile rod. It's what I find myself going to more and more. If you want stiff though try a 7'medium croix. That thing is like a broom stick
  13. Put me down for 3/0 for the super fluke and a 1/0 worm hook or 1 split shot for the tiny flukes.
  14. Nice fish. Nothing like thump thump thump bam!! Don't know where your from but sometimes smallies on a spinnerbait feel like they'll rip the rod right out of your hands.
  15. Nice going Joe. Way to keep checking things off that list !!
  16. That's a fattie. Sounds like a great day!
  17. Nice fishing man. My dad always ends up being the boat rower lol.
  18. I'd like to know specifically from some of the bank fisherman how they break off braid? I've stated this before I cannot for the life of me break off straight braid in 10 pound test without slicing my hand open. If I had to cut the braid at the rod tip I'd loss 100 plus feet a trip. I don't know how you like to fish Mac but I spend a lot of time dragging tubes and football jig around chunk rock. This leads to many snagged lures. The leader serves two purposes for me abrasion resistance and easy of break off or freeing the lure. Many times I'll bend the hook on a tube jig or grub and be able to free the lure and bend the hook back into place. This is with 10lb braid and 6-10lb mono
  19. Raider sounds like you would be better off in a neighbor hood. Police stand offs are once in a blue and actually bring the street together.
  20. You could come home to this.
  21. Two part question. I couldn't fit it all in the title. One you are on a roll and loose the lure or run out of plastics. What do you do? Something similar or change up? Two: Your on a roll and just get the itch to change up. Why?
  22. I'm a porsche nut love the 911. Cars like this; the carerra gt, 959 etc where they think outside the box and go all in are always amazing works of art and engineering.
  23. Wow those are some beautiful fish.
  24. I would try the technique 00mod linked to. It might take a try or to but it works and I've found it effective. If I bass dies in the water if would probably eventually be picked on by scavengers and decompose back into the earth. You could be helping future generations in oil creation lol.
  25. The rod rating is a good guide. Don't be afraid to exceed it though. I generally throw lures that exceed a rods rating anywhere from a 1/8-3/8oz. You can whip them out there. The lure plays a role too. A bulky jig or spinner bait will cast different than a pencil type lure or senko.
