  1. Heck of a second smallie. Talk about setting the bar high. Congrats.
  2. Nice. I love bouncing and dragging a tube those brownies can't resist it!!
  3. Nice fish. Your reports are always a good read.
  4. I had my two baitcast rods out today 683 endurance and 783 imx. Both under 7 feet same lure range. The endurance is a smidge heavier in power and faster in action. The endurance can take a beating and comes back for more. It's actually my frogging rod. I know the imx and endurance are separated by a huge price gap and truthfully the differences are minimal. Check out tt I believe they reviewed a max or edurance 683 and a loomis 783 and gave both a good review. If you can get a good deal; I wouldn't hesitate on an endurance and no purple is a non-issue.
  5. I feel like these threads always discriminate against lefties. Ever use scissors with your left hand!!!????
  6. Nice fish. Sounds and looks like a great day.
  7. Wow those look awesome. I guess I'm going to have to keep some of the eyes I've been tossing back.
  8. Go for it!! It's not like you directly gave him the boot. The other coach should have realized what he was in for when he signed up. If his work/personal life was to hectic for coaching it was his bad decision and the kids shouldn't have to suffer from it.
  9. Pics say it all http://stuffhappens.us/photos-of-dogs-taken-after-leaving-the-shelter-and-getting-in-the-car-20-pics-11615/#
  10. Not really a line suggestion but why not try tying your leaders on at home. A 6-7 foot leader will usually last me a few trips and 5-10 reties depending on lures.
  11. That sounds like one sweet rig there capt.bob. Please post some pics when's it's completed.
  12. There should be a link on the side of the page for Delaware valley tackle. Maybe he will see this thread and chime in. I don't do any maintenance on my spinning reels. If they needed it I would send them to dvt. You need to be careful working on any reel but especially a spinning reel. They can be tough to take apart and even harder to get back together. I know this from experience.
  13. I don't throw frogs a lot and I don't really throw any swimbaits. However a 4000 size stradic is a pretty big reel for bass fishing. That's why I suggested putting it on the larger rod. There is also a sponser on this board deleware valley tackle that could tune that stradic up for you for a lot less than the cost of a new reel.
  14. Hey Denny, Welcome to BR. Everything looks good to me. If I were to make a recommendation why not put that 4000 stradic on the 7'4 mhxf rod and purchase a 2500 size reel for the 6'6.
  15. How about a antibiotic resistant killer virus?
  16. I have the endurance in 683 and this is my sentiment as well. It's generally my go to for frogs and sprinnerbaits though.
  17. Stradic 2500fj and st.croix avid 70mlf. Can do everything from bottom bouncing tubes to walking super spook jrs.
  18. I'd try a 3.5 inch tube. With 1/8-1/4 weight. Swim it, drag it or hop it.
  19. Topwater was the name of the game tonight.
  20. Before I really "got into fishing" I actually don't remember what kind of not I used to tie but it wasn't a good one. I could not tell you how many fish and lures I lost. You can catch a fish with a $20 walmart special or $2000 jdm work of art; if your knot skills are not up to par you will lose many fish. I only tie 3 knots alberto, snell and palomar but I can tie them well. More so then rods and reels this has improved my catching of fish. I also will leave an alberto knot tied for days or trips on end as long as I have a long enough leader and the line isn't rough or frayed. A lot of times I'll fish the leader down to 3 inches if the fish are bitting and the monos still good with no ill effects.
  21. Cast out my lure; retrieve. Burning it back after about a minute and a half. Look down and pull my lure of the water a flash of bronze. Oh man!! Why can't I have more patience? Next cast bring back slower 4 feet from shore. Bam!! I'm happy she gave me another try! Figured I'd add to this rather than start a new thread. Yesterday was a beautiful day the fair weather fisherman and bucket brigade were in full effect. Today not so much; cloudy, cool and intense gusts of wind left just me on the bank and thank goodness because the fish were in the mood. Basically had a bite or fish on every cast. Started with a t-rigged tube and quick switched to an exposed hook after not hooking up on a few fish. Here are two of the highlights.
  22. I like to keep it about even. I don't really like to spend over $150 on either. That's my budget and what I'm comfortable with. I find this gives me fairly balanced combos that perform up to and beyond my expectations.
  23. It's easy to blame "welfare" people for society's woes because IMO that is the "cheating"of the system your average person is most likely to encounter. Don't forget corporate welfare, no bid govt contracts, people cheating on taxes, Medicare fraud and people collecting unemployment and working to name a few. Welfare fraud is a drop in the bucket compared to some of the above. I try and be honest and put forth 100% in anything I do and not worry about the rest. Life's much simpler that way.
  24. What did an animal ever do to you?
  25. Man oh man a lot of long post here. To much for me to read on the old iphone. Snook is generally spot on so I would agree with what he said. If the guy was drunk or still feeling the after effects. You have to do something about it. Like scrutch said You want to give condolences to a guys wife because you couldn't step up? I'm no union guy but IMO as a steward your a hair away from management. It's managements job to make sure the job gets done, done right and everyone makes it home. Not win a popularity contest. Personally I'd rather be a "rat" than do nothing and have that on my conscious. Quick example. Though not as serious. Used to work at a car dealership; there of course was your shady salesman. On two occasions he was bragging about how he was going to sell old lady's cars without options they wanted. Big ones too four wheel drive and a/c you know what I did told the sales manager. You have to think bigger picture rather than ticking one person off Shoot I just added a long a** post lol
