Rod Arsenal
Don't worry about the labels man. A worm and jig riod equals an all purpose rod to me. You would be surprised at the fish you can catch on a rod when you forget about the labels.

What One Lure Can Always Catch Smallies For You?
I like to think smallies will always eat. I generally start top to bottom. Topwater, fluke, grub then tube. Those are all one type of lure. The specifics are up to the user.

Tatula Spinning Reel?
A lot of you guys have the inside scoop on upcoming products. Any word on a tatula spinning reel? They have spinning rods so is it a giant leap that they may make a reel for them? It'd be nice to have a value priced reel with reel four, aluminum body and air bail.

$250 Towards A Spinning Combo
The difference between the symetre and saros is the saros is direct drive. The stradic and saros the saros is graphite and the stradic is aluminum. I'm sure there are othe subtle differences but those are the main that come to my mind. Get the stradic I doubt you will be disappointed.

Spinning Set Up
That's a pretty open question. You could look at the spinning offerings of your preferred brands or try something completely different. A 6'6-7'0 medium power fast action rod and 2000-2500 size reel is a good place to start. Load that bad boy with 8lb mono or 10-20lb braid and have at it.

Spinning Gear Question
Good Question. I will usually cup the spool with my cranking hand and at the same time point the rod in a direction away from the object.

Small Boat/kayak Fishing In Saratoga, Schenectady, And Albany Counties (New York)
Felix definetly put you onto some good places. I don't know where your at put there is so decent shore access around lock 7 and 8. Lock 7 especially since there is a nice cove you could float around. Also six mile water works around fuller rd.

On The Fence About Line
I think you should be fine with powerpro. I use that without any problems. Guys like sufix 832, fireline and others but powerpro is a good place to start. Like I said before I use 10 and find it more than strong enough for my river fishing needs. It has a 2lb mono diameter so I think you might have trouble finding a flouro with a similar diameter. Don't sweat it. I use between 6-12 test with the power pro and do not have any problems. There are few knots you can use to join the lines. Albright, modified Albright, and uni knots. I like to use the modified Albright as it was developed by a striper fisherman and my thoughts are if it's good enough for stripers it will be fine for smallies. Good Luck and let us know how it works out for you!

On The Fence About Line
You're the one that needs to decide if it's worth it to you. For 10-15 bucks, alittle time to learn a new knot or two, and understanding the differences between various types of line; what's the downside? That said I favor ten pound braid with a leader but am thinking about putting 6-8 pound mono or copolamor on a reel and testing it out agin. So who knows if your don't give it a shot.

Are Largemouth Bass Line Shy?
I'm not the strongest guy in the world by any means; I can curl 30lb dumbbell a pretty good but cannot for the life of me break off braid. Even 10lb braid. So I like to tie a leader to make break offs and reties easier. Also trying to tie braid when it's windy can be a real pita. Also to avoid slicing my hand which still happens and to avoid snapping my rod under pressure. That's my reason more so than visability.

Are Largemouth Bass Line Shy?
Depends. I know bass aren't the smartest creatures on earth but I think some may have different dispositions. Think about dogs. disposition can vary wildly between the same breed. It's kind of a nature verse nurturer argument. I think with most animals there is a risk vs. reward factor. They see a prey item and most likely make a snap decision. Strike or no strike. Kill or no kill. What does this have to do with fishing line? Ever see how lions act during a drought? They display risky behavior. Does your dog eat his food when you leave the house? Probably not. He's saving that food because he doesn't know if you will return. So is that bass hungry enough to hit that lure attached to 65lb high viz yellow braid or can he afford to pass waiting for a better opportunity. I dunno. I just keep changing it up till something works.

Nice looking dog scogg. I think having an older dog around definetly helps show the pups what's cool and what's not.
